3 College Junior

Student Body: I have never taken classes on campus. Strictly online classes.

Overall Experience: My experience at APUS is going fairly well. I am taking online courses that I consider very convenient for me. The unique thing about this school is that it is a University composed of two schools that is the American Public University this is for civilian students and the American Military University this is for military personnel and military spouses. I would'nt choose this school again because it is pretty expensive and I can't afford it right now due to the budget cutting of the MYCAA scholarship funding and I exhausted my benefits it is very hard finding and winning additional scholarships.

Academic Flexibility: Very Flexible – The entire curriculum is online. The institute is geared toward the U.S. Service Member and the online student. It is easy to drop classes if a need arises, without incurring a monetary penalty. The institute also ensures success by allowing the student to apply and approve extensions based on current mission sets and the ability of the student to complete assignments.

Academic Experience: Classes Are Challenging and Professors Are Experienced – Intelligence requires both the ability to research and operational experience. AMU/APUS ensures that the professors have both. They provide a perspective that is normally not provided by peers and colleagues within the Intelligence Community.

Student Body: A Wonderful World of Diversity. Though an online school community,The American Public University system is anything but your typical description of an online school. The resources are awesome, teachers are great and the student body is a big stew of all kinds of different backgrounds. You're classmates can be around the world or right next door.

Online Courses: Managing Workload – The best part about taking online courses is the ability to set your own time and pace with getting the work done, but with that comes time management. In order to be successful in an online institution one has to manage their time and their schedule with their professors requirements and deadlines. From experience I have learned that I need to spend a little time everyday towards my school work so that by the end of the week I am not rushing to get the work turned in.

Overall Experience: Satisfied in All Aspects – Because this is an online institution you do not get the entire "college experience" as you would with a campus based school. The reason I chose my school was because of the fact that I am a busy mom who does not have time to drive to school and sit in class. Many online universities have ridiculously high priced tuition costs. The best part about my school is that it is affordable and I can still sleep at night knowing that I will not have a big debt after my graduation. I am very satisfied with my school especially because online classes are convenient with my busy lifestyle.

Overall Experience: Best School – I really love this school. The best online school that out there right now. Easy, fast, and can learned new things with kind and professional professors.

Online Courses: The Difference – It works with my hectic schedule and I can do it on my time and I don't have to get up and drive to a school.

Campus Resources: APUS and AMU rate around 8.5 out of 10 when it came to technical reviews. Why? I don't know, but I think it should have been 10 out of 10! It is an online school, so you know you have to use computers and laptops with certain software and with office to accomplish your assignments and etc... It is on the person to have access to all this, if not then use a library or your work computer and printer.

Online Courses: Online, Yes or No? YES! Online school is great because depending on your status with work, family, or even in the military, they are there for you to learn! It is no joke, it is hard, and challenging, but with APUS and AMU's staff and technology education, you will learn a lot. You interact with students, get to know them and use discussion boards to talk about subjects. Also online quiz and tests are available. Also it is easy to manage with online campus as well as a lounge. Everything can be done online and you can get a great education with the best online school. You have to be dedicated and patient to learn especially if doing online colleges.

Academic Flexibility: Great School – American Public University System and American Military University is a great school to attend if you are a full time worker, have a family, or if you are in the military. They are here for you and want you to succeed in your goal of getting your education and degree. I am in the U.S Marine Corps and I have been attending them for a while now and they were so nice and fast in helping with my transfer credits, paper work, and handling of my financial services. APUS and AMU is highly recommended and I am going to pursue my degree all the way till I get my masters. I love AMU. They are very friendly and are very flexible. It isn't easy, because they believe in teaching and getting their students to learn with today's technology and etc... So if you attend this school, study and pay attention.

Online Courses: Flexible and Convenient – I do not have any complaints at online classes. Most professors want you to finish the assignments and are extremely flexibile in how you complete them.

Academic Flexibility: My only issue with APUS is with one professor. She lagged behind at grading and I overlooked an asteric which said to turn my final paper into two different locations. If she would have graded it in a timely manner, I would have realized it was not turned in. She then did not reply to my emails concerning this issue. I have since appealed my grade and am hopeful to the outcome. Granted, without my final paper, I still received a B+, I consider myself an overachiever and would like the A that I deserve.

Tuition & Financial Aid: Overall I am pleased with APUS but my concerns are with the ease for receiving free money. I know there is money available but I have not been able to find anything besides what my employer offers. I have completed three classes so far and am very dedicated at receiving excellent grades and learning a lot along the way but some assistance would be nice. It seems I am penalized for already having a career and making decent money. I still have bills and college is dipping into any cash I had saved. I wish APUS would give me a little more direction on where to go and how to find this free money. Overall though, I am very pleased with the ease of going to college as a first time student at thirty.

Career Services: APUS makes available a constantly updating list or database of available and new postings both that apply to pre and post graduates. The career services faculty has proven quite useful in answering questions about internships and similar programs both in and out of my particular field of study. While I do not yet know how their services work for the post-grad student, it has already proven quite useful for my pre-grad circumstances.

Tuition & Financial Aid: No Such Thing as a Stupid Question – My experience with the APUS financial aid and tuition process has extremely enjoyable. Through the use of a simple initiating email, the faculty and staff at APUS will walk their students through every step of the process, and even arrange to do as much of it for you as possible. I have experienced individual staff members going out of their way and out of their department to help me. The cost value of my education is, in my opinion, a steal. The price I am paying for my courses is much cheaper than I originally anticipated and the value of the education I am receiving is showing that I can apply it in every aspect of my life, not just in my chosen field of study or career. My biggest tip for anyone interested is to never hesitate to ask any question. They will bend over backwards, so to speak, to help you.

Overall Experience: The Unity of the Student Body – Already I am continually gaining more knowledge and understanding from APUS than I thought I would. One of the big perks to the style of learning and environment applied is that for several of the assigned homework assignments, other students from the class can comment on it. Not just to state their opinion but also to bring to light other resources or bits of knowledge previously unknown to me. On the downside of it though, there does not seem to be an easy way to actively or in live communication, share or speak with your fellow students. Atleast, not through the actual college itself.

4 College Senior

Academic Experience: Homeland Security – I like that there is a Homeland Security Master's Degree. However, I also wanted to focus on Terrorism with my degree and it wasn't allowed because too many classes were the same. I don't see why I am not allowed to get a certificate in something I am studying anyway. The school advised me that I could earn the certificate and then later earn the Master's, and I could have done this. But it is a problem usually when attempting to use scholarships or financial aid to explain the purpose of Certifications.

3 College Senior

Tuition & Financial Aid: I feel their financial aid process is no different than doing paperwork for the government. There is a bit of confusing, and it is tough to get a financial aid rep on the phone. However, they are friendly and always willing to help once you get them on the phone.

5 College Senior

Academic Flexibility: Came With a Degree – I had already obtained a Bachelor's Degree and am currently attempting to earn my Master's Degree.

4 College Senior

Online Courses: Most classes have a lot of reading which is important for students and assingments due within 1 week. Every class here is 8 weeks long so it is very demanding but not difficult as long as we have an schedule and plan our time. Teachers are understanding if you cannot complete your assingments by the deadline, they will work with you.

4 College Senior

Academic Experience: the professors are very qualified and they are actually working in the field they are teaching which makes learing easier and they are right there to help us all the time.

4 College Junior

Career Services: Virtual Career Center Gives Graduates a Leg-Up – While still attending college, I have used the virtual career center to find contract work and internships, providing me with an extensive resources list for job leads once I graduate.

4 College Junior

Campus Resources: Online Resources Better Than Some Campuses – Online facilities rival the facilities and resources offered at many campus facilities. From extensive databases to track credit transfers from other educational institutions, to an extensive online library for research, the facilities are a class-act.
