Facilities: Small but well-kept – The facilities overall are well-kept, but they are rather small.

3 Niche User

Facilities: The facilitities are pretty nice – The facilities are pretty nice. There are some outdated areas of the school, but the recent remodel really gave the campus a facelift. The grounds are beautiful and serene and the parking garage is SOOOO nice to have.

5 Niche User

Facilities: Recent remodeling – Alverno College has recently been remodeled and it is GORGEOUS.

Facilities: We have had sports for less than ten years and each sport is growing more each year. We have a great new athletic director/basketball coach that is really working hard on turning the entire athletics program around and taking bigger steps forward each day. We have a fairly new gymnasium, and we also have a new softball field and soccer field. Our fitness center is one of the best around. The equipment is in great shape and only a few years old. We are continuing to grow and it is great to be apart of this massive growth.

3 Niche User

Facilities: Well taken care of and staffed well – The facilities are nice. I love our coffee house, the Mug and all other facilities are taken care of and staffed well.

3 Niche User

Facilities: The athletic facilities are up-to-date and well maintained. Facilities for athletes (soccer field and softball diamond) are newer due to a donation. However, general facilities like the locker room and fitness center are also well kept. It can get busy, though as there is not a plethora of equipment.

4 Niche User

Facilities: The computers are up to date- flat screens and the connection is fairly fast. The workout facility is nice, but it is a little small. My favorite place on campus is the Mug, our coffeehouse. Great coffee! Great sofas/couches! Great people! Wonderful atmosphere!

4 Niche User

Computers: The lab is great – The lab is great and the computer rooms next door are usually available. Sometimes they are more crowded, maybe because of a class or time of day, but I really haven't had any problems. If you have a laptop with WiFi connection, you can log onto Alverno's network, which is a nice backup plan.

3 Niche User

Computers: Bring your own computer if you can – YES bring your own computer if you can. The labs are usual full because a lot off students don't have computer access or Internet access. So if you can bring your own desktop or laptop you should.

4 Niche User

Computers: Internet access all over campus – Internet access is just that accessible almost any where. Access to computers can get difficult at times, though. I like to use my laptop around campus when computers are sparse. We have wireless so I can be in the library, commons (dining hall), rotunda, science labs, The Mug (coffee house), or even the computer lab and connect to internet and my H-drive. I had to search the computer support services web page to find out how to add (NOT install) and access this drive from my personal computer but it was worth it!

3 Niche User

Computers: Can be hard to find a free computer – There are many computers on campus, but often they fill up at high traffic times including lunch time and evenings. I would highly recommend bringing your own computer, as it is often hard to find a computer free when you want to type your paper or print something offer. Additionally, having a computer on campus will allow you to complete research faster, as the network on campus often slows down significantly when used a by a lot of people.

3 Niche User

Computers: It's easier if you bring your own computer – If I was living on campus I would definitely bring my own computer or lap top just because sometimes it is nice to work alone or in your room. I did not bring my lap top my freshmen year and it was not horrible, but, there were times every once in awhile when the lab would be full in the dorms and it was either too late, I was too tired, or it was too cold for me to walk over to the computer center which closes at midnight. Once I brought my lap top my sophomore year things were nice because I worked whenever and wherever I wanted and I could save all my work to my flash drive and I would only have to use the computer lab for printing.

3 Niche User

Computers: Don't use the computer labs during the lunch hour – The computer labs are mostly crowded during the lunch hour, so I would suggest that you use your time wisely and figure out what times best fit your schedule.

3 Niche User

Computers: The lab is only open until midnight – Usually the computer labs are only crowded around lunch. Otherwise, computers on campus are pretty available. The lab is only open until midnight, so you may need to bring your own computer if you are a night owl or procrastinator.

3 Niche User

Computers: Bring your own computer – I do recommend bringing your own computer. I brought my own, but it broke and I haven't had a chance to bring it to the technological staff to have it fixed (they do it for free). The computer lab in the dorms is small and gets very crowded. The main building has a large computer lab, but parts of it are used for classes and the section that's always open also crowds up.

3 Niche User

Computers: During lunch the main computer lab is usually crowded – During lunch the main computer lab is usually crowded, but with the library, computer labs, and Mac labs, there should usually be a spot open somewhere. Bringing your own computer would be helpful if you enjoy doing your homework/studying alone.

3 Niche User

Computers: The computer labs can get crowded – There are times throughout the day that the computer labs get crowded. I find that around lunchtime and early afternoon the labs are busy. I have never had any issues with being able to jump on a computer quickly. The nice thing about Alverno is the ability to jump on the wireless network if you bring your own computer. I like to bring my computer, find a nice quiet spot to sit and work on homework.

4 Niche User

Health & Safety: I have NEVER felt unsafe at Alverno. Not by myself, late at night, or any other time. Maybe it's because there aren't boys crawling all over the place or maybe it's because everything is pretty well lit. However, I don't see much of the security team. It seems like they're more preoccupied by other "more serious" potential threats like catching the "smokers" than anything else. You never get a wave or a hello.

4 Niche User

Health & Safety: I feel safe on campus – I feel safe on campus. I lived on campus in the dorms for 2 ½ years and I never feared my safety. We have the option of getting escorts when needed and also we have the blue light phones around campus which is a plus because sometimes it is not easy to grab your cell phone when nervous or scared.

4 Niche User

Health & Safety: I always feel safe on campus – I always feel safe on campus. Even though I feel safe I always take precautions when walking to my car at night or in the parking garage. Security guards are always walking around the campus throughout the day. Security guards are also available to walk you to your car, which I think is a great thing to take advantage of.

5 Niche User

Health & Safety: Security is always willing to help – The large amount of security allows me to feel completely at ease on campus. Campus security is always reachable via phone or radio if I ever have any questions or concerns. Also, phones are placed all around campus in case ever have an emergency or concern. Whether you want an escort to your car because it is dark outside, or you locked your keys in your room, security is always willing to help and will take care of any of your safety concerns.

4 Niche User

Health & Safety: Little oasis in the middle of Milwaukee – Not once have I ever not felt safe on campus at Alverno. It's like this little oasis in the middle of Milwaukee.

4 Niche User

Health & Safety: I feel very safe here – I feel very safe here, security is active and we have a strong system to keep strangers outside the dorms. I took a self-defense class here at Alverno a few semesters ago, so most of my secure feelings stem from knowing that I can defend myself.

4 Niche User

Health & Safety: Security is definitely present and supportive – Security is definitely present and supportive on campus. It's nice to get updates on security alerts during the rare times that there are problems. Things are not swept under the rug.

4 Niche User

Health & Safety: Security is great on campus – Security is great on campus. They are very sociable and visible throughout campus. It is a small campus so most everyone knows how to get a hold of them. There are emergency light/phones in our parking structure and around campus. If security needs to respond to non-emergency situations, they usually won't be very quick, but they are very available in emergency situations, whether it is a personal or medical emergency.
