3 College Senior

Campus Resources: Not Enough Hours – There is not enough time to work in the library or comp labs

2 College Junior

Academic Experience: Transfer Credits Are a Priority. There is not really anything that you can have a substantial major in. Just work towards an AA while doing transfer courses.

3 College Junior

Campus Resources: Computer Labs Are Open to Everyone. There are usually plenty of computers that are open for use and most of the time things run smoothly.

3 College Junior

Campus Resources: Most Things Are Present. At the moment there is not any sort of medical center, although this will change soon.

3 College Junior

Academic Flexibility: Best Choice in the Immediate Area. Antelope Valley College is a great school for people who live close to get credits for transferring to other colleges.

4 College Student

Academic Experience: Great Professors – I have been lucky enough to have some really great professors that do their best to make sure we understand the material and get the best grade possible. I know there are others that do not have that goal in mind but a majority of them do.

2 College Student

Student Body: Half and Half – Half of the student body is hard working and career oriented, the other half don't even want to be there and don't care who it affects if they slack off and drop out.

3 College Student

Overall Experience: Need More Classes – If we had more classes available to us I think all the students would be much happier.

Campus Resources: Computer Network – The computer avaliabilty is very good at the school , it only gets crazy around finals and mid terms which is to be execpted. The only problem is that the wi-fi doesn't work on campus which makes it hard to do a project on your own computer if you dont have internet. The computer staff isn't very friendly but if help is needed it's there for you need it.

Campus Resources: Facilties Are Okay – The school has very little classes to offer and when they do have the classes needed they are taken by the people that are there just to collect their finacial ad checks. The teachers and student resources are good , its really just the lack of class space and classes avaliable.

3 College Junior

Career Services: Not Sure – I do not work here nor have I tried, but from what I can tell, they do.

3 College Junior

Academic Flexibility: Most of the workers here simply do not care about your schedule. All they want id for you tio get things done the way they want it, and if you cannot, then oh well.

Overall Experience: Pretty Good – It is a relatively small school, but it offers a select group of faculty who are friendly for the most part, others may not be so much. The students are good, and some are bad. Bad as in lazy, drug abusers, etc. BUt overall I have enjoyed my time here.

Academic Experience: Hit and Miss – At AVC some professors are extremely helpful while others seem to favor only certain students. My personal experience has reinforced that idea in my mind. Last semester in my ENGR 120 class the professor, Professor Suave, was extremely helpful and extremely patient with everyone in the class. That was by far my favorite class that entire semester. However, my ENGR 115 professor was the exact opposite,he was very impatient with anyone who was confused on a topic and sometimes refused to explain the concept to those who didn't understand. I found myself being a miniature teacher in that class for over ten student to try and explain the concepts they were not understanding and even making time to meet outside of class with them on top of my ever increasing schedule. Overall its the luck of the draw on the academic experience and your learning style; if your more of a hands on learner than some professors are just not going to work for your learning style. Sometimes you'll get lucky and find a professor who cares about each individual student and then other times you'll find professors that either have a select group they favor or just don't care period.

Tuition & Financial Aid: Decent Prices – The overall fees for tuition are decent compared to some 4 year universities; however, the books are outrageously priced or extremely low quality if bought used. My PSYCH 101 textbook had multiple pages missing from it and was very beat up when I bought it. Financial aid is fairly good from what I've heard although I do not qualify with my parents income even though they threw me out of their house but still claimed me as a dependent so I could not receive any financial aid. I work in the Foundation and Advancement Office at AVC and have found out first hand that they have an extremely good scholarship program where students can fill out one application and be placed into over 75+ Scholarships. Everyone in that office works extremely hard so when it comes to aid through scholarships I have no complaints.

Overall Experience: Although this school has a decent selection of classes, a somewhat helpful staff, and a few caring professors I've noticed a lot of flaws in the overall quality of this college. Although they are updating buildings and even building a new nursing building some other parts of campus are just forgotten it seems. When I was in my basic 2D auto cad class there were issues with some of the computers. My professor tried everything he could to get them fixed and eventually the I.T guy came to fix it... 2 months into class and even then didn't fix it! Furthermore some of the professors are completely unhelpful. For example, in my ENGR 115 class a few students didn't understand the idea of auxiliary drawings, they proceeded to ask the professor who then looked up with a grin saying "I can't spoon feed it to you." I thought professors were getting paid to teach not to leave students in the dust. However the rest of the class proceeded to teach the few who were confused. Overall however this college is adequate; some of the staff are very helpful (i.e. job placement) while other not so much (registration). I had to spend over 6 hours and 3 different trips to register in my Math 150 course although I had all of the correct qualification. If I could I would gladly have chosen a different college but could not due to the small selection here in Antelope Valley.

5 College Junior

Career Services: Career Center – the career center actually helps you out a lot. anywhere from Job placement, or helping you find the type of career that best suits you, they are really helpful

1 College Junior

Academic Experience: Class Registration Process – registering for classes are pointless at AVC because the odds of you getting into the classes are very slim

2 College Junior

Campus Resources: Computer Labs – the computer labs at AVC, are quite bad. my highschool had better computer labs. i thought that college was suppose to be a step up from highschool but i guess i was wrong. The network is very slow at avc, which is pretty sad considering rhat it is a college. I hope they can fis this problem and soon.

3 College Junior

Online Courses: It depends on the person, I prefer online courses. I am a tech savvy person so it is easier for me to work around the computer. AVC uses black board as a online tool for online courses. For the most part it is an ok program. There could be so minor adjustments to improve the overall use of it. For example, some teachers need to be trained to properly use the program before trying to host an online class. They should take courses on the program itself before being thrown into the ring.

4 College Junior

Academic Flexibility: I am currently a work study participant and the administration at AVC is very flexible. They are always willing to work around my class and study time. The staff there always tell student workers that their education comes first.

4 College Senior

Campus Resources: The campus is diverse especially within the class rooms. I believe that it fits the community and that is why AVC is so diverse. Even the faculty come from all walks of life so it goes hand in hand.

College Student

Career Services: Community College – AVC is community college with no post grad services.

4 College Student

Campus Resources: Good Resources – The resources are there if you need them. the library is nice. Very big. The student center is always busy. New football and softball complex.

4 College Student

Campus Resources: Quality Teaching – This college has excellent instructors for the community college level. They are caring, skilled, and well-trained. I feel like they care about a student's education and put effort into education.
