Academic Flexibility: The convenience of Amarillo college as far as my experience has gone has been really convenient. For me it's close to home and all professors are all understanding of life and the things that can happens. They give you chances to make up assignments if you have emergencies that come up so that you have same advantages as other students. Classes are always flexible in class or web based is offered for almost all classes. Transferring credits are easy.

Overall Experience: My school is unique in the fact that all facility here on campus are dedicated to ensuring success of every single student. I love my school and a bit scared to change to a university but know that I have been given the proper tools from Amarillo college to survive. I would most definitely choose my school again if I was given a choice, I feel like it's my second home here and I have really met a lot of great friends that I will have for many years to come.

Tuition & Financial Aid: Tuition at Amarillo college is very easy to apply for. If there are any issues the financial aid department is always willing to help and very nice. Books can be a bit expensive and some times they wont re-buy certain one but it's easy to sell them on the web. The tuition that I pay to attend school is a great deal. I actually feel sometime that I they aren't charging enough because of the education I receive is really high quality and better then a lot I have talked to. My advice for getting financial aid is the meet with financial aid and they will set you in the right direction to completing it. Have last years taxes available. Most of all complete that application online first. WWW.FAFSA.GOV.

Academic Experience: Th specific major that I desire is my BSN (Bachelors in nursing). Amarillo college offers an ASN ( associate in nursing). I thought about attending my current colleges program but I have been here two years already working on my per-nursing studies and I feel it would be pointless to spend another two years at a community college to get and associates versus two more years at a university and obtain my bachelors. Amarillo Colleges nursing program is rated number ten in the U.S. for junior colleges. Their first time state board pass rate it at a 92%. Its a great program very competitive. facilities are very up to date and students are very prepared to enter the workforce and a nurse after completing this program.

Academic Experience: Academics at Amarillo College is very important to professors. The curriculum is "C" or better is passing, below a "C" is not passing. Class registration process is pretty simple. You meet with and adviser they ask you your academic plan talk about your course load and future plans and then if they are comfortable with where you are heading you get what they call "Green Lighted" meaning you can register. As far as study options there are several different study labs in campus equipped with student tutors to help in a wide range of subjects. There are also several clubs on campus that get involved helping the students as well. There are very neat programs here a few being, Veterinarian tech, Forensic science, mortuary science, nursing, engineering etc.

Career Services: Being a transfer student can be scarey, but not at Amarillo College. The advisers here will sit down with for as long as it takes. They print out the prerequisites for the college you desire and lay out your academic plan that will successfully transfer. There are several advisers that are willing and ready to help you at any time. The career center has a job searching network that students can use, the also have resume and interview workshops for all students to utilize. This really helps ensure the success of all who utilize it.

Facilities: Amarillo College is a great college for all ages and genders. Recently, they have started a new program on campus called "No Excuses". This program is geared toward taking away all the excuses that students or prospective students might have or use when questioned about attending college. Amarillo College has career services to help with jobs, Food pantry for students located in capmus, help with finding childcare and housing services. Our campus has at least three days a week where different clubs are offering free lunch to students. They have updated the campus so there are better study stations,Charging stations for cell phones, more computers and lap top check out program. Amarillo College really cares about ensuring present and future students success. I am currently a single mother and full time student and I believe if it wasn't for Amarillo College I might have given up a long the way, but thankfully to all the great professors encouragement and resources I am one semester away from transferring to a university to work towards my bachelors in nursing.
