Overall Experience: Overall Content – I first started taking classes at ARC when I was in seventh grade. The teachers were really nice to me and have always been very helpful. Although the campus is not the newest, and there are not many events, I think the teachers are what make it special. They care for their students, are good at explaining the material in class, and will take the time to work with you in their office hours. There are some events on campus, but I never went to any. I was focused on my grades and education more than entertainment. I got a good education from wonderful teachers.

Campus Resources: Good Technology, but Too Crowded – The technology in the library is very up to date and user friendly; they even have someone ready to help if anyone needs it. The only complaint about the library's computer lab is that there are not enough computers. The only time I have not had to wait for a computer is right after the library opened, but after about eight in the morning, there always seems to be a wait to get a computer.

Campus Resources: Not Very Community Oriented – It is depressing most of the time. I feel anxious to leave campus, like its designed to make you want to go away. There really is no place where people can study and get coffee in one place, like a coffee or tea house. The library is decent, outdated, but the staff is nice most of the time. Not all the teachers have their books available at the library.

Academic Flexibility: Needs Improvement – American river college needs to think about its priorities. With the budget crisis, is it really necessary to remodel the cafeteria? We need to spend on better education and keeping classes available. They cut some of my favorite classes and fired my favorite teacher. It is scary, when you see what is happening to our education system. All semester I have been stressed and angry that it is getting more expensive to go to college yet the education is getting worse.

Campus Resources: Great Tutoring – Throughout high school I was always the one tutoring others, so when I got to college I assumed I wouldn't need help. After the first term I realized some extra help would be beneficial.
At ARC, they've got the Reading Across the Disciplines (RAD) program that sorts interested students into study groups at their time convenience.
Not only did we study, but we also bounced ideas off each other for the study guide, and learned beneficial habits for studying, reading, and taking notes as well.

Overall Experience: Clubs for All – There are many clubs and groups one can partake in on campus. However I have busy schedule with my classes, my job, and my sport, so I haven't made time to join a club. There are a few clubs I would be interested in, seeing as they have something for everyone.

They set up a Club Day several times a year, and often have small vendors set up their wares on campus.

Academic Flexibility: Convenient Class Times – There are many different time and teacher choices for different core classes, so the class you need can be taken at one's convenience.

Even though class prices are increasing at all schools, classes are still cheaper here than at a 4 year institution.

All of my professors have been extremely helpful when further assistance or clarification was needed as well.

The only downside is the parking, however there is a new parking structure in the works right now.

Campus Resources: Good Network – So far, I did not have any problems with the school network. The network reliability, speed, and wireless access was fast and excellent. The computer labs and printing on campus was reasonable and satisfactory.

Academic Experience: Registration Process Is Crazy. I've had pretty satisfied experiences with my professors, curriculum, workload and other considerations. However, when it comes to class registration process, it was really difficult and stressful. First of all, there are not many class options, so often times the classes are wait-list or closed. Secondly, the whole registering classes is online process, so it was very confusing when I had to do it the first time.

College Junior

Career Services: No Comment – I do not have any knowledge about post-grad services, and/or alumni network, so I don't really have anything to say.

Tuition & Financial Aid: I'm an international student at the school. And I just found out that the tuition got raised. I'm already paying so much more than the regular students, and there was not really clear notification about the change; I shockingly found out by reading something on the school website. And no one really told me about any financial aid as an international student. I wish that the school would send an e-mail or something to let us know about the fee increase, instead of letting them bluntly find out by their own.

Tuition & Financial Aid: The financial aid process at ARC at times can be time consuming and tedious but the people that are there are generally nice and help you figure things out.

5 College Sophomore

Campus Resources: Yay for Libraries – The library at American River College is amazing. The librarians are super nice and really helpful. You can even schedule appointments to meet with one to help you find sources. It's quick and easy to get books from any of the four colleges in the system, and they have online sources as well that are even accessible from home. The library makes finding sources a breeze.

Campus Resources: It's Pretty Good – I've for the most part not had too much trouble using the computers at American River College, but you are pretty much on your own if you have any issues. There are sometimes people around to help but not all are very helpful and some are rude like you should already know exactly what to do.

Tuition & Financial Aid: I dont qualify for financial aid. The classes are very expensive.

Campus Resources: What's unique about American River College is that it has a great program that allows me to work as a full time employee and also as a full time student. The pragram is for accelerated students. I love it because it gives me an opportunity to finish school sooner then a part time student can.

Tuition & Financial Aid: Very Helpful – The financial aid program is very accessible to students. I would expect most schools to create a very intimidating professional attitude towards financial aid, but ARC does a good job of being available to talk to students.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Resources: It's Just an Old School – The facility isn't bad in any way, it's just an older school. Our Cafeteria had to be torn down due to asbestos, but other than that, all of the buildings are fine.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Resources: No Complaints – Every professor I've had has been capable of using and utilizing the computer system, and the system has never crashed, and I've never lost and files as a result of it.

1 College Senior

Student Body: Rude, Entitled, Disrespectful – Students are rude to everyone including instructors, they act like just because they were born, they should not have to work hard, things should just be handed to them. Older students are much more polite and respectful. GO to school here at night if you can.

3 College Senior

Academic Experience: RN Program – I am still trying to get into the RN program. 4 attempts and still not drawn in lottery. moving on to CSU, will incur major student loan debt but have no choice if I want my degree.

Campus Resources: American River College has a vast amount of Resources to draw from.
The thing that struck me the most about this school is the attitude of helpfulness. They seem genuinely concerned about your education and you. The resources range from financial, disabilities, helping with registration, to a ride to your car at night. I have enjoyed going to school here.

5 College Freshman

Campus Resources: Campus Aesthetics – This is a college where you can easily make friends. The staff, and instructors will bend over backwards to help you succeed. There are so many support services available, such as counseling, veteran services, disabled students services, free tutoring, and athletic support services.I have been going here for a few years now, and this school feels like home, very comfortable.

3 College Freshman

Online Courses: Peer-To Peer Interaction – I find the on-line classes less personal than the typical classroom where you have more opportunity to meet fellow classmates, and organize study groups. On the other hand, the on-line courses are more self-paced, and allow independent studying at your convenience.
