Alverno is trying new healthier food options, including a variety of vegetarian dishes. The food on campus is far from five-star gourmet, but there are a lot of options for everyone. It is surprising if a student does not like at least one thing the school has to offer. However, there is a lot of complaining about the food.

Many college meal plans are for a certain number of meals per day, whereas at Alverno students have a lump sum of money and can spend it however they want. If they do not spend it by the end of each semester or the end of the school year, the money is kept by Alverno. However, at the end of the semester, students can buy bulk food to take home with them so their money isn't lost.
