4 College Senior

Campus Resources: We have a large computer lab in our library, which has printing as well as copying machines. We have ARC Guest Wifi all over our school. When using the computer you have your own personal work space which comes along with fast internet speed.

Online Courses: I took a math class once online. I really enjoyed the user friendly mymath lab and taking the tests online. It was less pressure to do so and I found myself very pleased with the way the professor handled answering back to our emails and what not.

3 College Sophomore

Academic Experience: American River provides all these services with just a few setbacks.

5 College Student

Campus Resources: There is an abundance of computers at ARC.
There is the library with roughly houses 200 computers, and also the student center which houses more computers as well. Most students are reluctant to use the computers, as they are seemingly open for use more than half the time of their availability.

Student Body: I had the "minus" simply because there is some racism around. Of course you'd want a good diversity on campus, but this also comes at a price. While waiting in line at the Financial Aide office, I overheard two guys imitating Asian accents which was disturbing. Though running into a racist person is rare.
The difference is huge when comparing a high school class to a college class. Some of your college classmates are old enough to be your parents, but they'll laugh at the same things you do which makes it all for the better. The different age groups help open your eyes about the world; everyone goes to college.

3 College Junior

Campus Resources: The computer network is really hard to connect to.

4 College Freshman

Academic Experience: My experience has been wonderful overall so far. Professors are always there to help if the help is needed, especially with their office hours. The worst experience would be actually getting IN to classes. The school is very impacted. It's very disappointing sometimes because many of the students aren't actually committed to the class and take spots.

3 College Freshman

Academic Experience: Being a Computer Science major is confusing at first. ARC requires an unnecessary pre-requisite "FAKE" code class that is required before you can take an actual, transferable course. This wasted an entire semester for me. Also, my experience with this class and the teacher was horrible. Since the classes are so impacted, I was forced to take a teacher with a very bad reputation.
This semester, I have a wonderful teacher for a C++ based class. Experience with him so far is great.

College Freshman

Career Services: If there is any service in this area I have never received it or even herd of it. Usually the teachers do a good job of letting students know about services the school offers.

3 College Freshman

Online Courses: The online classes are pretty much the exact same information you get in a face to face class. The workload is the same (maybe a little more because you have to teach your self, but no more than the amount of time you would spend in a face to face class room. Registration is EXACTLY the same. Professor/student relationship is the same other than the fact that you are communicating via e-mail. Depending on the class there may be no peer-to-peer interaction but there are conversation boards available if the teacher decides to use one.

Tuition & Financial Aid: Financial aid takes for ever. The office has only 2 windows and always has a long line waiting. It wouldn't be such a problem if you only had to go once, but once you submit a document, they find a different document you need to submit and have to wait in line again, or they don't give you the right information in the first place. It is pretty frustrating. It wastes hours of your time each semester.

College Sophomore

Academic Experience: I just started American River College 2 weeks ago, so it is too soon for me to judge.

4 College Junior

Campus Resources: The library is 3 stories and fully stocked with excellent resources that include online databases and multimedia collections. The Student Services building is brand new and includes a Starbucks, Subway and 3 other restaurants. there is a football field worth of seating both in the dining and study areas. There is a Learning Resource Center with over a hundred computers and individual tutoring on both a scheduled and drop-in basis. There is also a computer lab that is always staffed with helpful assistants that can usually answer any questions that I have.

4 College Junior

Student Body: Really Good Mix – There is a really good mix of ethnicities and ages.

4 College Junior

Academic Experience: I have taken many classes and found most to be very interesting and enjoyable. The staff are very helpful and knowledgable in their subject areas. I am always able to find additional help in many forms such as one-on-one with the professors during office hours, group and individual tutoring and working with classmates in groups or online using the D2L course management system.

3 College Junior

Tuition & Financial Aid: I currently receive financial aid from multiple sources without dificulty. The secret is to not procrastinate and file all your paperwork well before the end of the previous semester so there is no delay.

5 College Junior

Career Services: Great resource, They helped me find a part time internship in my field.

4 College Junior

Academic Flexibility: Excellent tutoring services and lots of computers and study areas. Brand new parking structure and enormous Student Center with Starbucks and restaurants. Easy Transfer – Alot of help with the transfer process. Counselors from CSUS visit quite often.

4 College Sophomore

Academic Experience: At my school, within the cooking majors, they offer good-training.
There are classes available, with loads of tools, outfits, books, and even certificates required that you will need regardless when working in the food industry. So it helps already having them prior to landing the job. You are also required to do a specific amount of hours of catering, which is scary, but really helps a lot!

Student Body: People everywhere are different, but there are some types of people who are very similar where ever you are in the world. Unfortunately, our society has doomed itself. People these days have no morals or ethics, and act recklessly, with no concern for others or themselves. They are selfish, unloyal, and do not tell the truth. I would love to be able to say that people are good and fair, get along, and have came along way within the years. But Unfortunately, that is not the case. It is actually quite the opposite. The golden-Olden days are gone, and with those years, the good, brave people went with them. In their place was left the scared, senseless people, that listen and believe in everything they hear, and do not care to find things out (like the truth) for themselves. However, not all people are like this, but in Sacramento that is the case.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Resources: The school offers a few different options for using computers, books, printers, scanners, and copying machines.
The internet is not too-easy to access, and only works in parts of the school, but i figure that is for specific reasons. And A personal computer is much needed for school work. Unfortunately, everything must be typed.

Campus Resources: American River College offers many options to help the students. This, including a few different places to use computers, printers, copying machines, scanners, books, etc. They also offer a few places to get food, beverages, relax, use the bathroom, etc. There is even a shuttle that will pick you up and escort you to your car as long as it is on school grounds. And with the campus police and security patrolling often, it makes us feel safe and welcome while on the campus. Another thing I really like about our school, is that they also offer personal help. Such as counselling, office hours if you wish to speak to teachers, a health center, and financial aid as well. ARC is a great school, and goes hand-in-hand with the students to help guide them through their education, trying to make things as easy as they can.

2 College Sophomore

Campus Resources: American River college is a great school, and offers a variety of options to help students prior, during, and after school. They have a very nice campus, with unique, relaxing places to concentrate on your work. However, I only give them a B because they do not have many classes, at least not for me. The staff and students are very respectful, and courteous. I enjoy being a student at American River college.

3 College Sophomore

Online Courses: i'm really not that well online but i require a lot of help so i could do it if i put my mind to. it wasn't so much of the workload it was understanding what i was learning , since i had no professors to ask directly i was a little lost.

4 College Sophomore

Online Courses: I have only taken one online course, it was Music History 300. I found it to be super easy, all the instructions are online and so many ways to score points. As long as you do enough work to earn a certain amount of points to earn a grade. I did nothing at all until the last week when everything was due and did everything and got an A. It was not hard at all just time consuming because I procrastinated.
