Facilities: Study Abroad – The study abroad program here is amazing. Nearly everyone you would talk to would have at least one study abroad experience. They even send out first-years to Spain, London, Scotland, or Ireland for their spring break. I did the London Spring break and it was by far the greatest things I've done.

Off-Campus Housing: There are two off-campus apartments that Arcadia owns: Manor and Oak Summit. Both apartments are very close to the campus and is only a walk away. Each apartment has it's own bathroom, living room, and kitchen. From what I've heard, the apartments are very nice and roomy (some even have balconies). They are also in a very safe area near the campus so there shouldn't be any concern of muggings or theft at night. Cost is generally cheaper by a thousand. There is also the option of Towers apartments which are not owned by Arcadia, but are accessible to the students and cheaper as well.

Facilities: The facilities here are pretty good. We have work out gyms, basketball courts, a pool, ect. The library is always accessible, and if that doesn't work out then you can study in some other places like the scenic water feature by the Easton cafe or on the landing of the castle (beautiful!). The art gallery has amazing art in it and this past year had an exhibit on one of the most famous artist known today. Generally, there are plenty of places to hang out and study, to make it even better the athletic center is expanding to create a new student common which will hold another gallery, lounge, cafe, and auditorium.

Computers: Arcadia has plenty of computers for students to use. The library consist of scattered computers on all three floors of the building, with three computer labs in the lower level. For those who prefer macs over PCs, there are also some mac computers in the lower level of the building and mac labs in Murphy. Each level has a printer, so if one breaks down you have two other options. For those who don't have laptops, the library is opened until 2 am for those who need it. I've heard some people complain about the wireless here, but to be honest, I haven't had any problems with the speed or connection. Even if there is a problem, all dorm rooms and the library have ethernet connection as a back up.

Athletics: Division 3 – We aren't the best but we try hard! Arcadia is more focused on Academics not Athletics.

Local Atmosphere: Glenside, Pa – glenside is pretty small, but we are so close to philly that there is always something to do! also, the willow grove mall is pretty nice and there are a lot of other places to shop and hang out. About two miles from campus is Keswick Village which has a really nice cafe that has open mic nights on Wednesdays its about a 20 minute walk if you are really slow!

3 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: Students Look Very Normal – Students look very normal. Girls are 2/3 of the student population, guys make up 1/3. A large amount of those males are homosexuals. Guy are okay looking. Not many hot ones.

3 College Freshman

Health & Safety: It's pretty dangerous at night here, also in the day if you go towards Philly. Two student were jumped in the first semester. Public Safety will get to you maybe 25 mins after your call if your not being murdered. But the swippers to get in buildings add a very good sense of security.

2 College Freshman

Academics: Political Science – The classes are okay. Not amazing. Some professors are very easy, so easy it's not even funny, and some teachers are very difficult you may define them crazy. The workload is very easy, only a few papers every semester.

4 College Freshman

Diversity: AU ROCKS – I would say the school is very accepting. There are more girls there than guys and there is a fairly big group of homosexuals as well which only enhances the acceptingness of the campus. Everyone comes from different backgrounds, but since the campus is fairly small, people tend to create friendships with a lot of different people.

Overall Experience: It's All a Façade...Most of Us Transfer. Arcadia seems like a great place when you are applying and in the first few weeks that you are there. For the international studies majors, bio majors, and people who want to study abroad this school has good programs. But ARCADIA IS ALL ABOUT APPEARANCE. They spend so much money trying to get students to go to Arcadia, but then they forget about the students they already have. Many students transfer out of Arcadia, and after personally sufffering because of the "appearance not substance" policy, I too am transfering.

Overall Experience: It's Pretty Great – Arcadia is actually a great place to go to school. If you come here to party, you'll probably be disappointed; but if you want to actually make friends and remember your time in college, it's amazing. The academics are decent, and events are actually fun if you give them a chance.

Overall Experience: First semester I hated it. I was ready to transfer. But it has gotten better this semester. Of course the thing that makes the schoo unique is its study abroad program. As a freshman take full advantage of Spring Preview. It is so worth the money and has been by far the best experience of my college career so far. You'll meet great people and have an awesome time, you just have to be open to new things.
My other favorite experience was Spring Fling weekend. They have bands come and play, and set campus up like a carnival. Everything is basically free including a whole bunch of food!

3 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: Punishments Are Varying – Campus strictness isn't too bad. Public safety doesn't ever seem to be doing anything, and the RAs are more intense about quiet hours than much else. You can get in pretty deep trouble for underage drinking, or even having underage kids around when drinking. It's better to just be honest and make smart decisions about everything.

Facilities: They are okk. The library is nice, they are short on books a lot because it is a small school. But they are really good at getting interlibrary loan books. They will tell you it takes awhile for books to get in, but they have always been relatively fast for me. The athletics facility is not newly updated, but as of this summer they are renovating and adding on to our atheletic building and adding another place to eat. Campus aesthetics are beautiful. While they do mow and stuff at awful timesof the day, the school is impecciably kept looking nice

Overall Experience: Experience Really Depends – For me, my first yeat at Arcadia was AMAZING! I guess it could be because everything seemed so new, and everyone is meeting different people. The people I hung out with in the beginning of the year were fun--we made up our own fun, went to the mall, went to campus activites, and so on. Arcadia was unique for the 2nd semester because they allowed freshman to spend a week abroad in 3 countries. I seriously love the idea of traveing to different countries and living there for a week or for a semester.

Transportation: The train station is about a 15 minute walk from the school that will take you into Philly. However I think that is pretty expensive since I am use to Boston's T. Its like 5 dollars to go one way into the city. There are bus stops right outside of campus; however I have never taken the bus and would never take them BY MYSELF because they are very sketchy!

1 College Freshman

Parking: Parking is horrible. From my understanding its worse for commuter students... And the school is planning on eliminating more parking spots. However after talking to friends at other schools who pay 300 dollars a year for parking, ours is cheap when compared (60 dollars a year).

Scholarships: Finacial Aid – While i myself didn't qualify for any finiancial aid at all, my friend has had amazing experiences with them. WHen she lost a scholarship becuase the funds assets got frozen they immediately helped her cover what she had lost and when FAFSA was giviing her a hard time they called and yelled at them!

Campus Dining: Dining on Campus – Horrible. I have heard/seen horror stories. This includes things not being cooked enough in the dining hall, maggots in the mushrooms, marinara sause for tomato soup. Things are pretty much flavorless. The only good things in the dining hall are probably the ice cream, white pizza, and nachos. Otherwise prepare to be disappointed. As for the Chat, everything is really greasy and they are usually missing cookies and the fruit usually doesn't look to good.

3 College Student

Scholarships: Expensive as Anything – I recieved all the financial aid I was supposed to in the end, but they ask for SO MUCH MONEY! It was also a long process to get verified for the final amount I needed, and it cut it really close to when I needed to register for classes. If you plan on going to school here, make sure you have scholarships or a lot of federal aid, because it costs A LOT.

3 College Freshman

Nightlife: Chill Area – There isn't much nightlife here. Arcadia is a laid back school and isn't exactly known for its parties. Heavy partiers will find it boring here, but if you're chill you'll find it relaxing and the quickest party is a pizza and a movie with some friends. There are some parties here and there but you have to be in the right spot at the right time. Though a quick train ride will set you in the heart of Philadelphia where there's plenty of clubs to go to.

3 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: I feel Arcadia does a good job of being strict. If someone is caught drinking they write them up and tell them to take classes. If someone is exposing themselves, they will get written up for inappropriate behavior.

2 College Freshman

Nightlife: Night Life – Eh there is very little night life here. Most people leave on the weekends to go to other schools in Philly or around the area so on campus night life isn't good much at all. However house parties in the apartments or dorms are great and its pretty easy to find stuff to do.

3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: Every know and then you can smell pot around campus if you are walking around fairly late at night. Parties really only take place for the most part in the apartments otherwise its only a couple of people drinking in their room.

Grey Towers Castle
Grey Towers Castle
Grey Towers Castle Grey Towers Castle Arcadia's Grey Towers Castle is possibly the University's most unique and special building. The castle was built in the late 19th century and has been declared a historic landmark. Freshmen can dorm in the castle, and many events and activities take place there, as well.

Arcadia has a great close-knit community of students that makes everyone feel very welcome. It is a great University for personalized attention, with professors who are all very helpful and knowledgeable in their areas and work well with students. In addition to their dedication, most professors have the highest level of recognized achievement in their fields, so they know what they are talking about. Outside of classroom activities and involvement, there are also many study abroad opportunities, where students can meet people from all over the world.

The best way to have an amazing experience is to get involved right away. While some feel that Arcadia does not offer much in the way of partying or crazy nightlife, it has other perks, including its small community of people passionate about what they are doing. Get involved, talk to people, and you'll have a great college experience.
