Local Atmosphere: I've been in San Angelo for a long time. I like the environment but I would like to try something new in the future. San Angelo is perfect because its not big or small but it does lack some entertainment. I've seen improvement because there is more activities in the community.

Local Atmosphere: San Angelo still has the small town mentality, everybody speaks. It is growing because of the oil boom in the east Texas area.

Local Atmosphere: Most people transfer schools because the town doesn't have a variety of activities to offer. The nightlife is sub par and not many attractions are present either.

San Angelo is a city that thinks of itself as a small Texas town. It has a small mall, Walmart, Sam's Club, and many other major stores and restaraunts, but it never feels too big or too crowded. Those from larger cities might feel the town is boring because of the lack of variety, but those from smaller towns enjoy the conveniences that San Angelo has to offer. In recent years, the downtown area of San Angelo has really started to liven up, and now many people enjoy shopping at the boutiques and specialty stores. For those who prefer shopping local, downtown San Angelo is perfect.

As far as the campus goes, it is small and friendly, and there is usually something going on every week. ASU takes care to have many events in the beginning of the academic year to give students time to meet new people and forge friendships. The residence halls also make sure to have events throughout the year to allow students to meet others who live in their same dorms. The ASU campus is friendly in the West Texas fashion, as most students are from the surrounding area. Students are not afraid to approach each other or make small talk in the elevator.
