Campus Housing: The freshman dorms were overly crowded for my first year at a new school. It was impossible for my roommate and I to transfer to different dorms, even though we had really bad problems living together. It you get along with your roommates though the dorms can be nice, especially if you're not in a forced triple. The upperclassmen dorms are great, and you have the option to live off campus so it feels like you're starting to be 'off on your own' without actually paying for apartments.

Transportation: The public transportation is like any other, the stop is close to school. But they now offer a program where you can rent a car on campus but I am not sure how that works.

2 College Sophomore

Campus Dining: There is not many good choices, and they run out often.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: The lottery system is complicated, but the dorms are pretty nice.

4 College Sophomore

Athletics: They are good, and it is always a good atmosphere at the games.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: There are not many places, there is a diner, and a wawa down the road and a pizza place. The pizza place does not deliver, and the wawa is a far walk in the cold. Other than that there are not many options.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Although I personally love it, some do complain. Freshman live directly on-campus during the first year, but have the opportunity to live in AU apartments that are literally a 5-minute walk off campus after their first year. They also have the option to live in Knight Hall, an upperclassman living space, after their first year as well.

Majors: Majors are very structured and organized. AU specializes in certain areas such as Pre-PA/PT and Education.

Health & Safety: Arcadia for one is located just outside of a small town. It is very and and has extra security measures for dorm halls. Public Safety (campus security) keeps the campus safe and secure.

3 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: It is not too strict. It depends on the RA and the Area Coordinator. Arcadia has more or less a 3 strikes and you're out policy.

1 College Freshman

Nightlife: There is no night life. Unless you want to walk around glenside at night.

4 College Freshman

Academics: Academics are a top priority here at Arcadia. Professors go a long way to make class fun and interesting.

4 College Freshman

Academics: I am an Acting Major and I could not love it more. We have a phenomenal program designed by Yale School of Drama graduate Mark Wade. The faculty and professors are preparing us for work out in the real world. I am privileged to be a part of this program.

4 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: I have yet to see campus security get involved. Driniking is mostly off campus so it stays quiet and so do they.

3 College Freshman

Transportation: The walk to the train isn't awful in good weather. Zip Cars are available too.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: Multiple swipe in doors make it difficult to enter the dorms without id. Call boxes are available on campus.

3 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: There really aren't a lot of things to do. There are a few shops, but they get old fast.

3 College Sophomore

Diversity: The diversity here is pretty standard. It could be better, but it could also be a lot worse.

Overall Experience: I transferred into Arcadia after completing a 2 year degree program at another school, and transferring to Arcadia was one of my worst college experiences, and I've had plenty of others. Unless you're a first year student they didn't really seem to care about you, study abroad options are basically extinct and that's what Arcadia's reputation is built on. I had trouble leaving housing because I was a transfer student too. There is never anything really going on on the weekends, so they can get pretty boring unless you're at home. Tuition is insane! $47,770 to live there for a year, before books and additional expenses is just ridiculous! If I could go back in time, I would have transferred to a different school.

Parking: Parking wasn't bad if you were looking for a spot later in the day, I lived in Knight so I wanted to be parked there, but that lot fills up fast, and if you're not parked there you're probably parked in another zip code!

4 Recent Alumnus

Campus Housing: When I lived on campus I lived in Knight which was a pretty nice setup with a lounge/kitchen and a laundry room on every floor, and suite style housing was pretty sweet. Getting maintenance done was another story, it took us over a month to get on of our toilets fixed.

3 Recent Alumnus

Computers: The library has a nice setup with Macs and PCs in the basement and PCs on the first floor, but the technology associated with the computers is awful. Half on the computers aren't hooked up to the correct printer so you can never just log in and print without it taking a half hour, and something is always wrong with the printers, it's such a hassle.

Campus Dining: For the cost of tuition being so high you'd think they'd at least serve edible food. You can go to the Dining Hall or the Chat with your meal plan, and the Chat is the place to go, the food there gets old quick though.

4 College Senior

Health & Safety: There is not a lot of crime on campus. There has been one major incident since I have been going there for 3 years. After this incident more cameras were installed. Campus security is always around and there are emergency phones placed everyone around campus. I feel very safe on campus.

Campus Housing: I do not live on Campus, but most of my friends do. The dorms can be on the actual campus or across the street in an apartment complex the school bought. It is a short walk from the apartments to classes. Also, a special few students get to stay in the castle which the campus is famous for. Most people seem to enjoy living on campus. The cost is about an additional 10K added to the tutition. There are a lot of activities planned for those who live on campus to keep things fun and interesting!

Grey Towers Castle
Grey Towers Castle
Grey Towers Castle Grey Towers Castle Arcadia's Grey Towers Castle is possibly the University's most unique and special building. The castle was built in the late 19th century and has been declared a historic landmark. Freshmen can dorm in the castle, and many events and activities take place there, as well.

Arcadia has a great close-knit community of students that makes everyone feel very welcome. It is a great University for personalized attention, with professors who are all very helpful and knowledgeable in their areas and work well with students. In addition to their dedication, most professors have the highest level of recognized achievement in their fields, so they know what they are talking about. Outside of classroom activities and involvement, there are also many study abroad opportunities, where students can meet people from all over the world.

The best way to have an amazing experience is to get involved right away. While some feel that Arcadia does not offer much in the way of partying or crazy nightlife, it has other perks, including its small community of people passionate about what they are doing. Get involved, talk to people, and you'll have a great college experience.
