Guys & Girls: Definitely more girls than guys on campus, and a large Gay/Lesbian presence here at AU. Guys generally fall into four categories: gay, hipster, geeky, or fratty. AU goggles is real and refers to the fact that many guys are alright looking but often considered 'hot' due to the lack of good looking guys on campus and as a result get a huge head and become very douchey. I'm a girl in greek life and consider the best looking guys as non-greek and athletes! Rugby, soccer, and basketball among the best. For girls- we're alright, incoming classes have been getting better-looking. "top three" sororities are among the best looking here at AU, as well as athletes.

Guys & Girls: The guys on campus are usually very well put together, as well as the girls. Fashion is clearly something people put effort into at this school. Girls and guys all seem to come off as intelligent, interesting and confident.

The cosmopolitan and ambitious student body tends to place a greater emphasis on individuality, motivation, and intelligence than on appearance, but a fresh, clean-cut look doesn’t hurt, either.

Straight women at AU complain that satisfactory boyfriends are hard to find, as girls considerably outnumber the guys on campus. Plus, there is a notable gay population. Exploring the greater city may be a more efficient way to hook up. Don’t be afraid to go out and meet people at bars, clubs, city organizations, or just on the street. While it is somewhat difficult to find straight, good-looking guys, they do exist at AU—you just have to look a little harder.

Social Scene
The social scene at AU is varied-there's something for everyone. However, AU has an overwhelming female population. Therefore, many of the more attractive young women on campus either lower their standards-looks-wise-or choose to head off campus to find an equally attractive male counterpart. Ladies, do not fear, though: D.C. is full of eligible bachelors. Be sure to check out the frat and house parties, clubs, bars, and shows in the area.
Hookups or Relationships?
Both hookups and relationships exist commonly at AU, and both can be obtained if interested. Many of the busiest students opt for hookups, though, so as not to interfere with their schoolwork or internships.
Dress Code
Because AU is in the highly-professional capital city, the dress is more formal than most places. Students are often seen wearing suits while coming and going from internships or jobs, with slacks and collared shirts not unusual. Outside of the professional aspect of the fashion at AU, the students are indistinguishable from any other college students. Hoodies and flip-flops are everywhere!
