Online Courses: I love that even though online courses are obviously not face-to-face classes with the instructor/other students, but at ACC our instructors require every student to introduce themselves to the class, and even interact through weekly discussions. My previous instructors would always reply to me very promptly -- within 24 hours with whatever question I had!

Career Services: ACC's College and Career services office staff is truly awesome! They meet with you one on one and even post job openings on the ACC website.

Academic Flexibility: My teachers have set office hours, but they will work around the student's schedule if need be. SO grateful for that!!

Tuition & Financial Aid: Everyone in the Student Admission's Office is so helpful, and they truly care about helping each and every student. I do believe I am getting a great education at Alvin Community College.

Online Courses: In my opinion online classes are only for special circumstances. For example, a student has a hectic work schedule, a student lives to far away from the college to get to class or in my case decides to take classes that are challenging for them by themselves to give focus to that one subject alone. Other wise, I am not in support of online classes. They give you little or no interaction with your professors or your fellow students, which I find to be an important aspect to success in college.

Student Body: Alvin college has a large diversity of students from ages 16-50's. Straight out of high school students all the way to back to school parent students. This diversity provides for a look into many sides of life that helps students grow as people in general.

Academic Flexibility: The college offers classes from 8am-10pm at night 5 days a week, so as long as a student registers early, they should not have trouble finding availability for their schedule.

Career Services: Alvin college has many students that plan to transfer when they finish with their basic studies at the college. Alvin's faculty understand that this is the plan for many students and they provide them with the tools to make that transition. For example, they get students in contact with academic advisors to the students intended school of transfer. In addition, they has a knowledgeable career service department to help students that are planning to go straight into the job market and need help building a professional resume.

Tuition & Financial Aid: Alvin college offers an adequate for a low-reasonable price. Alvin college has been in the top 10% of community college in the United States for the last two years in a row. With that being said, they off this caliber education at about $1600 a semester for full-time.

Academic Experience: Psychology is not giving any grants, so working within a student raised money budget can limit the amounts of activities we can participate in.

Academic Experience: The education is challenging at times but most the professors and administration are willing to guide a student through to success.

Campus Resources: Alvin college has all the resources a student needs if they seek them out. If a person is looking to improve their body Alvin College has a fully stocked gym that is included in cost of admission. However, if a person is looking to improve their mind and GPA, Alvin college has an efficient student center that offers free tutoring for most subjects. Another under-rated resource at the college is the abundant amount of campus activities that the student center puts on.

Academic Experience: The workload is reasonable. I take 15 hours and have time to also work a 30 hour week. The professors work with me to make sure I am keeping up and pay attention to future events.

Academic Flexibility: The class schedule is convenient for practically everyone. I work 30 hr weeks and have time for the required studying.

Academic Experience: The teachers are hands on and respect each student and the effort they put towards the class

Student Body: Alvin Community College has many different kinds of people. The people that catch my eye are the amount of disability students that come to this college. Alvin has worked really well with accepting and helping these particular students. I feel that they are greatly accepted but yet, they still are treated equally.

Academic Flexibility: At Alvin Community College, the professors are much more flexible with your schedule. The main thing is letting them know ahead of time. I am apart of the softball team and we travel a lot. With traveling comes missing class but, the professors there have learned to really work with us. I really appreciate the type of staff we have at the college. They have really helped me get through most of my classes.

Online Courses: Online courses can be very hard to keep up with because you do your work on your own time. Sometimes that work can be easily forgotten and then the grade would only go down hill from there. In a traditional class, there is always a teacher there to remind a student to get stuff done. Taking an online courses I had to really buckle down and be sure I remembered to get all my assignments done and submitted on time.

Campus Resources: The computer accessibility is superb; CyberLab offers free printing up to 20 pages and library has copier/scanner. Wireless access is available and works great in all buildings!

Academic Experience: I feel like the professors are very in touch with the students. Although not always available due to odd hours, they are always more than willing to help as much as possible. The student life is not as involved due to the goals of the individuals attending, but the activities department does an excellent job of making people of all ages feel welcome. I would absolutely recommend this school to any student: new high school graduates, returning students, or even students who are taking a break from a university. The classes are thorough and very enjoyable.

Online Courses: I love all of my online classes. All of my professors have always been more than accommodating to any situation that has arisen at home. I prefer online classes to the traditional classroom due to the fact I can work at my own pace and being a stay at home mother makes it much easier for me to get my education.

Tuition & Financial Aid: I enjoy receiving my education from Alvin. My education is well worth the money spent. The financial aid process is unbelievably easy and my financial adviser always gets my aid processed quickly no matter if I turn in all of my documents late or early. The best way to ensure financial aid for the upcoming semester is to always have everything you need correct and in by the deadline.

Online Courses: I tried online courses for my Math and Spanish courses, my results were not very good. This is because I figured I'm a tactical learner. I must physically be in the class room to learn. I've learned from my mistake but the good thing about online courses is having a change to save gas not using a car.

Academic Flexibility: It all depends on the grade in the class you're taking; if you have a B or above in a class, the class can transfer but if you have less than a B then the class won't transfer. Just stay on track with the assignments the professor hands out while getting good grades on those assignments and you should have nothing to worry about.
