5 College Junior

Transportation: There is a lot of public transportation. Metro and cabs can get you all over the city. There are a few close airports. Parking is a little expensive if you bring a car but worth it. There is a bus that can take you from campus to the closest metro stop and it is convenient.

4 College Freshman

Transportation: Shuttle is free, and runs to tenley every ten minutes or so, which is pretty convenient. The metro can get you virtually anywhere you need to go. Most people have an uber account which is pretty convenient.

5 College Junior

Transportation: Transportation is extremely easy! Shuttle will take you to the Tenleytown Metro, which can be taken all over DC, or you can take the bus at any of the locations near school. Great transportation services

4 College Sophomore

Transportation: Really great free bus transportation to the red line and to the law school.

4 College Sophomore

Transportation: Metro is easy to get to since AU has free shuttles to the Tenleytown station. The Metro train and bus system pretty much allows you to go anywhere you want to in the city. There are also plenty of Taxis around if you need to go somewhere out of reach of public transportation.

Hands down, D.C. is celebrated by students as one of the easiest cities to get around. The Metro, one of the cleanest and most efficient subway systems in the nation, runs through D.C. and even into parts of Virginia and Maryland. Students at AU praise the Metro for its ease, convenience, and proximity to campus. They are able to visit other neighborhoods and get around town both quickly and inexpensively.

The Tenleytown Metro stop is the closest to AU, and a short shuttle ride from campus to the stop links students to the entire D.C. area. With such an extensive Metro system, public transportation is definitely the preferred method of transportation among American University students.
