1 College Freshman

Greek Life: We have some greek orgnazations but they meet off-campus and don't work with our campus directly.

3 College Freshman

Nightlife: If you are not 21 or don't have a car, there really isn't much to do.

5 College Freshman

Drug Safety: my school doesn't tolerate drugs and alcohol on the campus.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: my school is close to south 27th street but if you don't have a car it's hard to get there.

4 College Freshman

Parking: We have a parking garage but you need a permit to park there.

5 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: I have honeslty never felt more safe at a school, considering it is an all girls school I was a bit skeptical. We have security on staff at all times and emergency buttons all over campus. If you have late classes you can request to be walked to your car.

5 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: There are so many great restaurants within 15 minutes of Alverno. Downtown milwaukee, eastside, bayview, all of them offer great choices whether you are looking for Mexcian, Sushi, or Wings.

5 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: The school is small but charming, going to an all girls school is great because everyone has different personalities and lives but you can all relate on one thing, woman issues. The parking garage is absolutely fantastic for when a winter storm hits and if there's no parking there, plenty on the streets or in parking lots. Only about 10 minutes from downtown Milwaukee which has plenty to offer!

3 College Senior

Guys & Girls: This is an all girls school so the only men you'll find are faculty and graduate students. However, theres a huge amount of diversity at the school and multiple activities and awesome student groups.

3 College Senior

Campus Dining: The food on campus is decent and there is a good variety to choose from. The mushroom soup is especially delicious. There are tons of dining options in the local area so you won't run out of new places to try.

5 College Sophomore

Computers: I have never had any problems using a computer or have never had to wait for a computer to be available.

4 College Sophomore

Scholarships: The financial aid office is very helpful! I still have to pay a small amount out of pocket, but the burden is minimal.

4 College Junior

Majors: I major in Community Leadership and Development. I love it!! It is very challenging and has broadened my mind beyond what I was prepared for. My professors have high expectations, but they all know me as an individual and are invested in my progress. I can't wait til I graduate and can apply the knowledge I have learned.

4 College Junior

Guys & Girls: All Girls Catholic School – Not many guys will be found on campus unless they are instructors or Masters program students. Otherwise, the girls seem to get along really well. Perhaps that is because we host students and faculty from all over the world, or that we are a college with an emphasis on community, service, and globalism... Alverno students work together with little to no drama.

4 College Junior

Local Atmosphere: Milwaukee is a small-ish town known for it's local music scene. There is alot going on as far as artistic events. Student discounts are common among businesses. The Alverno neighborhood is very safe and crime-free for the most part.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: The strictness at our school is explained for right from the beginning of entering the campus and is enforced but not to the extent that it is shoved down one's throat. It is left upon the students to follow through with expectations of the policies.

2 College Sophomore

Campus Dining: I love the variety and choice's for healthy eating but the prices for those meals are outrageous in my opinion. I would eat off campus because I could receive the same meals with more additions for the same price. It was always disappointing because Alverno carries such a comfortable environment that I wouldn't want to leave and would much rather spend my money on campus but the prices are too high for students.

5 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: I have always felt very safe on campus and as an example, I remember leaving my bag in the bathroom before a class so when the class was over and went to check for my bag it was still there. This showed me how trustworthy other students can be around campus. There has not been any incidents dealing with personal safety or crime to alert me.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: There are many options for off-campus dining and student discounts are of great use when grabbing lunch away from college. The only discomfort is the inconvenience of traveling when only given an hour lunch and driving takes most of it. But I always tried to eat outside of school for lunch because I felt the prices of food inside Alverno were unreasonable and would rather deal with the inconvenience.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: There are fast foods, but also sit down restaurants which gives students a variety to choose from. There are a variety of restaurants and they have Wal Mart nearby as well, which gives students another option. The drive ranges from 5-10min to these restaurants.

5 College Sophomore

Greek Life: There are only 2 sororities at Alverno College. Being part of one, I have noticed that it is not such a big deal at Alverno. It is cool to be in one but it is not a priority for most girls. There are no greek houses(for sororities) in Milwaukee due to the law the keeps more than a certain amount of women living in one house since it would be considered a whore house.

4 College Student

Computers: Computer labs are everywhere. Every semester you get 400 free printed pages. Two Apple labs exist in the media hub.

3 College Student

Weather: You can't change the fact that it's Milwaukee, so there's a lot of snow. But the campus is small, the buildings are almost all connected to one another, and the on-campus security works hard to keep it safe for all. I've never had a problem.

3 College Student

Diversity: Alverno has a diverse student body, including a variety of races and ethnicities. A strong foreign exchange program helps increase the diversity, as does a commitment to inclusion for all sexual orientations and gender identities.

3 College Student

Guys & Girls: Alverno is a women-only college, so there aren't any guys. But the best thing about the school is its ability to help women evolve into strong, independent, compassionate, and intelligent ladies... which is pretty fantastic.

Most students who have made it through the majority of their years at Alverno say that they cannot imagine being anywhere else. In fact, many students who leave Alverno to go to other schools because of finances or because they didn't think Alverno was a good fit, often come back. Alverno is not just a school—it's a place that teaches women to think outside of the box and to understand themselves. It becomes a home for many people. Alverno graduates go on to become important women in their workplaces, communities, churches, and homes. The College offers students a unique opportunity to take a really good look at themselves and say, "Who am I?" and "Is this who I really want to be?"

Most people say that going to college is an investment in your future, but coming to Alverno is an investment in not only your future, but also your community's future. Almost all students who graduate from Alverno get a job within six months of graduation. Its graduates are competent, well-rounded, and have made a name both locally and internationally. At Alverno, students are pushed to analyze documents, literature, and one another. They are also encouraged to continuously self-assess and focus on their success.
