3 College Freshman

Academic Flexibility: I chose this school because of the reasonable cost of tuition, the welcoming atmosphere, the flexible schedule, and the teachers. I checked out a lot of Universities, but none of them compare to Amarillo College. They are real good with working with you on class schedules, one on one help, financial aid situations, and extra curricular activities.

Campus Resources: The campus have amazing events such as blood drives, fund raisers and theater arts activities. Its great to get out of class and take a break to see or participate in an event.

Online Courses: Im easily distracted at my home, however taking online course and heading to a coffee shop eases up my mind. My professor is an outstanding teacher and I can easily digest the lessons of the day. I can work with online or on class lessons.

Campus Resources: The facilities on campus aren't bad. There's a gym and and auditorium that is fairly new. It is very comfortable with alot of places to hang out in between classes. This is great considering nobody actually lives on campus.

Campus Resources: Computer labs are small and sometimes they get full. Printing on campus is a little complicated, network is fair.

Campus Resources: The library has every book you could ever possibly think of reading, the bookstore always has a fresh stock of books needed for courses, and the exercise, and gym areas are neat, and well kept, as well as fun.

Academic Flexibility: My teachers are very flexible with their course schedules. For instance, I was going out of town to see family, and instead of giving me a 0 on one of my tests, my professor allowed me to take it before I left.

Online Courses: I am not able to give a grade to the online courses due to the fact that i am not enrolled in any online courses currently.

Tuition & Financial Aid: I feel that, not only is AC one of the best community colleges in the entire nation, it is also one of the most reasonably priced. Classes are inexpensive, and you get your money's worth.

Academic Experience: Amarillo College is a great Community College. Although I wish that there were more personal connections made between students and professors. This is a small school, so I think that is possible. I have seen great effort with some of my Professors and I really appreciate that. I wish that the school had more things to be involved in. I realize that this is not a University, but we could still have more events, clubs, organizations, and ect. I think that overall the school is doing its purpose, educate the students minds, and for that I thank them.

Online Courses: There is much variation. Some of the classes are very well laid out and easy to follow. The Calendar is clear and simple, everything is due on the same day, once per week, the gradebook is very straightforward, and instructors are quick to reply to emails.
Other classes show little organization and are very difficult to follow. Instructors rarely get back in time and have little participation besides giving quizzes and prescribing readings. There is little communication between students and gradebooks are rarely updated. Calendars have separate items due several times per week and they are difficult to find.

It really depends on the instructor and the work they put into maintaining the class.

Academic Experience: Most of my classes have been very enjoyable. Although difficult, they are not impossible. The instructors are open to questions and always willing to help or to point you to the tutoring services. I have not experienced many, but I have worked next door to the English Department tutoring service and can attest to their excellence. Registration is very packed and it is easy to miss your classes if you do not stay on top, but the advisors are VERY helpful and like to be on a first-name-basis with their students. There are many clubs and organizations on campus. One for almost every major, nearly every religious organization, honors societies, and even a new club called Finishers, which was specifically created for students to gather and show support and encouragement for one another.

Tuition & Financial Aid: Even the "out-of-state" tuition is less expensive than most other schools I have researched. An average, on-campus, four-class semester for in-state and in-district is usually under $1500 including books and tuition. Financial aid is usually quite helpful and willing to answer questions. They are also very good about staying on top of students who need to turn in more paperwork or they aid is being hindered somehow. One semester my tax returns were not matching up and it would have prevented me from receiving my Pell Grant. My financial advisor emailed and called me until she reached me and had me come to her office straight away to fix the problem.

Academic Experience: I am an English major and I absolutely love my degree plan and my department. I worked in the English Department for several semesters and got to watch all of the instructors in action. They are (for the most part) all kind, caring, and encouraging. They enjoy teaching and love being asked for help. I was often in and out of instructors' offices and rarely saw one whose door wasn't open and who didn't have a student with them. The classes are quite varied and very interesting. The instructors attempt to make the book load as inexpensive as possible by finding the literature online or requiring less expensive versions. Overall, being an English major at Amarillo College is very satisfying. If they offered anything higher than an Associates, I wouldn't be transferring at all.

4 College Senior

Academic Flexibility: The offer classes at everytime of day. They also have night classes for working people.

4 College Senior

Academic Experience: I'm a general studies major so I just did all of my basic classes that I would be expecting like English and History and things like that so it wasn't anything too fancy or unexpected. It seemed just right for general studies.

5 College Senior

Campus Resources: For a community college AC has a lot of various computers/printers/learning resources for the students. It offers free wifi which is a major plus and it's not a bad connection either like most free wifi's. There are various tutoring centers all around the campus with great tutors that really help with challenging classes.
