Guys & Girls: Guys on campus – The guys on campus are typically faculty and staff...occasionally boyfriends of other students (so no comment on the hotness).

3 Niche User

Guys & Girls: No guys in the student body – Well Alverno it is an all girls college so there aren't any guys in the student body. As for the girls well it's diverse so you have your choice no matter your taste.

3 Niche User

Guys & Girls: Considering Alverno is a women's college, the men are few and far between. I haven't had any issues with other students. If I did, it's nothing that cannot be worked out before class or in class.

4 Niche User

Guys & Girls: No guys, but the girls are great – No guys, sorry girls. However, I've made some friends that I will have for the rest of my life. It is amazing. You will meet so many friends and have so much fun.

Niche User

Guys & Girls: We don't have guys here – Are you kidding me? We don't have guys here..lol. WOW

3 Niche User

Guys & Girls: You do have to make a significant effort to pursue relationships with men outside of Alverno. But Marquette, UWM and MSOE are male dominated campuses and a lot of Alverno's social events collaborate with these campuses to create a co-ed atmosphere.

3 Niche User

Guys & Girls: Only females on campus – To be completely honest there are only females on this campus. The only time you will find males are the girls' boyfriends, male friends, dad, grandpa, or brother visiting her. Besides that there may also be a few men who are taking classes here at Alverno for the Master's program. However, the young ladies that attend Alverno are all very respectful, opinionated, and friendly along with being very different from one another.

Guys & Girls: Boys on campus are usually boyfriends – Recently it feels like there are more guys on campus. It's probably just cause there are more students on campus who bring their boyfriends here.

Diversity: One of the best things about Alverno is the diversity on campus. You encounter women of every race, ethnicity and religion. Being able to communicate, express beliefs, and share in a non confrontational environment is unbelievably invigorating and educational. Differences are accepted and looked upon as an opportunity to learn and grow.

3 Niche User

Diversity: Students from other ethnicities are represented – I think even though Alverno does have a sizable Caucasian population, that students from other ethnicities are represented here. There are programs which celebrate different cultures and societies. The more we can learn about each other, the more open minded we can be in the real world.

3 Niche User

Diversity: Campus is pretty diverse – I would have to say that the campus is pretty diverse and if you are open minded as most Alverno students are, you can find ever-lasting friendships with an array of people.

4 Niche User

Diversity: Extremely diverse – Alverno is extremely diverse. Students at Alverno are from all different religious affiliations, cultures and backgrounds. Many students speak more than one language.

4 Niche User

Diversity: Alverno possesses a huge amount of diversity on many different fronts. For example, since Alverno is predominantly a commuter college, there are all different ages of women attending. This large age diversity allows for wonderful discussion in the classroom due to the differing life perspectives.

2 Niche User

Diversity: Racially and sexually, Alverno is diverse. Almost everyone is from the Midwest, almost everyone is either loosely Christian or atheist/agnostic, and almost everyone is Democratic. We do have international students who add more diversity, though.

3 Niche User

Diversity: Alverno is not that diverse, but I have seen people from various nationalities, backgrounds, and cultures on campus.

4 Niche User

Diversity: One of the most diverse populations – Alverno has one of the most diverse populations of the Milwaukee area colleges and universities. We have many different cultures and, even though we are a Catholic college, there are many different religions.

4 Niche User

Diversity: Diversity is the real world and Alverno represents that reality beautifully.

Off-Campus Housing: Nice to have my own space away from school – Living off campus is great because I need my own space away from school. I like being around my friends and family because it gives me an outlet. I could never live on campus because the people you have class with, you live with. you work with.

3 Niche User

Off-Campus Housing: It really depends on your lifestyle – It really depends on your lifestyle. If students are working on campus, living on campus might be more convenient. I work off campus so it gives me time away from school which is super nice.

4 Niche User

Off-Campus Housing: Off campus housing is a good alternative for people who are non-traditional students who have children or have jobs and pre-established lives. The actual expenses are cheaper but the convenience outweighs the cost benefit.

4 Niche User

Off-Campus Housing: Little less convenient, but more independent – I moved off campus after my junior year and it was a little less convenient but has been the right choice for me in many other ways. It has been worth it because I've gotten a chance to be independent.

4 Niche User

Off-Campus Housing: Off-campus apartments are close – Alverno doesn't have any off campus housing that they contract with or own, though across the street from the Nursing building there are some apartments called the Alverno Pool Apartments. There are a number of apartments in the vicinity though, and quite a few along Oklahoma Ave and other nearby main streets, which is nice in terms of public transportation [the bus] because there's a bus that runs either right by or at most a block or 2 from Alverno.

4 Niche User

Off-Campus Housing: I love living off-campus! I love living in my duplex off campus! Living on campus, I felt confined to my room and now that I live off campus, I actually look forward to coming to school everyday. I did live on campus for three years and it makes me appreciate having more of my own space now.

4 Niche User

Off-Campus Housing: A lot cheaper to live off-campus – It is a lot cheaper living off campus. Students should always make sure they are ready to commit to the responsibilities that come with living off campus. It is also a great experience and it helps with transitioning into the adult world.

3 Niche User

Off-Campus Housing: Mixed feelings about living off-campus – Because Alverno is in a residential area, many apartment buildings are nearby. I'm a senior and, because I want to be in Chicago whenever I'm not in school, I have not investigated housing off campus. I do have many friends who have moved off campus and they have mixed feelings as to whether or not it's worth it.

Most students who have made it through the majority of their years at Alverno say that they cannot imagine being anywhere else. In fact, many students who leave Alverno to go to other schools because of finances or because they didn't think Alverno was a good fit, often come back. Alverno is not just a school—it's a place that teaches women to think outside of the box and to understand themselves. It becomes a home for many people. Alverno graduates go on to become important women in their workplaces, communities, churches, and homes. The College offers students a unique opportunity to take a really good look at themselves and say, "Who am I?" and "Is this who I really want to be?"

Most people say that going to college is an investment in your future, but coming to Alverno is an investment in not only your future, but also your community's future.
