Campus Strictness: It's not that strict, really. It's more that if the police or faculty have to notice you, you'll regret it, but as long as you're not obnoxious about it, you'll be fine. They're not going to come knocking on your door searching for drugs or alcohol unless you're stupid and give them reason to.

Majors: I'm in the anthropology department, and it's fantastic. The professors mostly have PhD's, so they really know their stuff, but even though the're busy doing actual professional stuff, they teach their own classes (instead of pawning them off on TA's), and are friendly and approachable.

Guys & Girls: girls are ugly no doubt

Transportation: Appalcart is free and takes you anywhere inside Boone. The bus to the Charlotte airport is moderately priced, as well.

Campus Strictness: I gave an A not for it being extremely strict, but for it being the right amount of strict. The school doesn't really but into the students' personal lives unless they are risking their safety or that of others.

3 College Junior

Campus Dining: There isn't a lot of variation in the menu of each venue, but there are several different venues to choose from. Lots of kids eat chick fil a at the cafeteria, but there are also home cooked options, as well. The best part is the two markets you can shop at with your meal plan.

Drug Safety: If you want weed, you will have no problem finding it. Same goes with moonshine

Campus Housing: it sucks. the dorms are s***. they smell like s***

Parking: The parking at school is a nightmare. As a freshman, it's awful trying to get to your car. It costs a fair amount of money and when they are out, they are out. Other people sell parking passes but they can get pretty expensive. It is also terrible at football games. Appalachian State needs a lot more parking. Tickets are given out constantly.

Local Atmosphere: Not a lot of shopping but a very friendly environment. If you like hiking, water falls, mountains, snowboarding, snow in general and snow sports, Appalachian State is a great school for you.

Health & Safety: There are constantly cops everywhere on campus so you feel pretty safe. Sometimes you do hear of rape or robberies but it's not often.

Health & Safety: I wish there was more emergency phones around campus or places to go in case of an emergency.

Scholarships: I wish I was able to recieve more financial aid to help with my schooling.

Nightlife: There are many house parties and the transportation is good. There is a website called collegebeeper which is a program that lets students drive sober and make money driving other students around. The bar scene is not great for under 18 but for over 21 it is pretty good.

3 College Junior

Weather: The local weather can be very unpredictable and it snows quite frequently in the winter. Classes are rarely cancelled due to snow and sometimes it is hard to get across campus with the winds so strong so make sure to bundle up. If one is an avid snow sportsperson then they will love Appalachian State.

Majors: I enjoy the Walker College of Business Program because I feel that I am in a program with other students who are very career-oriented and ambitious. The workload is large but reasonable, the curriculum is also rather challenging but attainable, and the building is very well kept and the classes are very nice. There are many internship an job opportunities if one is a hard worker.

4 College Junior

Majors: To get into the Walker College of Business, one has to complete 2 accounting classes, a computer literacy test or take a computer class if one can't pass the test, 2 economics classes, 2 English classes, Business Calculus, Law class, and Economic Statistics.

3 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: I have never experienced peer pressure and have rarely seen drugs at this school, however, I'm sure it's out there.

Transportation: Transportation at App is exceptional. We have a bus system called Appalcart that basically goes anywhere (if it's not snowing badly), we have 3 different taxi organizations as well as something called a "beeper" which is a student-run organization (CollegeBeeper.com) that ensures a sober, safe ride every time (only 2 bucks a head). It's funny that we have all this transportation and Boone is such a small town so you don't really need it most of the time, but it's still very useful.

Off-Campus Dining: There are many restaurants off campus that supply student discounts as long as we show our student ID card. The costs range from very cheap to very expensive, so it's flexible. There are a wide variety of off campus dining opportunities with amazing ethnic variation among them. My favorite restaurant to go to is Paulucci's, an Italian restaurant in downtown Boone.

Weather: It snows a lot here, but classes rarely get canceled. It also rains a lot.

Greek Life: Greek Life is only about 10% of our school. If you want to get involved, you can, but you don't have to!

Campus Strictness: They are pretty strict on drugs and drinking. there have been cops on my floors plenty of times for drugs and underage drinking
