4 College Freshman

Facilities: I think our education program sets us apart from other schools. You are put in a classroom for forty hours of observation in your Intro to Ed class. If you're not cut out for teaching, you are going to know that semester, instead of wasting 4 years waiting to student teach.

Campus Housing: I have lived on campus for two years now, and am applying to live in a Living Learning Community again. LLCs are for upperclassmen. Each LLC has a specific theme, and they typically get to live in the on-campus houses. Living in an LLC does not cost much more than the dorms, so it is cheaper than the newer apartment buildings on campus.

Local Atmosphere: Aquinas is in the middle of the woods, yet so close to downtown Grand Rapids. There is typically something happening on campus, but there is a lot to do off campus as well.

4 College Freshman

Computers: The wireless connection is pretty reliable. There are a few computer labs in different buildings on campus.

Academics: Ed department gets you in classrooms from the start

Guys & Girls: I found a great group of friends early on my 1st yr

4 College Freshman

Scholarships: Aquinas really took my strengths as a high school student into account and gave me excellent scholarships that they thought I deserved!

Nightlife: When you are over 18 there are many places to go and have fun, since Grand Rapids has a lot of colleges, there are many bars and clubs that have college nights.

5 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: I love the Grand Rapids area, it's absolutely beautiful and I love that I have chosen here to plant my roots!

3 College Freshman

Diversity: We don't have many different ethnicities on campus, but for those that are, we make them feel as welcome as possible!

3 College Junior

Drug Safety: The drug scene is only smoking and drinking. I'm sure other things go on but from what I can smell there is just weed.

Greek Life: We do not have a Greek life on Campus. I cannot have an opinion on Greek life when I have no experience with it.

Parking: There is absolutely NO where to park. Everyone seems to have a car, so if you're from out of state it's ridiculous. On top of all this, the cost for a permit increased from $50 for the entire year to $100 the first semester and $150 for the second semester - NOT OKAY! It puts me at an inconvenience and now Is forcing me to park off campus, and I'm from out of state

Computers: The library has computers for general use on the first two floors, but each floor has at least computer to look up books and articles. There are always open computers. The computers are extremely slow. It's best to bring you're own laptop and plug it in to one of the outlets on the tables. unless you want to print something then it's easier to use one of the computers provided by the college.

4 College Junior

Transportation: There's public transportation that you can take to most of the places you want to go. You can even take it to Allendale or Big Rapids to see your friends at GVSU or Ferris. The buses have specific hours and the hours for certain routes change on some days so don't expect to get a ride back to campus from downtown at 2am. Campus safety provides escorts around campus and within a 1 mile radius of campus at night.

3 College Senior

Majors: I haven't had an internship yet but I'm hoping to have one at one point. If I were to talk with the career center, I'm sure they could help me find one and apply for it

3 College Senior

Parking: When you live on campus, parking is very competitive. Meaning which parking lot you are allowed to park in. And if your a commuter, then you have a designated lot. This year, parking permits have become more expensive and the number of parking spaces have diminished.

3 College Senior

Campus Dining: The past few years, Wege hasn't been the greatest. There wasn't much to choose from and the food always looked awful. I now live off campus and I've heard that AQ has hired a new chef and the food is actually good.

3 College Senior

Majors: The Psychology program is very popular at Aquinas but the problem is that the main focus is only on research in Psychology. There needs to be more opportunities for other areas of Psychology. For example, I'm going into counseling and that is more of a hands on field, I wish they could offer a few more classes related to that area. The only other downside is that classes are somewhat difficult to get into unless your a senior.

2 College Junior

Parking: There are not a lot of parking spots. Often times students must park on the opposite side of campus from where they live and cannot easily get a new parking spot if they move from one semester to the next. There is very little visitor parking and people who are just staying for a couple of minutes do not want to fill out the guest parking app and paying the fee.

3 College Junior

Computers: Computers work well, can be slow sometimes and have useful programs. They usually take a while to log you in and there are not many in the library, so sometimes you have to wait to use one.

2 College Sophomore

Diversity: The student population at Aquinas College is roughly two-thirds female and one-third male. The overwhelming majority of students are white, presenting a noticeable contrast to the surrounding community, which has a much higher percentage of black people than the college. Other minority races at the college are even less common, but are still present.

Parking: very good parking. small school so parking is open.

Majors: Sustainable Business is a wonderful program and Aquinas College is the only school in the country that currently offers it. The program takes ethical and sustainable values and does not just apply them to business, but uses them to recreate business in order to make it good for the employers, employees, the environment, and consumers. It is a challenging and difficult program; students typically struggle with two of the three areas of study, but success is definitely possible and a degree in the subject really pays off.
