Pros and Cons – Our library is wonderful. It's laid out very well and it's a great place to get work done. The athletic center just got a renovation and is also very nice. We are currently in the process of constructing a state of the art student center called "the commons". We also have the castle and other old buildings that are aesthetically pleasing. The dorms and some of the academic buildings, however, could use some updating.

There Are Ways of Finding Fun – It's a typical suburb and the town of Glenside doesn't really cater to the students much. There are a few bars/clubs and restaurants in walking distance and there is a mall nearby. There are also always campus events going on.

Permit Costs – To have a car you must pay for a permit which is aout $70. I don't agree with this since the tuition is already so high, as students we should not have to pay additional money to be able to park.

The school has a good enforcement policy, they understand that kids are in college to experiment with different things. If caught for the first time the punishment is not too severe, usually you have to attend a counseling session and that's it. They do not notify you're parents, it's strictly you're own business.

Arcadia University recently has bought the entire apartment complex down the street from the schools. The upperclassmen live in these apartments for the same cost of living in a dorm.

If you are looking for a diverse school Arcadia is definitely one of the MOST diverse! There's a high percentage of international students either coming to study for the whole 4 years or more, or an exchange program for the semesrer--there's Korean, Chinese, Japanese, Tanzanian, Malaysian, Italian, Jamaican, Hatian international students, to name a few. Of course there's a good percentage of Latino, Black, and Asian American students too. Arcadia's student population is very mutlicultural. There's even an International Club, A.S.I.A club and Black Awareness Society Club. For religion, there is a Newman Club for Catholic, Arcadia Christian Fellowship for all Christians, a Jewish cluc and a Muslim Club. There is also a PRIDE Club for LGBTQ students too. Arcadia is extremley diverse so if you're looking for diversity, come here!

Health & Safety:
For the most part I feel safe on campus--public safety is always cruising in their cars at night, to get into any dorms or apartments you need to have a swipe card.

Glenside is a nice, quiet town--there's a Michael's Diner, a Walmart, lots of shops and restaurants when you walk to the train station. In the neighboring townm Keswick, there's nice little shops and food stores as well.

Subpar Nights – There are some events at night on campus. These events are usually not strong enough to draw a large crowd. They tend to draw in insomniacs, and that's all.

Too Many Females and Whites – The school is clearly dominated by females and whites. It takes away from the diversity that schools really strive for. It doesn't help that the school is small.

Helpful Professors – The content of the work at Arcadia University is not always the most vibrant and exciting. However, the professors do a good job of trying to always help the students. I feel like the professors really notice and care if I'm struggling.

Food Off Campus – Michael's is the diner that's right near campus and has a good vareity of foods. There's also different restaurants if you walk towards the train station, as well as Chick-Fil-A and other fast foods that is about a 5 min drive from campus.

Well, I love my major, its very eye opening to see what psychology really is. The things which I learned made me want to pursue the subject more and to use it in the future as a Psychologist.

How Strict Is Strict? Arcadia is not strict at all! As long as you are not bothering anybody - not an issue.

What Drugs? Arcadia is not a drug school. Do not expect to do anything more than pot. We are not a school for druggies.

Sports Are Limited at AU – At Arcadia, sports are not the main focus. we don't have a football team, but we do have swimming, tennis, basketball, soccer, lacrosse, cheerleading, and dance. However, even though we don't have that many sports, our players take it very seriously. I am a tennis player, and our team, as well as the other teams, do really tough workouts and put our all into all of our matches and events. It's important that we have fun doing what we like, even though we are only a division 3 school

There are lots of different races and religions at Arcadia, but the Caucasian population still outweighs them all. However, our college tries to reach out to other races and religions. We have a black Awareness Society, which I am a member of. We also have Latin Club, American Christian Fellowship, and Jewish Club. However, our school is known for international students; they have an international student club.

Being a Bio Pre-Med Major – I think the biology pre-med major is good for anyone trying to go into the biological science. It's always good to have pre-med requirements under your belt, just in case you want to attend med school afterwards. the workload is heavy, so you need a good math and science background. the hardest classes are Organic Chemistry, Physics, and Comparative Anatomy. However, if you're ambitious, it's not that bad.
The best thing about this major is the internship and job opportunities. As you probably know, pre-med students are expected to be hard working, studious individuals. Therefore, work-study jobs, as well as internships at free clinics and hospitals, are way easier to attain.
As a bio pre-med student, the lab rooms and library are going to be your best friends. the curriculum is tough and packed with info, but, as I said earlier, you can do it if you put your mind to it. :)
Even though Arcadia is a private school that mainly focuses on the humanities and studying abroad, the science and mathematics departments are amazing. The class sizes are super low, so its easy to talk one-on-one with the profs. my favorite professors are Dr. Zheng and Dr. Meg Wright. Zheng teaches calc 2 and Wright is the Bio prof. Just like the majority of our profs, they are so down-to-earth, and willing to help the student in any way they can.
I really like the atmosphere of Arcadia. It feels just like home to me, and every time a leave, i can't wait to head back. :)

Right outside of philly, there are TONS of bars, clubs and places to hang out. You can hop in a taxi and go anywhere
College Senior 2011-06-22T17:53:27Z
There are tons of apartment complexes very close by. Beacuse we are close to philly, there are tons of options that vary in price range.

I love the campus (the size, the location). Classes are small and personal. Biology is huge here. We have a great physical therapy program. Similalrly, we are very big in study abroad. I got to spend spring break in SPAIN for $500!

There is public transportation available on Easton Road, as well as a train station, however it can get costly and expensive.

Arcadia University has been in the process of updating all of the facilities, with all academic buildings being no older than 15 years old! This year there is a new student center currently being built, which includes a new cafeteria, auditorium, and social gathering setting. The library is less than 5 years old and is absolutely spectacular as well.

International Business and Culture – Arcadia University statistically is the number one college in the United States for study abroad programs, so it is no surprise that they have an outstanding International Business and Culture program. For each student, they require to develop proficiency in the language of their choice, and require that they study abroad in another country, (preferably in the country of the language studied), while still applying all of your financial aid to your abroad experience! Arcadia University has great new facilities and their Business department is spectacular. My advisor is extremely helpful with my course planning and my social experience. Overall, I would recommend my school and program to anyone serious about a career abroad!
Sorry, there are no reviews.
