Athletics: Overall I think the sports at Arcadia are popular and important to the campus life. We don't have a football team though, but we have intramural that anyone can be a part of.

Facilities: Most of the buildings are old but some are newly renovated and clean and spacious like the library and the student center.

Scholarships: I received mostly loans in financial aid which was a deterrent. I suggest learning about interest and the salary of your future career before taking out loans upwards of $25,000.

Facilities: The facilities are there but YOU have to get involved and take advantage of them. I wish the library were open more hours. It is a beautiful campus with an attractive castle that stands as an invitation. The grounds are well kept and come alive on nice days. In general though it isn't a party school. Naturally the school organizes events. The sports facilities are excellent and if you don't want to play, swim or work out you can always go watch.

Facilities: The way is paved for an exciting variety of opportunities to study abroad. There are programs available all over the world during spring break, summers and of course school terms. Lots of support and guidance is in place to make the whole experience so much easier, interesting and fun.

In general everyone is accessible and helpful. I have been very happy with my classes and feel that I am getting an excellent education. Guidance is available in making choices, which can make a difference. Living on campus is comfortable and safe. All types of services and amenities are available which provide for a wonderful college experience in and out of the classroom.

Majors: As a History and Education student the types of internships that I would be a part of would be student teaching. As a student teacher I wouldn't be paid but it would be a very rewarding experience and one that I would not pass up. Currently I am part of a student teaching experience called Breakthrough and I get to work with seventh and eighth graders. Being prepared each week to teach and help my students is very important to my growth as a teacher.

Majors: I am currently an History major (with an Education minor) and I have to say that it was the best decision that I have made coming to Arcadia. Every teacher that I have had so far for my major seem to really care about their students, they are helpful and really want to help the students achieve their goals. The classes are challenging in the best ways possible and their are so many choices for classes. With every class that I take I feel as if I am moving closer to my goal of becoming a history teacher.

Majors: There are a lot of majors to choose from and courses that take care of the different requirements for each major, but as with most schools, some professors are better than others.

Campus Dining: The food is over-priced and fairly bland. It's usually over-crowded no matter when you go to the dinning hall or the Chat (on campus cafe) and it's hard to get anywhere else when you're pressed for time.

Transportation: Arcadia only hosts public transport to AU specific events but the public transportation in the area is extremely convenient because it is in the Philly suburbs so trains and buses are used often and are fairly cheap.

Parking: While the parking permit isn't terribly expensive ($60 a year), finding a spot at peak class times is everyone's most dreaded experience. The campus is small enough that most people park and just elect to walk to class, rain or shine, just to avoid the hassle of finding a parking spot or risk being late to class.

Off-Campus Housing: There are two main options: an apartment complex right across the street, although the street is a main highway and leads towards a less than nice part of Cheltenham. Most students choose to live with several others and in this complex for cheaper than campus housing. The second option is in downtown Glenside and the surrounding area, where students will splint the rent of a house. This options usually means that you need a dependable form of transportation.

Guys & Girls: Students were average. There was a wide range from artists (performing arts, photography, ceramics, jewelry, etc.) to sciences (Physical Therapy, Mathematics, Chemistry, etc) to Teachers and Philosophers.

General Ed classes with mixed majors always seemed to get along and everyone had their own sense of person/style. I don't believe there was much peer pressure to act like other students and felt I could always be myself.

Campus Strictness: I did not have any particular rules applying to me. I was a commuter student so I may not have experienced all the rules that residents would have.

Drug Safety: I didn't notice much drug use or abuse of alcohol.
Students partied and partook in alcohol use, but it never seemed extreme.

Facilities: School was great for both commuters and residents and both "types" of students were easily able to intermingle and collaborate with one another. There wasn't a "divide" like there are at some schools between the two groups.

The professors are well linked with the local business scene and can assist you in getting employed after graduation.

Grey Towers Castle
Grey Towers Castle
Grey Towers Castle Grey Towers Castle Arcadia's Grey Towers Castle is possibly the University's most unique and special building. The castle was built in the late 19th century and has been declared a historic landmark. Freshmen can dorm in the castle, and many events and activities take place there, as well.

Arcadia has a great close-knit community of students that makes everyone feel very welcome. It is a great University for personalized attention, with professors who are all very helpful and knowledgeable in their areas and work well with students. In addition to their dedication, most professors have the highest level of recognized achievement in their fields, so they know what they are talking about. Outside of classroom activities and involvement, there are also many study abroad opportunities, where students can meet people from all over the world.

The best way to have an amazing experience is to get involved right away. While some feel that Arcadia does not offer much in the way of partying or crazy nightlife, it has other perks, including its small community of people passionate about what they are doing. Get involved, talk to people, and you'll have a great college experience.
