Diversity: There is a wide variety of ethnic diversity and sexual orientation. Its an all girl school. Very accepting. Lots of clubs for a variety of ethnic origins.

Campus Dining: The Food is terrible and overpriced. You get a discount for having a mealplan and using your ID card for purchase, but for those who dont live on campus without a mealplan, its expensive.

Overall Experience: I was delightfully surprised – Even though I had no idea what Alverno was about when I initially came here (ability-based grading system, no boys) I was delightfully surprised. Alverno has helped me become a well-rounded citizen who looks at the world, as well as themselves, in a reflective light instead of judging what everyone does.

Overall Experience: I love Alverno. The teachers/staff/faculty are very inviting and down to earth. The classes are challenging, but nothing that you cannot pass if you set your mind to it! I cannot say that I would want to be anywhere else because each place offers something new and different to experience. I do enjoy being at Alverno and I am glad I made the decision to come here.

Overall Experience: Annoying rules, great friends, small classes – I'm not gonna lie, there are times when all I can think is 'why the heck did I ever pick Alverno??!!' In either my experience or the experiences of close friends, they [Alverno] often have tendencies to not publicize certain rules/regulations very clearly, if at all, which really makes you hate them when these rules are applied to yourself and you didn't even know they existed! However, in the long run, I've made some amazing friends here and I still love the small class sizes and I like the majority of my teachers. It's a very open and interactive environment, which is amazing.

Overall Experience: Small classes and unique grading system are great – Alverno's alternative ability based curriculum and small classes were the reason I chose to attend school here, and the kind professors and challenging education are the reasons I stay. I am so glad I chose to live on campus as the convenience of living five minutes away from class is unbeatable, and the programs hosted and friends met here are absolutely phenomenal. I look forward to another wonderfully challenging semester full of public speaking and self-assessments.

Overall Experience: Choosing Alverno College was one of the best choices I've made. I know that when I graduate in May, 2009, I will be prepared to interview for jobs and make a strong first impression on employers. Alverno has helped me to grow into a strong, independent woman.

Overall Experience: Unforgettable experience – I love Alverno and I am glad that I made the choice to overcome my boy crazy mind. Going to school here you never really realize there are not guys in your classes and that for the most part the only males you see are the faculty and staff. It is a great school and the personal relationships that you gain with your instructors are amazing because you get the help you need and you are more than just a number. Our campus is really nice and home like and it just makes you feel comfortable. The grading system is really nice because you get to show what you know in many ways and you are not just simply taking in information and spitting it back out through multiple choice tests. It is an experience that is unforgettable and I honestly would not trade it for any other college life.

Overall Experience: I have really enjoyed my years at Alverno. Now that graduation is approaching, I am reflecting more on where I started and where I am today. Alverno has really helped me understand who I am and what's important to me. I feel that if I would have attended a bigger university I would not have had the opportunity to explore some of my interests to the extent that I have here at Alverno.

Overall Experience: I actually transferred out after my second year at Alverno and I really hated the school I was attending. I didn't realize how good of a school Alverno was until I left. NOW IM BACK!! And I love it.

Overall Experience: I can't imagine going anywhere else and being as content – I can't imagine going anywhere else and being as content. Sometimes I wish it was more exciting or busier, but that would interfere with my schoolwork. The gripes I have about Alverno I would have almost anywhere else, such at not trusting anything the Financial Aid office tells me.

4 Niche User

Overall Experience: My first professor here told me that those that come to Alverno seem to fall into it when it's right for them. As a transfer student I couldn't find that statement more fitting. I have a greater sense of confidence about my abilities as a student in the classroom than I ever found at the universities I attended previously. I have a greater sense of who I am, where I want to go, how I am going to get there and through it all I know that Alverno is preparing me to be successful in my life after school here. Alverno has helped me to see that I have always had the abilities to be successful, but my time here has shown me the ways in which I can use those abilities as best as possible. If Alverno had a law school I would apply. I only wish I had found Alverno right out of high school.

Weather: Different seasons mean different activities – I get really sick of winter after the first couple of months. Cause there are so many different seasons there are a lot of different activities to do all year round!

2 Niche User

Weather: It sucks! It's too cold. It sucks! It's too cold. Although we are pretty lucky that we don't get tornados or hurricanes! I almost went to college in Florida so I would prefer to be warmer..

3 Niche User

Weather: The weather varies from day to day and month to month. In the fall, it can be 40 degrees one day and 70 degrees the next. In the spring, it can be 5 degrees one week and 50 the next. So as far as clothing is concerned, I would suggest bringing a little bit of everything. By everything, I mean sweatshirts to tank tops and long pants to shorts. I discovered dressing in layers is always a good idea. It is easier to take clothes on and off than it is to raise or lower your body temperature. The weather varies so much and is so unpredictable, bringing some of everything is something I would highly recommend.

3 Niche User

Weather: The winter in Wisconsin is entirely too long – The winter in Wisconsin is entirely too long! Any students who are coming from other states should be sure to bundle up!

3 Niche User

Weather: You'll need everything from shorts to sweaters – The winter weather is a problem because people don't know how to drive in snow. The rest of the year it's beautiful and sunny. Students who are not going home during the semester should bring everything from shorts to sweaters!

2 Niche User

Weather: The weather here is unpredictable and it's never too hot or too cold for very long! Although, I don't like living in Milwaukee because I can't snow mobile and do all the outdoors stuff I normally do in the winter.

3 Niche User

Weather: Everything is connected on campus through tunnels – Living in the dorms makes weather a lot easier to brave! Luckily, everything is connected on campus through tunnels! Wisconsin is definitely a four season state.

4 Niche User

Weather: I love Wisconsin weather! I love snowmobiling and sledding. As long as there is something to do outside, I am happy.

3 Niche User

Weather: Extremes in all seasons – We experience extremes in all seasons. The arctic winter weather will cut you to the bone. Even Wisconsin veterans bless the inventions of thermal and lip balm. Boots, gloves, and a scarf are must haves. In summer, less is more. Dorm rooms are without AC and your sweating profusely will quickly melt away your freshman 15.

3 Niche User

Transportation: We should have a free bus pass – I think we should have a pass to get free busing in Milwaukee like other colleges around the area have. That would be helpful, even though I have a car.

4 Niche User

Transportation: Mega Bus – I take the Mega Bus to Chicago to go home all the time. It is super easy to get to and it's pretty cheap for the weekend. I just take a regular bus downtown to the bus station!

3 Niche User

Transportation: Riding the bus is definitely a hassle – Because Milwaukee is so spread out, riding the bus is definitely a hassle. Living in Bay View makes taking the bus to Alverno pretty easy- otherwise a bus ride could take up more time than it is worth.

3 Niche User

Transportation: Bus fare has gone up considerably – I haven't ridden the bus in a long time but I hear the bus fare has gone up considerably. When I rode the bus, there were a lot of students who were going to high school that rode the bus everyday.
