Tuition & Financial Aid: Hurry It up! First of all, you can't rush the state so you have to be sure to get everything on your end done ahead of time. As for me I had my financial aid done this past Feburary. APU has sent me e-mails keeping me updated on my financial aid and what I need to do.

Overall Experience: Great Choice! I have been doing a lot of online research for colleges and I have been very disappointed. That all changed when I discovered American Public University, they didn't keep calling me repeatedly while I was at work or busy like some college did. My advisor and everyone I have had the opportunity to talk with have been helpful and make sure I have everything done correctly, and on time.

Academic Experience: Courses Not up to Par With Typical Universities – having previously attended University, I find that the primary problem with attending an online university is that too much of the work can be gaffed off while one is still able to pass a majority of the assignments and tests. Lectures in class are typically only one page, if that, and a majority of what is expected to be learned is deferred to the text assigned. If professors at a normal university were to defer the same amount of their lessons to the assigned text, they would have a huge amount of students drop their classes.

Career Services: Great Post-Grad Services – Nothing bad to say, so far the post-grad services have been fabulous and I haven't even graduated yet ( I graduate in 4 months). :)

Academic Flexibility: Nothing Transferred, but Otherwise Love the School – I had taken ground campus classes, which didn't transfer into APUS. Otherwise, everything to do with the degree plan at APUS is amazing. The teachers are fabulous and have the understanding needed to help educate military spouses as there are times we need more flexible deadlines within out educational attainment. The convenience of being able to set your own schedule and having understanding professors far outweighs taking a few classes over again. :)

Tuition & Financial Aid: About Average – The tuition doesn't always feel like a fair price for what I'm getting, but just like any other school, some classes and professors are better than others. Financial aid at APU is a bit of a hassle and is much easier at some other schools.

Student Body: Hard to Tell – As my school is entirely online, it's a bit difficult to judge the student population. However, based on the introductions and such given at the beginning of classes, the student body seems to be very much alike. It is almost entirely made up of active US military members.

Academic Flexibility: Last Minute? Yes. During my current deployment there were times when I was unable to submit work due to the lack or no internet capability to do my work. I would let them know in advance and they would extend me with the time I asked for which was no more than a week long.

Overall Experience: Reliable, Dedicated, and Flexible – In choosing a college I needed a college program and school that was flexible with military personal and our deployments. It didn't take long before finding American Military University. Some of the professors are or were in the military and understand the difficulties with completing assignments and meeting deadlines. There was no question after speaking with admissions why I should choose this school.

Campus Resources: Campus Library – Campus library has extensive resources..if I can learn how to use them more efficiently

Academic Experience: Good School to Attend – I enjoy my academic time at American Military University. The staff is helpful, the classes can be interesting, and it's always fun to meet your fellow classmates..some are hilarious.

Academic Flexibility: Ease of Transferring Credits – I had no problems transferring most of my college credits and those acquired through the Air Force technical school training.

Campus Resources: Interesting Set up – They have all the materials that you need online in the library, However accessing them is extremely confusing. You must log-in to the database then search for a topic. There is little to no organization to the database and I refuse to use it.

Online Courses: Lots of Writing – Every class is discussion post and many of them. It's almost all you'll be doing for the entire time you are in that class. Its time consuming but worth it. It helps you understand the material because you are forced to research the topic and provide a logical discussion on it.

Tuition & Financial Aid: Keep Calling – You have to call them to really get a suitable answer on your finances. The email system takes days to get back to you, and it's always a different person. You may have to call more than once as well. The process is harder than it should be. Once everything is settled for one semester, the same thing happens again.

Academic Experience: I am currently attending American Military University at APUS. I have had nothing but a positive experience with this school. Everything is accomplished online, but I appreciate and prefer that. I am a busy mother in the military, and neither want nor need extraneous relationships in the classroom. The instructors have always been courteous, kind, passionate and knowledgable in their respective fields. That attitude is contagious and carries over into each lesson.

5 College Sophomore

Academic Experience: The school system that works for the student. Managing time and proper planning will allow the student to acheive any workload and professors generally help with questions on assignment and tests as well as encouraging communication if an emergency has occured and an extention of some sort is needed.

5 College Sophomore

Online Courses: All of the Above – Workload is manageable through time management. Peer-to-oeer interaction is amazing with the way the online classroom is set up, registration is seemingly painless, professors are generally easy to get ahold of and are willing to work with the student.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Resources: Multitudinous Resources – There is a resource for every problem! Just has occasional maintenance problems.

Academic Experience: I have been attending AMU for a little over two years now, and it has been great!

Career Services: Great Advisors – The advisors at AMU are great! They always try and answer all of your questions

Campus Resources: Website Issues – Sometimes during scheduled maintenance, the class rooms are hard to get into.

3 College Junior

Campus Resources: Network Is Not Reliable – I have found that the school network is constantly having problems. I have learned to do my assignments at the beginning of the week, so I can avoid the stresses of not getting my assignments done due to an outage. It is helpful that the teachers and staff are understandable with the network problems and will work with you as long as you keep in touch with them.

Academic Flexibility: Not All Credits Transferred – I chose this school because of how flexible the class schedules are and liked that it was military affliated. The only downside is I have had to work my way back up to how many credits I had at my community college before attending this school, but the convenience is a plus!

4 College Junior

Student Body: Accepting of Others – Overall, my school consists of people working full-time jobs and/or families while attending classes. It seems as though everyone understands what their fellow student is going through in regards to juggling a busy schedule, and it shows in their forum responses.
