4 College Sophomore

Facilities: Athletics are almost nonexistent. Library is amazing. Several parks are in close proximity to school including the Champs de Mars and the Eiffel Tower.

5 College Sophomore

Facilities: Social scene is unbeatable with Paris as the backdrop of all university nightlife. Academics are challenging but not impossible. There is no campus or dorms. There are 8 buildings which are spread around a Parisian neighborhood which form the "campus". School offers many connections in the business, political, and artistic world.

4 College Senior

Facilities: Going to this school is more about the culture of living and experiencing Paris rather than the University.

Because there aren't any real dining halls or residence halls on campus, the facilities are restricted to the academic buildings. The American University of Paris Library has more than 79,000 books, 1,900 films, 300 CDs, and 7,300 feet of shelving. Plus, it has a great view of the Eiffel Tower!

Traditions
  • Back-to-School Party: After winter break, the student body rents out a club to throw the Back-to-School Party, which draws in the new students, so it's a good way to meet new members of the school community.
  • Pub Crawl: This usually takes place in the fall term. Students sign up to be in a group with a student adviser who usually takes them around to some of the bars in the area. It's a great way to mix with the other students and explore some of the nightlife.
  • World's Fair: Almost everyone remembers this date. Various cultures are represented and there's a ton of food and drinks. If you mention it here, everyone will instantly know what you're taking about and start telling you around it.
Urban Legends
  • There is a poltergeist-like figure in the Grand Salon of Bosquet that is responsible for flickering the lights on and off when the building is closed for the night.
  • When the University was first opened, one incoming class was presented a dish of rabbit (Lapin à la moutarde) as a welcoming dinner. Apparently, earlier that same day a female student had reported her rabbit had escaped from its cage.
Favorite Things To Do
On breaks and at night, a lot of students can be found in the Amex bar and wandering around Bosquet. There are open-mic nights every Wednesday, raffles, and special drink prices. Other days, there's usually a movie to watch, and they keep the music playing with favorite and current songs. If you're looking for someone, that's usually the place to find them.
