5 College Freshman

Campus Housing: I Love the Housing Options and Floor Plans. The dorms at Angelo State Univeristy are some of the best I have ever seen. I was currently enrolled at Texas Tech and Angelo State's are far more convient and nicer. One has the option of privacy, non-community bathrooms, and bigger living areas.

Health & Safety: Security Is Very Good. There is always good safety measures. Easy emergency access and police patrol.

4 College Student

Campus Dining: San Angelo Community – the town is a great little place mainly populated by the military base and the college. It is a steadily growing place with several attractions.

Local Atmosphere: San Angelo – the town is a great little place mainly populated by the military base and the college. It is a steadily growing place with several attractions.

Greek Life: Greek and Proud – I am a Delta Zeta at Angelo State University and we really try to interact with the school as much as possible. We are just like everyone else since Greek life is relatively new so we have no Greek houses. A couple fraternities have little places they call their house off-campus but they are mainly used for a place to have parties.Greeks are stereotyped by non-Greeks as being stuck up and the rich kids, but I blame that on Hollywood because that is how most people know about frats/sororities. I'm not saying some of us aren't stuck up but most of us are really cool.

Computers: People Are Usually Present – There is only one computer lab at Angelo State University and it usually has at least five people on a computer, but during midterms and finals it gets really crowded. It's not that bad since the library has laptops you can check out. Most students do have their own laptops as well and you can pretty much get WiFi anywhere.

4 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: Average Dining – San Angelo is big enough to have at least 1 of most everything. It is a bust for Vegetarian types most likely because of isolation and lower population. Places like Buffalo Wild Wings are always packed between the campus and the military base.

3 College Junior

Academics: Communication Major – I find my major fascinating and the degree is a good catch all for many different jobs. The facilities are average and they are good about internship opportunities and student employment

College Junior

Nightlife: Not Much of a Night Lifer – I rarely go out late so I am unfamiliar with the nightlife quality.

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: Hard to Find Cheap Living – Overall San Angelo isn't too expensive to live in compared to the rest of the country. The cheap student housing is usually not a bargain for other reasons than cost, and are major party centers. The dorms are expensive too, but if you know where to look you can get good cheap housing.

4 College Junior

Local Atmosphere: Small and Cozy – San Angelo is a small city, just big enough to have the comforts of a City but the feel of a town. It is a relaxing place to live and convenient. The downside is it is located hours away from any major city and off of major highways. Shopping is not an attraction but the city hosts many cultural events and entertainment.

3 College Junior

Athletics: On the Upward Side of Mediocre – School spirit is fine, and many people attend sporting events on campus, but overall turnout is much less than say Texas Tech. I think if the teams did better they would have more support.

4 College Junior

Campus Housing: Best Dorms Around – Angelo State has very good quality dorms, the only downside is they are a bit expensive. The campus is small enough that it is an easy 15 minute walk to the other end of campus from any dorm.

3 College Junior

Computers: Printing on Campus – Purchase printer paper at the beginning of the semester and some need much less or much more. I believe you should be given different options at the beginning semester not just required fee.

College Sophomore

Majors: Not There Yet – for the nursing program we can't apply until we're done with pre requsites. But it is very competitive.

3 College Sophomore

Scholarships: Fairly Easy – If you stay on top of the due dates and all the papers you have to turn in you are guaranteed a good 1000 for a semester, help but not much if its compared to the tuition total with the dorms and meal plan.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Dining: ASU has the food service center which is a buffet style if you have a meal plan the food can be ok, and we also have the food court at the University Center which can get pretty boring since all you can get with meal plan are burgers and pizza. And the hours aren't very flexible for students who work.

3 College Sophomore

Diversity: A Little of Everything – Most are white and from San Angelo or surrounding cities. Kinda tough when pretty much everyone knows each other there.

5 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: Dorms Are the Best – One of the things that attracted me to attend this school was the dorms they are great clean and quiet.

4 College Sophomore

Computers: Labs Get Crowded Everyday and No Open Spots – Great computer labs but they should more because of the increase in students over the years.

3 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: Life on Campus – Our campus really isn't a strict campus. Just follow the rules and you will be great.

4 College Freshman

Drug Safety: Drugs are not prohibited a certain amount of feet from our campus. Alcohol is not accepted at all. If caught there are consequences and repercussions.

5 College Freshman

Health & Safety: Safe and Secure – We have so many police who watch the campus that really makes you feel safe. To make things better we even have a police station on campus. I really love how safe I feel on campus.

3 College Freshman

Facilities: The library, while large in size, does not typically meet my needs and they charge quite a lot for turning something in late. I'd rather go to the public library for that.
The athletic center, honestly I haven't been in a while, but when I did go there it was nice if not a little crowded.
Campus activities are nice and are quite fun to be a part of so that's a bonus.
ASU is pleasing to the eye for the most part, with it's lush green grass in certain areas. However, there are also parts of the campus that don't look very good, the grass is dying and there are decaying animals lying about. Not a very good look or feel for the campus.

4 College Sophomore

Facilities: The rec center on campus is really nice. they have four courts in the gym, with room for volleyball, badminton and basketball. There are also 4 racquetball courts in the rec center. The university also just refurbishing the weight room, which has become the main attraction lately, as a rock wall was put up. The rec center is also ran by students, allowing opportunities for work study.

Angelo State University, and San Angelo by extension, has a small, friendly feel. In addition to a standard choice of majors, ASU offers many programs throughout the semester for entertainment, and there is a club for everyone if a student does some digging. No matter what taste a student has, there will be a club of like-minded people, and overall, people are generally accepting of each other, even if they disagree with them.

The city has all the comforts of a larger city with the feel of a small town. There is very little to be left wanting when at ASU or in San Angelo. However, students that come from larger metropolitan areas may find the small size on the boring side due to minimal variety. On the flip side, students coming from rural ares are likely to love having things to do without a long drive. A few students dislike the area, and a few students love it, but overall, many are happy with the choice to come to ASU.
