4 College Sophomore

Scholarships: The people in the business and financial aid offices are very helpful.

4 College Senior

Transportation: Public transportation is pretty good around Alverno. Buses run frequently and are decently priced. There are also enough students on campus willing to drive students to the store or other places as well.

4 College Senior

Local Atmosphere: Milwaukee is fairly large which means there's plenty of new places to go all the time. There are a number of great shopping, eating, and entertainment places near campus. There are always students willing to drive people around as well as pretty good and reliable transportation system.

4 College Senior

Scholarships: I got a good scholarship award when I started but with the price of college going up every year I've had more and more to cover on my own. I however was able to renew my scholarship when I needed to extend my education by two years because of a switch in majors.

4 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: Their are movie theatres,, shopping center, and restaurants around the campus.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: I came to Alverno because it is one of the top school in the country. It offers week-end college for mothers and students who have to work full-time during the week. It is very conveinent for me.

5 College Sophomore

Transportation: Public transportation is very good around the campus and they do have bus passes. I drive to school and it takes me an average of 25 minutes, That's not bad at all. Very conveinent for me.

Guys & Girls: Alverno has a variety of students and this is good because you get to meet people of different backgrounds and learn about their cultures and vice versa. One of my classmates is from China and it is so interesting to learn about her culture. You never have to assume about another race beause there is so much diversity at Alverno and we love to share our family and culture with each other. I love the closeness that we have

4 College Sophomore

Facilities: They have self assessments. These assessments let you know if you are understanding what you are learning. They are very helpful.

4 College Sophomore

Facilities: The school is excellent . The faculty helps the students out alot. They are very caring and they truly want you to succeed.

1 College Freshman

Greek Life: We have some greek orgnazations but they meet off-campus and don't work with our campus directly.

3 College Freshman

Nightlife: If you are not 21 or don't have a car, there really isn't much to do.

5 College Freshman

Drug Safety: my school doesn't tolerate drugs and alcohol on the campus.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: my school is close to south 27th street but if you don't have a car it's hard to get there.

4 College Freshman

Parking: We have a parking garage but you need a permit to park there.

5 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: I have honeslty never felt more safe at a school, considering it is an all girls school I was a bit skeptical. We have security on staff at all times and emergency buttons all over campus. If you have late classes you can request to be walked to your car.

5 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: There are so many great restaurants within 15 minutes of Alverno. Downtown milwaukee, eastside, bayview, all of them offer great choices whether you are looking for Mexcian, Sushi, or Wings.

5 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: The school is small but charming, going to an all girls school is great because everyone has different personalities and lives but you can all relate on one thing, woman issues. The parking garage is absolutely fantastic for when a winter storm hits and if there's no parking there, plenty on the streets or in parking lots. Only about 10 minutes from downtown Milwaukee which has plenty to offer!

3 College Senior

Guys & Girls: This is an all girls school so the only men you'll find are faculty and graduate students. However, theres a huge amount of diversity at the school and multiple activities and awesome student groups.

3 College Senior

Campus Dining: The food on campus is decent and there is a good variety to choose from. The mushroom soup is especially delicious. There are tons of dining options in the local area so you won't run out of new places to try.

5 College Sophomore

Computers: I have never had any problems using a computer or have never had to wait for a computer to be available.

4 College Sophomore

Scholarships: The financial aid office is very helpful! I still have to pay a small amount out of pocket, but the burden is minimal.

4 College Junior

Majors: I major in Community Leadership and Development. I love it!! It is very challenging and has broadened my mind beyond what I was prepared for. My professors have high expectations, but they all know me as an individual and are invested in my progress. I can't wait til I graduate and can apply the knowledge I have learned.

4 College Junior

Guys & Girls: All Girls Catholic School – Not many guys will be found on campus unless they are instructors or Masters program students. Otherwise, the girls seem to get along really well. Perhaps that is because we host students and faculty from all over the world, or that we are a college with an emphasis on community, service, and globalism... Alverno students work together with little to no drama.

4 College Junior

Local Atmosphere: Milwaukee is a small-ish town known for it's local music scene. There is alot going on as far as artistic events. Student discounts are common among businesses. The Alverno neighborhood is very safe and crime-free for the most part.

Most students who have made it through the majority of their years at Alverno say that they cannot imagine being anywhere else. In fact, many students who leave Alverno to go to other schools because of finances or because they didn't think Alverno was a good fit, often come back. Alverno is not just a school—it's a place that teaches women to think outside of the box and to understand themselves. It becomes a home for many people.
