Health & Safety: I have never been to the health and safety department but they are there if you need them. AUP is supportive in that aspect.

Overall Experience: Overall experience has been a relatively positive one; especially great food!

Local Atmosphere: Like I said, you are in Paris.

Scholarships: I was not involved in the scholarships but my friend was rewarded one!

Computers: It's not bad at all. Mixture of PC's and Mac's and there are several computer labs.

Campus Housing: It's absolutely amazing, not many people can say that Paris is their campus.

Transportation: The Paris metro system is one of the best transportation systems on the planet.

Guys & Girls: My friends at AUP who are girls are all very intelligent, driven, kind, open and beautiful people (aesthetically as well as personally speaking). The guys here are very open, outgoing, nice and interesting people. Everyone comes from different places in the world so it's difficult to generalize, but I have never had any problems meeting people here at AUP and finding friends. Everyone sort of bonds over coming from a unique background and being open to learning more about other backgrounds, cultures and places in the world.

Computers: AUP has two computer labs as well as many computers set up in the student library for students to utilize for assignments and deadlines throughout the year. The network reliability is extremely dependable and the network is generally very fast. I would recommend having your own laptop for your home when you're at AUP, because I personally like being able to work from home on my assignments and our buildings are not open 24 hours. Although, it could be manageable to do without one and use school computers and a usb drive if you cannot afford a laptop or would rather do so.

Local Atmosphere: Paris is one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the entire world and because of this the possibilities are endless. There are always fun things to do when you find that you have some free time - from museum exhibitions at the Louvre or the Musee D'Orsay to concerts, clubs, cafes, art gallery openings and wine tastings at local wine bars. The nightlife is impeccable and there is always something to do, see, eat or experience here in Paris.

Scholarships: Many of the students at AUP apply for financial aid and AUP is very helpful in giving out scholarships and financial aid to those students who need it and work hard in their classes.

Academics: I have found AUP's academics to be challenging and fulfilling. I appreciate the education that I am getting at AUP. Most of the professors that I have had have graduated from some of the top universities in the world including Cambridge, Oxford, Harvard, Georgetown, NYU, John Hopkins, etc. I also find that because the student body and faculty are so diverse, I am learning more than just the material in my textbooks. I am gaining countless different world perspectives on a day to day basis and have encountered many different opinions on global issues in almost all of my courses which is enriching, to me personally.

Diversity: AUP has one of the most diverse student bodies on the planet. When I walk into one of my classes sometimes I hear more than five or six languages being spoken at once. There are students from every continent who come to AUP to study and because of this I feel like I am getting a more well-rounded education in my field because I am being exposed to many different world perspectives.

AUP students are extremely accepting as we all come from different geographic, cultural, religious, political and economic backgrounds. There is no one typical AUP student because of this. One thing that all of my friends and acquaintances here at AUP have in common, though, is that they are all open to and are curious about learning of world perspectives, beliefs and cultural practices other than their own. So that may be what binds all of us together here at AUP: a curiosity for a more international and global experience in hope that we open our eyes a little more to how other people are living in the world and what we can do to change the world for the better once we graduate and settle into our careers.

Drug Safety: As AUP is located in Paris, France and the legal age to drink in France is 18, the vast majority of students at AUP have easy access to alcohol. Also, many of the school functions offer hors d'oeuvres and wine for the students and faculty to enjoy. The student cafe also serves wine, hard cider and beer. Although, if you do not feel like drinking alcohol or if you do not drink at all you can still have an active social life.

I know several AUP students who do not drink alcohol but still go out with friends to clubs, etc. If you can have a fun time without alcohol you won't be looked down for it. Possibly unlike some American universities where there may be a presence of peer pressure to drink alcohol or smoke weed, etc. here many of the students are not American and have been allowed to drink since they were 16-18 years old so there is less of a hype around "getting hammered" or "going hard". However, it is Paris, after all, and if that is something that you are interested in doing then you can definitely have a good time partying here as well.

There is a place for everyone at AUP. I have a few friends who do not drink at all yet still hang out with some of the biggest drinkers on campus. There is little peer pressure to do drugs or drink alcohol at AUP. If you want to drink you can, although if you are not such a big drinker, you don't have to worry about what other people are going to think because they probably won't care.

Majors: The professors at AUP are some of the best in the world and come from the best universities in the world. We also have an extremely diverse faculty as well as an extremely diverse student body. Over 70% of the professors at AUP are non-American.

Majors: My courses are extremely challenging now that I am no longer a freshman at AUP. I have found that I have been able to form very close relationships with the professors that I have had so far due to the small class size, which will ultimately help me when I start to apply to graduate schools and need to request recommendations from my past professors. Also, due to the fact that AUP has an extremely diverse student body as well as faculty, class discussions are always extremely eyeopening as I am constantly exposed to many different world views and perspectives. I have definitely enjoyed the professors I have had, courses I have taken and friends I have met so far here at AUP. This university constantly forces me out of my comfort zone on a day to day basis and therefore forces me to grow in more ways than I can begin to explain. I have moved to a different country, continent and culture and I have met people from all parts of the world and have learned about so many different ways of living by attending AUP. Many of the professors are from some the top universities in the world including Cambridge, Oxford, John Hopkins, NYU, Georgetown, etc. and aside from the amazing academic education that one receives at AUP, one also receives an experience unlike any other university experience in the Unites States (that I have ever heard of, at least).

Facilities: Athletics are almost nonexistent. Library is amazing. Several parks are in close proximity to school including the Champs de Mars and the Eiffel Tower.

5 College Sophomore

Academics: Not too difficult but incredibly interesting and fulfilling.

Guys & Girls: There are no fat people. Almost everyone is attractive. Student body is very hip. Sexual activity is rampant.

When students moan about University life over drinks, anyone passing by would assume that the students are just wasting their time at the University and not getting anything in return. This is the farthest thing from the truth. Students have the inalienable right to complain about anything that needs complaining about, with no one better to do it but themselves. The truth is, acceptance into the American University of Paris and within the University community is one of the greatest things to happen to most of the students. There's opportunity in the name of this institution. The ability to live independently abroad and be immersed in another culture, the humor that can be found in an individual's reaction to culture shock, and the whole experience in general—all of these things collectively make up what AUP is really about.

There is a definite advantage that comes with being at AUP. There's more to University life than just sitting around drinking, laughing, and forgetting that college doesn't last forever. In the end, all the memories blur together about what new clubs opened and who was there and with whom. It's about the individual a student becomes through his time spent at the American University of Paris. This not only includes a student's University education, but also his education of people and places and how he relates to all of this in the world. The University is a living, breathing, and changing example of how every individual makes up the community he lives in. There is a definite advantage in knowing what can be done with the strength of fresh individuality and a new, open perspective.
