Computers: My overall experience with the technological aspects at App, I'm satisfied. I use my personal laptop a lot, but it usually stays in my room until the professor specifically asks for it in class. Printers are pretty evenly dispersed throughout campus. Wireless access is a little harder to get. Luckily, my room has good connection without a ethernet cable. Other rooms rent as lucky.

Academics: I am constantly being told that people are majoring in Elementary Education. My major is definitely a large chunk of the percentages of App's degrees. After completing Gen. Ed, my education is thought out well. The steps can be easily followed.

Majors: With App being founded as an Education school, I am excited to find out all there is to know about the process. Not having switched over to my career advisor yet, I am still working with my General Ed advisor. One I can declare my major, I'm sure I will be much more in the know.

Majors: Not having experienced it yet, I have been told a few things about the process. I was made aware that I must apply into the College of Education. Luckily, I will also partake in field experience early on in the process.

Off-Campus Housing: I haven't taken great interest in it, but from the little I've seen there's a variety of choices. Obviously, pricing depends on the vicinity of the place and quality of it. App provides a variety of housing options associated with the university and also those that aren't.

Local Atmosphere: Boone is busy and big enough to find all kinds of things to do off and on campus, yet still small enough to not feel over whelmed. Being a college female, I don't feel threatened when I go out. It's easy to fill my weekends with friends and activities.

Drug Safety: Not being a user myself, it doesn't bother me when people decide to experiment as long as they do it responsibly. When their experimentation gets out of hand, it puts others reputations and lives in danger.

Nightlife: Personally, I don't take part in the "party" scene. From what I here from my floor mates, it's quite interesting. Parties are active towards the end of the week. The bar/clubs up the road a ways are very busy on any night. Transportation is decent. I hear a lot about beepers that give the partiers a way of traveling without themselves drinking while driving.

Transportation: The town surrounding App's campus is strictly a college town. Everything is within walking distance, if not, it's a free bus ride over to Walmart or Walgreens.

Scholarships: In my situation, I know the resources are there, I just don't utilize them as much as I should. My first year, I was not given any financial aid from the university. If anything, getting a head start on the whole financial aid process would be very beneficial.

Campus Housing: I was blessed at being apart of a Residential Learning Community my first year. Without being a member of this, I would have had more trouble with getting to know people. Living on campus provides infinite opportunities to make friends and to get involved in campus events. the only reason you wouldn't get involved is if you simply refused. Living off campus, you wouldn't be exposed to as much activity. Also, living on campus gives much easier access to everything.

4 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: The only problems I've encountered are noise violations. Other than that, I feel that App realizes that this is the point in our lives that we discover who we want to be for the rest of our lives. We're made aware of the consequences. If we get caught, we were told what was going to happen. If it's people's choice to act up, that's their decision. App deals with it accordingly.

Diversity: Walking from one end of the campus to the other, I encounter numerous types of people. Multiple ethnicities and races are easier to differentiate but the people I talk with have all kinds of political, social statuses, religions, and sexual orientations. Having my origins from a less diversified town, it is interesting to experience the numerous differences of people in one university. While walking through the Student Union, there all kinds of clubs and activities that are being showcased. There aren't any doubts that Appalachian's campus is diversified.

Off-Campus Dining: For how small Boone is the off campus dining options are pretty good. We have a chipotle opening soon.

Drug Safety: Everyone smokes weed, you're in the boonies.

4 College Freshman

Diversity: Not many people are diverse here, but I would consider a lot of people to be religious at app.

4 College Freshman

Computers: I think it's like 3 cents per page to print which really isn't that bad.

5 College Freshman

Athletics: I love all of our athletic facilities!!!

3 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: The police are just strict on campus, if you plan on doing anything go off of campus

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: It's worth it to live off campus.

4 College Freshman

Nightlife: Easy to find parties off campus, just don't party in dorms.

3 College Freshman

Weather: The wind is terrible, and I guess it can be bad if you're not used to snow.

Campus Housing: East side is better to live on, I was just happened to be put into cone and I love it everything is fairly new. There are more social people on the West side though.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: I don't think it was all the schools fault. Fafsa is had to deal with in general.
