Local Atmosphere: there is very little to do in town if you are not 21, and can go to the bars, but i do not like that sort of thing anyway.

Parking: We have parking. But we also have an illegal, unusable soccer field smack dab in the middle of where MORE, much needed, parking could have been established. Not to mention the horrible mishap of giving out more permits than spaces... genius. On several accounts, I had to park at a local relative's house and have them drive me to class.. I live at campus, so I knew parking would be more available at night.. but I can't imagine the hassle that would have been for a commuter. FIX THE PARKING ISSUE

Greek Life: Arcadia needs to disown it's long history of avoiding Greek life. Students are going to party, in excess, with or without Greek organizations-- If there was Greek life, as least they'd also be partying and drinking with the other key roles of Greek- fellowship, leadership, academia, and pride.

Off-Campus Housing: Good Apartment Availability, Difficulty Finding Them, Expensive – Arcadia encourages students seeking off campus housing to live in a local apartment complex (The Towers). They're nice apartments with furnishing deals, but the complex has a reputation for being unsafe and known for robberies. Other apartments are expensive, but the school is right outside of Philadelphia--you can't find cheap apartments... and when you do, it's sketchy and utilities are really expensive. Arcadia aids students that are seeking off campus housing the best that they can..it's a small school so it's difficult for them to house everyone without some students moving off campus. They also suggest students to move into Manor and Oak apartments that are off campus, but are still owned in part by Arcadia so instead of paying rent and utilities, students pay housing fees to the school. Overall, it's available, but not the most desired thing to do- especially if you're looking to live somewhere without a roommate.

Facilities: Social Scene – My school has sent me multiple requests for internships, which I have applied to. I already have a wedding job set up and it's only my first year. The school is pretty tolerant of gay people and their rights at Arcadia, as well.

Drug Safety: The drug scene at Arcadia is not awful. You pretty much know who the majority of stoners are. There is an average amount of drinking in the residence halls that go somewhat unnoticed. Mostly it's stoners or people smoking cigarettes. The cigarettes get annoying because they do it right outside the doors and it smells bad when you first walk in.

3 College Freshman

Nightlife: If you go to Philly, there are clubs, which a lot of people check out. There's a bunch of parties at the Towers, the apartments for Arcadia (and DeVry) students. There are a decent amount of dances, but not too many people go there. That's sort of disapointing because once they supplied glow in the dark paint. There are late night movies every month, sometimes outside, which is pretty cool.

Weather: The weather really has no affect on our experience people are always out and about no matter what.We love it when it snows cause we get off and spend the day playing out side

Scholarships: They Will Try to Screw You – I know several people, including myself, who have had massive trouble with Arcadia Financial Aid. In two of these instances, the office has tried to RETROACTIVELY take back financial aid--in other words, suddenly the office insisted on payment for PAST YEARS that had ALREADY BEEN COVERED by scholarships or loans. Not only is this unethical and inconvenient, it's actually illegal. I actually had to remind them of the illegality of the situation before I got my money back. If you want to get your finanicial aid, you have to check up regularly with the office and occasionally make a huge scene, all just to get what they've already promised you!

3 College Freshman

Athletics: There Are Only a Few Sport Teams – The best sports team on campus is the soccer team all the other teams don't get much attention. The most popular sort on campus that is played by everyone is ultimate frisbee and it is not even a club sport.

3 College Freshman

Computers: The library and labs at Arcadia are usually crowded except on weekends. If you ever want to get any work done you have to do it on your personal computer. The WIFI all over campus is horrible and the school requires you to download a bunch of stuff inorder to use it.

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Freshman Dorms. I lived on the third floor of Dilworth hall for my freshman term--the stairs are a great way to get rid of the "freshman fifteen." The rooms are nice if you know how to decorate, and the walls are thick enough to eliminate outside noise. The upperclassmen dorms in Knight are nicer, and you can also live in apartments through Arcadia.

Facilities: Kuch Center - Gym – The Kuch is a pretty good gym. They have a pool open til 8 every night, and anyone is free to swim laps when the swim team's not practicing. The gym has a good number of ellypticals, treadmills, and lots of weight lifting equipment. There are many times of day to go where there won't be too many people if you're self-conscious. They also have an indoor track, which is great. There are three places to get food--dining hall, Chat, or Easton Cafe. All are pretty good for college food! The campus always has something going on, and there are tons of activities to do around town. You can always go into Philly as well.

Off-Campus Dining: Michael's Diner is right across the street and is open 24 hours so that is majorly convenient and good when you get hungry with friends at a strange time of night. Anne's Kitchen Table is an excellent afternoon sandwich place that has healthy and delicious food options for any diet. Jasmine is a good Chinese place across the street and The Pizza Box is a pizza place with a variety of unusual pizza dishes.

Campus Dining: Dining Hall and Chat – I'm fairly disappointed with the dining services at Arcadia. The best aspect of the dining hall is breakfast because you can make your own sandwiches, but the other meals are all lacking. There aren't enough options and it seems like we're always being served the same thing. Also, towards the end of the semester, the dining areas always run out of food!

4 College Junior

Academics: Acting BFA – The BA Theate Arts major and BFA Acting majors have a wide variety of classes to help you become a well rounded theatre artist. You study with professors who have gone to the best schools in the country and studied from some of the most well respected theatre directors in the world. The connections you make during your time in school will serve you well once you graduate. The only down side is there aren't many performance spaces and the program is lacking in singing classes.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: Drinking Policy/Quiet Hours – The campus has a strict drinking policy and quiet hours.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: The towers are spacious and within walking distance of the campus.

3 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: Glenside is located in a great area, just minutes away from the city life of Philadephia.

3 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: More Girls Than Guys – there is a lot of girls at arcadia, with boys well a single straight guy at arcadia is kind of like a unicorn hard to find...but if you look hard enough i am sure you will find one i know i did and now he's taken by me :)

Diversity: Needs Some Work – i believe the diversity needs some work on it because yes we have many different people but the treatment and acceptance of others is not as high as Arcadia University states they have while using a civility flag

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: Started Bad, Ended Good – When I first got to Arcadia, I was really bummed out. I didn't get into my first choice and was forced to stay 2 semesters by my parents. Eventually, it got too muddled to transfer and I decided to simply stick it out. As of the past year/year and a half or so, I've grown remarkably close with my friends. When you've got friends this good, nothing else really matters. While Arcadia is small and pretty damn average, I feel like there's a lot of good people that go here. You'll find all types.

4 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: Good Food – There's a lot of great places to get food in Glenside. Wawa isn't far which rules. There's a diner across the street from campus called Michael's that's open 24/7 and is perfect drunk food. Other than that, the local bars usually have good food and the local pizza shops aren't bad either. Jasmine has banging Chinese.

4 College Junior

Health & Safety: Completely Safe – At night on a weeknight the campus is baron. There were some muggings a few years back but they were drug related and I have to think they were targeting drug dealers. Beyond that, you hear of maybe 1 or 2 instances every year. You can always get an escort from Public Safety if you feel unsafe. Absolutely nothing to worry about here.

4 College Junior

Transportation: SEPTA is you're only option which is the public transportation service for the Philadelphia area. The buses are sometimes late and the workers can be pretty surly but it gets the job done. The regional rail is a nice quick way to get into Philly.

Grey Towers Castle
Grey Towers Castle
Grey Towers Castle Grey Towers Castle Arcadia's Grey Towers Castle is possibly the University's most unique and special building. The castle was built in the late 19th century and has been declared a historic landmark. Freshmen can dorm in the castle, and many events and activities take place there, as well.

Arcadia has a great close-knit community of students that makes everyone feel very welcome. It is a great University for personalized attention, with professors who are all very helpful and knowledgeable in their areas and work well with students. In addition to their dedication, most professors have the highest level of recognized achievement in their fields, so they know what they are talking about. Outside of classroom activities and involvement, there are also many study abroad opportunities, where students can meet people from all over the world.

The best way to have an amazing experience is to get involved right away. While some feel that Arcadia does not offer much in the way of partying or crazy nightlife, it has other perks, including its small community of people passionate about what they are doing. Get involved, talk to people, and you'll have a great college experience.
