Academic Flexibility: Diesel Tech and What Not to Do. Personally I have found my current classes to be right on the money for what I need to be doing. I do say though that one thing your should not do is start taking any of the diesel courses with out first taking DCDT 110, Diesel Engine Repair.

Overall Experience: I Started trying to apply for financial aid in April of 2011. Where I was met with several obstacles. I over came them one by one till they finally told me that I was getting my Financial aid. which required me to get my GED(that one was my fault), then I had to deal with several months of running around trying to figure out what else I needed for the financial aid.
I was met with nothing but lack of concern, and at points discontent from the financial aid staff at the school. But in the end I drudged through the mess and got awarded my Financial aid. Now being that I have late start classes they didn't give me my full amount of the money. I have only received $241. I'm still waiting for the rest of this quarters stipend.
The classes on the other hand have been great. The teachers even with lack of the course books till only a week before the classes started, have been able to formulate a really good curriculum. Its been very educational and fun at the same time. As well as they don't try and single anyone out to be more, or less capable then anyone else in the class.
Personally I would like to state that over all, just for the classes alone I would definitely choose this school again. I would like it though if the Financial Aid process could be refined, and a bit less of a hassle.

Academic Experience: My School – i think my major at my school is okay. There is a child center we can apply too and in use it for hands on classes. The homework is pretty common sence and there is a lot of writing, observing and interacting with kids. I just wish they had more differnt times schedules for some classes.

Campus Resources: ARC's Campus – Their athletic centers are average, student centers are somewhat useful, libraries are very useful for books/textbooks, printers, copy machines, borrowing supplies, and computers, campus activities are somewhat interesting. Half of the campus aesthetics look more up-to-date than the other half.

Tuition & Financial Aid: I think their tuition is fair and for the people who can't afford it can get a fee waiver and are eligible for financial aid grants. The classes are worth for the tuition. The financial aid office should be more "up-to-date" with everyone's financial aid status. Go to the financial aid office and figure out what grants you qualify for and look online and at school, jobs, churches, community centers, career centers, etc. for scholarships.

Campus Resources: Network Is Good – The computer network never has problems. The computer labs are very spacious and a great work enviroment.

Campus Resources: Funeral Service Program – One very unique thing about my school is the fact that it is the ionly school in the bay area that offer's the Funeral service program.

Student Body: The student body at American River College is very diverse, there are people from all walks of life. The school is very accepting of student from different backgrounds and there are no challenges in regards to diversity.

Campus Resources: American River College has several resources which include the athletic center, which is old and outdated, a brand new student center and library as well as various campus activities, such as job fairs, student council meeting, and lots of contruction of old buildings.

Academic Flexibility: Academic Flexibility – The flexibility of American River College is somewhat disappointing. There are very few classes and they are filled quickly. This college surely doesn't have enough staff to accomodate the 30,000+ students that attend. It is hard for me to take the courses I need to graduate unless I alter my schedule.

Campus Resources: Social Scene – I have been apart of the diversity team since it began. The events and some of the trianing I went through has opened my eyes just a little wider to the many cultures, races and hardships of individuas around me.

Overall Experience: I love attending American River College. I have met teachers that have impated my life. I have gotten invovled with events and commitees. I am excited to learn and a lot of the teachers see that. The school by itself is not why I like attending,it is the teachers and staff have made my experiance great.

Campus Resources: It's a community college. It's not much different than community colleges?

College Freshman

Overall Experience: Working on It – I have yet to really start attending, but the one class I took in high school on campus was good.

Campus Resources: Social Scene – I was not active in the social scene, but I did notice a lot of flyers for plays, dances etc.etc.

Overall Experience: I initially returned back to school because I was laid-off for the second time in two years. So I decided it was time to go back to school, so for the first year I only carried 6 units a semester because at that time I was still seeking employment. Suffice it to say there were no jobs available. Then I began to take school seriously, I spoke with the re-entry counselors and got advice on applying for scholarships. I met with the counselors at ARC and I was given an education goal plan to follow and followed it to the letter. So this is why I will be graduating in 2012 with an A.A. in Psychology . Over-all attending ARC was a great experience.

Campus Resources: I love that have tutors to help students who isnt just getting the subject just yet. I had one myself for math 125 and she was great! They also have a great English program I love it!

2 College Junior

Overall Experience: I love American River College because its so many people but at the same time the math teachers suck! Everytime I enroll into a math course I dont understand them because of their accents and they work in a super fast pace. I believe since their getting paid to teach they should teach correctly!

Tuition & Financial Aid: Simlilar to High School, but Everything Isn't Free – Although, Fall semester has not yet even begun yet. My visit to American River College has a very warm welcoming. I like how American River provides you so many resources that you have to know how to utilize these resources in order to achieve success in your direction of where you are heading towards to. And what makes my school unique is the diverse of what many students brought to American River College. Therefore, i would choose American river College again, because it is close to where i live and i wouldn't regret it.

Academic Experience: Human Services – this is a very unique field of interest...having been down the other road to misery...i have found that people are in need of help...even when they dont think there is any available to them. i used to think i knew what it took to help people, but this curriculum is awe inspiring and very educational.
