4 College Freshman

Student Body: No student body is ever perfect. There will always be the mean kids, the entitled kids, the kids who think they are better than you, etc. However, I think the majority of the student body is extremely supportive of each other.

Academic Experience: I LOVE my major, but I also get to hang out with and talk to other majors as well. One thing I enjoy about my class is that it's small and you pretty much have every class together.

Even after they graduate, they can come back and use the library to find and materials they may need, as well as work with accompanists at any time. Academic Experience: I am enrolled in the two year conservatory program, Integrated Arts: Acting, Musical Theatre and Dance. It is a demanding and rigorous program. Staff are professional in the field and push you to exceed you own expectations. The program prepares students for a career in stage and screen.

Facilities: It's in Manhattan, Broadway, Times Square, Lincoln Center, the West Village, museums, Central Park, theaters, for a musical theatre student it is perfect. The school buildings have state of the arts performance venues, spacious rehearsal rooms and a great performing arts library.

Academic Flexibility: My program requires I attend the designated curriculum. There are four semesters to my program with set coursework. I find that the set program is comprehensive and demands that I attend every class. Integrating the disciplines of dance, music and acting in a conservatory setting requires the coursework to be focused. The program coursework is cumulative and one must stay on track. They are supportive if a student is unable to complete classes to be able to return to where they left off.

Overall Experience: It is very demanding and I am pushed to excel. I am being taught to push though my fear and pain to exceed my own expectations. The environment is electric! My teachers and peers are talented and incredibly supportive. Being able to participate in the theatre scene in NYC is exhilarating.

Career Services: The school offers excellent auditioning skills. They have a career center for students. The center offers alumni career planning and job placement for non-performance positions in entertainment. Internships are also available.

Tuition & Financial Aid: The financial aid department works diligently with the student and their family to obtain the financial backing to attend AMDA. It is expensive to attend but worth it. I have been fortunate and have received several grants and scholarships directly from AMDA. Make sure you submit your FASFA as soon as possible and seek out scholarships and grants at every opportunity.
