3 College Freshman

Athletics: not everyone is interested in sport

3 College Junior

Athletics: Varsity sports aren't given nearly enough credit here. Everyone is more concerned about themselves and their own ambitions to be huge sports supporters, which leads to a lack of school spirit. Hopefully things will be more spirited now that Men's Basketball made it so far this past year.

4 College Sophomore

Athletics: Athletic facilities are great for both athletes and non-athletes.

3 College Freshman

Athletics: The gym has great hours and it's not packed ( if you know when to go). The staff is friendly and keep things in order

2 College Senior

Athletics: School spirit doesn't exist at AU. The only time I have seen people get excited is when we went to March Madness.

Though the sports teams are Division I, and there are several intramural teams, sports do not receive the attention and notoriety that they would at some other schools. Many of the bigger sports fans on campus complain about the absence of a football team. AU is not a school where athletes receive celebrity-like attention or preferential treatment. While a football team is often the focal point of college life, there are many other ways to get involved at AU.

Some students are trying to get their peers more excited—a club known as the Blue Crew goes "all out" at the games, painting their faces and coming up with their own cheers. Basketball and volleyball are popular sports, and in the rare instance where a game is being televised, the turnout is better than usual.
