Tuition & Financial Aid: Receiving financial aid depends on your status, but if you do receive it, it becomes scarce. So it is important to save some money for the hard times that are coming. Don't expect the money that you receive is for you to go on shopping sprees, it should only be used for the supplies, housing/rent, and tuition towards this school. The amount you receive here is actually pretty decent but make it last.

2 College Sophomore

Career Services: Career Center – It needs more people helping out there, there isnt enought workers which makes 2 hour line waiting

2 College Sophomore

Campus Resources: They have materials for students who cant afford books but not enough.

Academic Experience: Professors Dont Teach Good Enough – i passed CPR and first aid class with a B , but i didn't learn a single thing there. i tried to pay attention but he contradicted himself. we took about two test one that was hands on , and i didn't do good but he passed me with a B and another was written , and it was also a B , i got certified but i am scared to be in a situation where i will need to do CPR because i feel like i know nothing about it.

Student Body: We have a wide variety of different cultures and everyone seems to get alone well together. Many of the students are working and trying to classes around their work schedules.

Campus Resources: Facilities Are Improving – Currently in the process of building new buildings to make more room on the campus for classes. Library is not to bad but it is not always quit upstairs.

Academic Experience: Class Are Hard to Get Into – I'm a Health Science major and I'm having a hard time getting into the prerequisite class to be accepted into the program. I'm find that it is very frustrating not getting the priority to get into the classes that I need. I feel that registration should not be catered to the incoming high school students. I wish registration was based off of grades earned. I find that the workload is not to intense. I really enjoyed the classes when I have instructors show a passion for the subject their teaching and want their students to succeed.

Online Courses: Convienient but Difficult – It is more difficult to engage with an instructor over email than face to face. For classes that are less demanding, it is very convienient.

3 College Junior

Overall Experience: Some Great Teachers. Terrible Administration. The teachers I've had have been amazing. They go out of their way to make sure students are able to succeed. The administration appears to be there to make sure the students fail. Administration offices are populated almost solely by people who don't know anything about their department or actively don't care about students. If it were not for the teachers, I would have left long ago.

Campus Resources: Slow, but Convienient – There are several computer labs on campus, making it easy to find a computer to work on. The network is old, but I've never lost anything on it. It's just a bit slow.

Academic Flexibility: In Order to Have Order – Many professors stick to their syllabi in order to have a more consistent school year. This consistency allows students to have a better understanding of what is to come throughout the year and not be surprised by any homework assignments. The material is laid out it front of them and they are responsible on how to handle their own lives to work around the school syllabus. This gives the student a sense of control over their lives with a firm scholarly structure.

Academic Experience: Professor Covell – This teacher knows his material. He is very fond of gothic literature and is firm believer that students don't always have to use scholarly words in describing their thoughts. He does however expect good, well-written essays. The dialogue used in the classroom is very relaxed and fun, but he also knows when to set things straight and focus on what needs to be discussed. He uses other media such as film and music to help him set a mood and context to what the class will be discussing for the day. He give great pointers on graded papers and often allows students to correct their mistakes. I would say he has a great sense of pazazz and originality and other students would agree as well.

Career Services: Job Placement – My school has a job placement center if a student is looking for a job while going to college they will help you find a job.

3 College Freshman

Campus Resources: Great Social Atmosphere – My school has a good community feel to it. The school often embraces the different cultural holidays and celebrations.

Tuition & Financial Aid: Apply Early – The education I am getting is well. I was able to get Financial aid which was able to help me pay for books and the classes I get. Because I applied early I was able to get my tuition payed for. But the college is going through budget cuts like the rest of the community colleges in California.

Student Body: Many Money-Seeking, Unmotivated People. Let me start with there are many, many people there who truly care about improving themselves and getting an education. On the other hand, there are many there who "attend college" for no other apparent reason than financial aid. They don't care about their futures, apparently, because they don't try and just take their money and leave. They are disruptive wastes of classroom space and tax payers dollars. Besides them however! You can find many wonderful students here :)

3 College Junior

Online Courses: Can Be Easier. Online classes can be a lot easier if you stay on top of it. The hard part is keeping yourself on top of the reading, but do that and you'll be fine. It can be easier because the quizzes/tests are open book.

Academic Experience: What You Make of It. It can be really hard to get classes. I recommend being an athlete or honors student (if your grades qualify) in order to get better registration. Use ratemyprofessors.com because some teachers can be horrible. Other than these things I have had wonderful classes and really enjoyed my learning experiences. It is what you make of it.

Campus Resources: There are many facilities on campus. I am not aware of them all. I have used the student service center and the library and found them both easily accessible.

Campus Resources: Antelope Valley School (AVC) is student friendly to all types of students young or old, new, or recurring. I am a mother of two and have not been to school in many years. I found AVC faculty to be very helpful and easy to talk to. I am also a veteran and the veteran services are the best I have ever come across! When I first met the veteran financial aid person she gave me a hug and thanked me for my service!

4 College Sophomore

Tuition & Financial Aid: Pleasant and Easy – I qualify for the bog fee waiver so classes are not expensive for me at all. Financial aid is enough for me to just focus on getting an education and not get a job. Sure, I still have a lot of worries money-wise, but the whole financial aid process at my college does not add to it.

3 College Junior

Academic Flexibility: Lack of Course Offerings in a Timely Manner – I waited 5 years to take one class, 2 years to take a different class. The way the system is going, it is impossible to finish an AA or AS in 2 years!

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: AVC has enabled my family and me to take classes for the past 6 years. My son and I will graduate Spring 2012.

3 College Student

Campus Resources: Computer Labs and Wireless – There are computer labs but they are often over crowded. Most of the time, there aren't enough computers available for use. The wireless is terrible because you have to pay for it. Other than that, the connection gets the job done.

4 College Student

Student Body: Everyone seems to be friendly enough if they have time. Most of the students really just want to have a good time so they are always very chatty. There are people from every ethnic background at AVC. It is a very diverse school.
