Athletics: Something You Don't Find Often – It includes a fitness center free of charge for students.

4 College Freshman

Diversity: Small class sizes make it hard for acceptance because of openings.

5 College Senior

Transportation: Park It! Parking is free. There is a bus line 3 blocks from campus and bus fair is cheap. Gas is a little bit above average but again parking is free and easy to find as well as near class and dorms.

Nightlife: A Life Away from Campus – The night life near campus is not too exciting, you live near 27th st which has many stores and dining places as well as coffee shops and fast food. The bad part of this is most of these things close by 10 or 11. If you are 21 there are so many things to do in the city about 15-20 minuets away from campus just not near by. If you are under 21 there are plenty of things to do near and not near campus; movie theater, bowling, coffee shops, stores, hookah bars, arcades, gyms, etc. Overall if you are will to travel a bit then you will always find something to do in the city.

5 College Freshman

Majors: Easy, Relaxed – The process for applying was simple. I don't remember if we had to do an essay and if we did, it was relatively easy. They also didn't make me answer questions that didn't matter and were irrelevant.

5 College Freshman

Academics: Reliable, Interactive,Convenient – The people who work around campus are all very willing to help out everyone whenever they can. There aren't many lines so i never have to wait to talk to my adviser.

4 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: Enjoyable, Nice, Comfortable – The people here are all mostly enjoyable. There can be a lot of interaction and activities for citizens around the area.

4 College Sophomore

Majors: Large Variety – There is a lot of programs at Alverno college over 50 majors and minors. I enjoy it, because it gives me a lot of options. The workload is acceptable and there is plenty jobs opportunity available.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: I attended Alverno college unaware of their whole curriculum. Their whole curriculum is based off what employers thought that made good employees. The registration process is quite simply. You can get a huge workload and the popular study area is NURSING.

5 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: Not to far from Alverno, there is a strip mall. Not to far from the strip mall is Kohl's department store. There is a lot of fast food restaurants. Everyone is quite respectful and open to the local college students.

Overall Experience: The campus is small and easy to get around. The people are very friendly. You are on a first-name basis with your professors. TThe environment is very comforting and a great place to study.

4 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: I believe that the women at alverno are more mature than high school kids. They They are not preppy and stuck up like they may have been. They are very friendly and want to make new friends.

4 College Freshman

Diversity: Like my high school, Alverno is extreamly diverse. There were people from different countries, there were colored people, people of different religions. The only thing I'm not positive about is the sexual orientation.

5 College Freshman

Academics: Excellence at Work – Alverno has a unique learning environment focused solely on the growth and demonstrated abilities of each student. Excluding the use of TA's and online courses encourages full participation on the part of the student and instructor.

College Student

Computers: Computer Labs – One thing I do know from a tour was that Alverno has it's own computer lab for the Nursing program that is accesable at all times only by the Nursing students.

Academics: As I attended an Open House at Alverno, I was able to get a clear understanding of their assessment-based curriculum. Unlike other schools were you get graded by a letter, Alverno students are regularly asked to demostrate their knowledge and skill level throughout their coursework at the college. Alverno's unique curriculum consists of eight core abilities that every student must master in order to graduate. These abilities are communication, analysis, problem solving, valuing, social interaction, developing a global perspective, effective citizenship, and aesthetic engagement. These abilities ensures that you'll learn more in class and retain knowledge longer. Alverno's unique curriculum is a learning that lasts a lifetime!

Diversity: Very Diverse – Alverno is extremely diverse. It really is an entire community in one little campus. There are many student organizations dedicated to different cultures. There is also a student group for women of all religions to come together and learn about the different religions. Alverno has an excellent exchange program as well so there are always students from other countries cultures.

Overall Experience: The experience I had at this school was life changing. The faculty truly cared about my success. I made friendships that will last a lifetime with both students and staff. What this school lacks in size it makes up for in resources such as off-campus research opportunities and an excellent internship program. It is also very family-friendly and has an excellent daycare facility. I highly recommend considering this school for all women!

Scholarships: The scholarship opportunities are endless! I received every single scholarship I applied for. Since it is a small school, the faculty and staff know the students and will approach you if they know of a scholarship that would apply to you. We are also given the opportunity to thank our scholarship donors once a year at a special dinner, which is always a fun time.

Parking: There is plenty of parking on campus. This includes several lots, a brand new parking structure, and street parking. Parking checkers are not a problem here and street parking is totally safe and free.

4 College Senior

Off-Campus Dining: Bayview Area Is Close – The closest things to campus are some chain restaurants and fast food places. A quick drive, bike ride, or bus ride away is the city of Bayview which has many more options. My favorites are Honeypie and Pastiche. Milwaukee is really getting into the local slow food movement so the ingredients are always fresh and delicious!

Campus Strictness: I'm starting this fall semester, so there is not much I can say. I have heard that security is always around and partying is not something the girls at the campus are known for doing. I guess I will have to find out as soon as I start!

4 College Student

Diversity: Only Women – This is an all women school, and for which most are white. It's a private Catholic College, but I knew that before applying. I wasn't looking at those factors when I applied. I was more interested in my career of choice, and Alverno offered exactly what I needed.
Its process in accepting a student is fairly quick. They stay in contact with you as soon as you apply and they are very helpful throughout the admission process.

Campus Housing: I Do Not Live on Campus – Although i do not live on campus, I did take a tour a few weeks ago. The dorms aren't very modern, the school itself is very old. What I did like about the dorms, is that they are very close to the school. Everything is so close together making it convenient to get to and from school fairly quick.

4 College Junior

Weather: everytime when we have a big storm coming the school lets us know via email that school is closed because of the weather condition.

Most students who have made it through the majority of their years at Alverno say that they cannot imagine being anywhere else. In fact, many students who leave Alverno to go to other schools because of finances or because they didn't think Alverno was a good fit, often come back. Alverno is not just a school—it's a place that teaches women to think outside of the box and to understand themselves. It becomes a home for many people. Alverno graduates go on to become important women in their workplaces, communities, churches, and homes. The College offers students a unique opportunity to take a really good look at themselves and say, "Who am I?" and "Is this who I really want to be?"
