Online Courses: Professor Kelso is AWESOME for COLL 100! Great Interactions

College Student

Student Body: As stated previously, I am on-line.

Facilities: The affordability and online convenience.

Academic Experience: As I am a new student, I have yet to start my core classes. Thus unable, at this point in time to give an informed correct opinion.

Academic Experience: The ease of enrollment is so effortless, that any person could perform this task. I also appreciate that APUS has created the COLL 100 class which will give guidance to new and returning students to the college setting. Although you do have the option to choose another class, (if you show prior online learning experience), I would advise that all students entering take this class. This COLL 100 course will navigate the student, and give the guidance to the APUS system set-up.

Overall Experience: APUS is an easy transition for adults to go back to school online. They offer simple and advanced courses that are challenging and informative even though most of everything is tied to an online university. They offer free e-books and give discounts if you wish to purchase books.

Student Body: APUS is an online program, so the interaction between students is strictly online in forums, web discussions, and chat applications. Overall, a great system for online learners.

Tuition & Financial Aid: For military members, APUS matches your Tuition Assistance which is great! If you do have to pay out of pocket, they are more than willing to introduce you to financial aid services and FAFSA.

Online Courses: APUS online programs are easy and seamless. If you can work a personal computer, you can complete the course work for each class. Most of the software required is provided and tech support is always willing to help 24/7.

Academic Flexibility: How much more flexibility do you need than a 100 percent online course? With classes starting every few weeks, students can always find classes that can work with their schedule and if its too much to handle, students can cancel classes within the first week for no penalties.

Career Services: The Student Services at APUS is top notch. They are willing to help adult learners from application to graduation, working with you with service fees, course costs, and free books. I can email them or call them whenever I have a question, and they usually have the answer immediately. If they don't, they are prompt with finding me answers and responding via email or phone calls.

Overall Experience: The classes are smooth and easy to follow.

Academic Experience: I think the degrees students want to take are really diverse in class options therefore students can take the topics they feel interest them more. The workload I think depends on what degree you take however I think majority are fair in the workload given. The school is constantly talking about internship and job opportunities, sending emails and announcements online for the latest job fairs.

3 College Sophomore

Academic Experience: Like most schools I have had some professors can lay an unbelievable amount of work onto someone, expecting students to do all the work and also stay very active in their course while the professor isn't very active or responsive to questions. However, their are also some very good experiences with professors who cared about their students, were always helpful and even if the workload was heavy they gave the freedom of a student choosing their own work path. I think the school is very mixed in that sense, with both professors who worked hard and those who didn't. A plus to the university is that they are always asking students to review the teachers so the students are at least heard in some ways.

Tuition & Financial Aid: The financial aid office in my view isn't the most easy to get around to help on questions and options. I think overall it helps in getting the general financial aid forms from the government but does not help provide other options for students to access. I do feel like that courses are far more expensive then the previous state college I attended however I am not sure if it just costs more to run or not, it does make it more difficult to pay for. I do think that the financial aid I have been given in the past has been very helpful in gaining a good degree from this university. I think the school could do a better job in helping students find those other options for financial aid however.

Student Body: I think the university is very diverse, I think it has the advantage of many military students therefore people from all walks of life attend the school. I have met stay at home moms going back to finish their degree, soldiers currently deployed, retirees, young people attending while working full time and much more. One great thing about online school is that ethnicity, religion, political beliefs and gender isn't always so obvious therefore everyone is treated equally. I think the diversity of the school gives a wide variety of views to classes.
