3 Recent Alumnus

Computers: Great computer access in the library if you don't mind waiting for computers during final exam time.

2 Recent Alumnus

Campus Housing: There are no housing options for upperclassman, but all students must live in the dorm for a semester. Many of the dorms are being updated, but you are out of luck if you are placed in some of the older dorms.

4 Recent Alumnus

Facilities: Appalachian has made it their goal to build and support sustainable facilities, a commendable pursuit among other universities. They have dedicated a lot of time to reducing waste in dorms as wells as other facilities.

3 Recent Alumnus

Scholarships: Everything went smoothly until my senior year when a multitude of hoops began appearing that I had to jump through to finish my education.

4 College Freshman

Majors: Physics is a great major. As long as you enjoy math and learning about how the world works. And as long as you are okay with a bunch of hard work.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: Living on campus is great depending on which dorm you live in. Close to all campus amenities.

3 College Sophomore

Greek Life: Greek Life is not very popular. Greek life is a minority group at App State

3 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: Police are somewhat strict, but not excessively strict.

Parking: I have not had to have a car while on campus. Most places are easier to walk to anyway. Just about everything of interest on campus is within walking distance, and the Appalcart runs to places off campus so you're pretty much covered.

Drug Safety: Every college has drug and alcohol abuse on campus. I feel as if Appalachian does an average job on taking care of this problem on campus.

Health & Safety: ASU's campus safety is very well monitored. We have the "blue light system" in which blue lights are strategically placed all throughout campus, and if you ever feel as if you are being chased or in danger you press the button in which police are dispatched. This feature allows me to feel safe when alone around campus. Safe ride is another thing offered to App students, which allows us to call after dark and get rides from one place to another on campus. I always feel safe here at school and have never had to worry about anything.

Guys & Girls: There are a variety of students at App State. Some of them rave, some go to hookah bars, some just relax with their friends. There is a large music scene here at App as well. If you just take your guitar or other instrument out to one of the main fields, then you are bound to find someone to jam with.

Off-Campus Housing: The variety of places to live off campus at Appalachian State is absolutely amazing. There are many off campus places to live, most at a affordable cost. Most apartments are single leases, which is very nice. Plus 89% of the apartments include all the amenities in the monthly cost. Who can beat that!?

5 College Junior

Transportation: The transportation services in Boone North Carolina is amazing. All services are included in your tuition each semester. There is Safe Ride transportation for night time. We also have great services for long-distance transportation, which is very affordable.

5 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: There are many local businesses that are diverse in selection and have great quality. Boone is a great place for food enthusiast

4 College Junior

Computers: Good tech department. Helpful. Computers are up and running. Access to many helpful features.

4 College Junior

Campus Dining: Lots of options healthy, fast food, vegetarian options, normal American food.

5 College Junior

Majors: The professors are nice but challenging. You leave the program ready for a job if you put in the effort to learn what they teach and apply it.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: Boone is usually a very safe town. There was a rape near (not on) campus recently. But the university sent out an e-mail letting everyone know what had happened. On campus there are these emergency blue light phones everywhere that will alert the police to your location with a push of a button.

3 College Freshman

Campus Dining: It depends on where you go. Central is good, but it can get repetitive after a while. McAlister's in the student union is good, but not cheap. Trivette is just awful. Seriously only go there to use their waffle maker or for the free refills.

4 College Freshman

Transportation: The AppalCarts are really great and go all over campus and town. However, they can sometimes be a little late and the schedules they run are weird. Overall, it's very convenient to have.

5 College Freshman

Athletics: All the sports are great here! Students even get into all home sporting events for free! The atmosphere at football and basketball games is awesome but even baseball and soccer get lots of student support! Appalachian definitely has the best fans around!

4 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: There are traditional dorms and some nicer dorms in which each room has its own bathroom. The school has a laundry view system that can send you text messages when your clothes are done. That is super helpful. The housing process is simple and straight forward. All in all, living on campus isn't awful.

4 College Sophomore

Athletics: Sports are big at ASU. There is lots of school spirit. Our teams train hard and play hard. The athletics department gets very good funding and there are plent of sports to choose from if you want to get involved. In 2014, App State will be leaving the Southern Conference and going the Sun Belt. Everyone is excited for the change.

3 College Freshman

Diversity: Although it is clear that diversity is prevalent at ASU, I wish that the International RLC was in a dorm that it more central to campus. It is in the LLC, which is the furthest distance from all of the other dorms. I think it would make a significant difference if the International RLC was held in a dorm closer to the bulk of students.
