5 College Junior

Campus Resources: the student services center is very inviting i can go there and get financial aid info, eops, testing done all in one

5 College Junior

Career Services: from what i have seen the career center does have a high rate of students that go through there employed.

5 College Junior

Campus Resources: i take my laptop with me to school they provide wi fi to students its always fast and running. they also have access to student labs where there are computers, printers, and all other technical equipment.

4 College Freshman

Academic Experience: I find my professors to be very knowledgeable and easly accessiable.

4 College Freshman

Student Body: The student body in this school is great, its diverse in culture, and everybody has a friendly positive attitude. Students are open-minded and are willing to help anybody who needs it.

4 College Freshman

Academic Experience: Although I have changed majors, my previous experience at this school has taught me that if you want to learn something here, you'll learn it, with time, effort, and focus, you can achieve anything here.

4 College Freshman

Academic Experience: While American River College is a community college, it is a great step for students who are interested in pursuing a two year degree, or a four year college transferable degree in a wide variety of courses. Students can focus on many different areas of study, ranging from athletics, math, science, technology, to construction, performing arts, music, and much more.

2 College Sophomore

Campus Resources: The resources are okay the wireless connection is hard to get but the labs are nice.

3 College Sophomore

Academic Experience: I feel they should have more online courses. They have many great outlets for tutoring and getting the help a student may need. They need to have more detailed financial aid information available.

4 College Sophomore

Academic Experience: I have a game plan for my degree. So it is already set what is goning to happen, and Im prepared for it, so to me its easy.

5 College Junior

Tuition & Financial Aid: I am not eligible for financial aid, but I was given free tuition my first year anyways, I just had to sign up for a certain waiver. It doesn't say that they give first years free tuition, but it does anyway.

3 College Junior

Campus Resources: The library is great, it has multiple stories of books, and a sort of indoor/outdoor patio area that's really nice sit in when the weather is good. Students don't live here, but it's still pretty nice to eat at and hang out between classes. There are lots of trees to sit under, and a couple little places to get food or coffee. Tad expensive, but it's really good for on-campus food.

3 College Junior

Student Body: There is a good mix of people who have full-time jobs and families, and people who are just out of high school looking to transfer. A few of these younger students seem no different than when in high school: immature, loud, rude, and not really caring to be there. Most everyone is there to learn though, which is good, but they definitely know how to socialize, make friends, and do things outside of school.

5 Recent Alumnus

Campus Resources: There are a TON of resources available to students. We have a learning resource center that offers tutoring in almost every subject for free, a center for disabled students, great library staff, accessible health center. It's all very accessible and excellent quality.

4 Recent Alumnus

Academic Experience: The ASL teachers are generally very friendly, and students get to know them on a first name basis. It is hard to get into classes at times because the program is so specialized, and there aren't many sessions available. ASL students are required to visit the lab intermittently throughout the semester to watch DVDs or videotape themselves. The workload is expected for learning a foreign language.

4 Recent Alumnus

Academic Experience: American River college is a community college, so most of the courses are GE. The teachers are excellent, and the atmosphere is OK. They offer plenty of prerequisites for most majors. Mine is ASL linguistics, and although they only offer one ASL linguistics course, their general language department is great.

4 College Junior

Online Courses: The online course I took was the only one available in psychology during the summer I wanted to take the course. I enjoyed taking the class because since there was a screen in front of me and not a teacher or the whole classroom I felt more comfortable with opening up and giving as much input as I could. And it helped tremendously that I could take my time to answer questions and write it out before I gave an input.

College Junior

Academic Experience: I haven't started my major requirements yet because I just changed my major.

4 College Junior

Academic Flexibility: Because I had DSPS I had an easier time getting the classes I needed for the next semester and found it more flexible to pick a number of courses before registration date and then to drop whatever I found unnecessary.

4 College Student

Campus Resources: I am pleased with all but the career center which seems to be the exception to the high standards and effective resources on campus. Students are held to a higher standard than other like schools which is in line with upper division university requirements and standards better preparing us for success and an easy transition after transferring

3 College Student

Career Services: The career center seems to have staff that are not as knowledgeable and up to date as other service departments. They do not seem to be as well informed as they should be and generally give us generic answers and resources that are over saturated and do not seem to produce any results. For example I inquired about internship opportunities as well as part time job opportunities twice. both times i was refereed only to a resume writing seminar. not helpful nor did it address my questions or needs

3 College Student

Campus Resources: D2L always has issues. It has consistently been frustrating professors and students alike. there are always issues causing professors to have to delay assignments. This is a big deal and not acceptable especially when you are in an 8 week class. We would all be grateful and more successful if this issue were addressed. Besides it simply should perform as it was designed and it does not. I am reluctant to take any online classes I once had planned to.Computers and printing services are readily available to all students. Wireless access is provided and has been very reliable. I have never experienced any connectivity issues. This is a tremendous resource as some of my courses require me to login online to complete homework assignments. I can do this between classes making better use of my time.

4 College Student

Campus Resources: All resources on campus are strong. Staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. Financial aide office even automatically screens and enrolls when you become eligible for the Cal Grant automatically.

3 College Junior

Academic Experience: The academic experience has been okay, still learning new things everyday.

3 College Junior

Academic Experience: It is a good school with lots of opportunity, but still has some cleaning up to do.
