Campus Housing: Dorms and Social Atmosphere – The dorms at Alverno College are very convenient. They are located at a very reasonable distance from the main buildings. I enjoy living on campus because of these conveniences and because of the social atmosphere. I have met many people from studying in the lobbies of the dorms and also in the coffeehouse. The social atmosphere is very friendly and welcoming for everyone.

Academics: At Alverno College we do not utilize a grading scale or system. We do not receive grades but simply pass or fail. After each paper we write and after each assessment we have to self evaluate our work. During the self assessments our strengths and weaknesses displayed in our work is to be clearly identified and stated why it is a strength or weakness. I personally like the self assessment process with no grading scale because it allows me to know what areas improvements are needed.

Weather: Living in Wisconsin, the weather is awful during the winter. It is hard to get anywhere in this city when it has been snowing the way that it does here most years. Alverno is very good with plowing the parking lots, the area streets, and the sidewalks so snow has never been much of a problem when it comes so getting to class easily and on time.

Diversity: I love my school because there are so many different kinds of people. We have a lot of people studying at my school who come from other areas in the world and these do not include those who are studying abroad at Alverno. Everyone feels welcome because no one stands out as being different from everyone else; this is because everyone is different from their peers. I love it.

Off-Campus Dining: Chilli's, Culvers, Noodles, Leons, Einstein Bagels, taco bell, McDonalds, Subway, IHOP. There are foods from all different parts of the world and I have options if Im spending 3 dollars or 35. Its a little farther than walking distance but it is well worth the short drive.

Computers: It's Better to Have Your Own – Even though there are computer labs available for the students they do seem to get very crowded aroung finals, midterms, and the lunch hour. However if you do have your own personal computer there are many places to pick up wifi on campus.

3 College Senior

Scholarships: It's Ok – I have made it my personal business to complete my FAFSA before the deadline so that I may qualify for all that is available to me. A lot od documents are online so I suggest keeping up with deadlines and talking with a financial aid advisor if you ever have questions

4 College Senior

Drug Safety: None Seen – Alverno is a small private college with a lot of non-traditional students. If drinking or smoking occurs it is somewhere far away from campus

3 College Senior

Local Atmosphere: the atmosphere around the school is pretty much residential with a strip mall as well as resturants down the street

3 College Sophomore

Computers: The computer labs are always packed from 11:30 till about 1:10, so good luck trying to find one. You only get 400 pages to print each semester. It may sound like a lot, but it is not and they go by fast.

Health & Safety: The security is very strict there is always a police officer around campus. Since it is an all girls school everyone is really respectful of each others things. There are RARELY any stealing and never fights that go on on the campus. Overall I always feel very safe on campus.

5 College Sophomore

Diversity: At the campus their is a wide range of different ethics groups, as well as those with different political and financial backgrounds. They try to make it accessible for all students to attend this school.

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: There are several off campus dining restaurants that offers discounts with school i.d. cards.

5 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: The is a no tolerance for any drugs and alcoholic beverages on our campus.

5 College Freshman

Drug Safety: No Drug Problems – I love how responsible and respectful students are to themselves and others.

3 College Freshman

Campus Dining: I don't live on campus, so food is rather expensive for me.

3 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: Alverno is an all girl school so there are only girls. Student's looks varies. Some dress bummy all the time, but some come dressed casually/formally. Most people are very friendly and I've heard a lot of people becoming great friends from meeting one another at Alverno.

4 College Freshman

Computers: Computer labs are great, but computers are slow. And sometimes computers aren't always available, too many students and not enough computers. Wireless access is great though.

College Sophomore

Campus Housing: Don't Live in the Dorms – But my classmates who do don't complain! There are coffee shops hosting regular events in the two dorm buildings. Students have a choice of a single or double in rooms.

5 College Sophomore

Computers: Excellent Technology Access!! Alverno offers state of the art technology from the Technology and Learning Center, a relatively new computer lab with plenty both Mac and PC computers, to the Media Hub, where students have the finest editing equipment for video and audio presentations. Wireless access is present at several areas on campus as well. Bonus? Every student is allotted 400 pages of free printing per semester.

4 College Sophomore

Parking: Parking at Alverno is good. There is always room in the parking structure so that is convenient.

1 College Sophomore

Computers: Printing is a hassle on campus. Half the time the printers are not working and the other time they are out of paper. It also is a pain only getting a certain number of pages to print because we pay enough to go here so it makes no sense for us to have to pay extra. Wireless is also a pain to because you can not always access it.

4 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: Milwaukee is HUGE. But has a lot to offer. Right around Alverno you have the famous Miller Park which we all know is big attraction in the summer months with the Brewers. There is also beautiful views of lake Michigan and all the museums. There is never a dull moment in Milwaukee, especially with all the festivals in the summer. Alverno is a great school located in the center of all the best things Wisconsin has to offer.

5 College Freshman

Scholarships: They Actually Care – The financial aid process went really smoothly. Financial Aid plus grants from the government and my school, plus my scholarship covered all of my tuition and some of my housing. Right now I'm on a very flexible payment plan. But if you need help, don't be afraid to ask, they really want to help you. The faculty really makes you feel like an actual person, not just a number of a student in a school.

5 College Freshman

Facilities: I absolutely love this school. What sets us apart is that we are all females, we dont follow a regular grade scale. They grade us on specific abilities that are necessary to have in the real world. I would recommend this school to any woman who would like to be empowered, and educated well. It's truly an amazing education and a good experience.
