Guys & Girls: The women at Alverno College are nice and always there to help if needed.

5 College Senior

Diversity: Very diverse. I get the opportunity to learn about all different cultures from school events.

5 College Senior

Facilities: Being an all women's college, small class sizes, interaction with instructors, feedback on your work.

College Senior

Greek Life: Greek Students Viewed by Non-Greeks – Going to an all girl school you see a lot of mulitcultural individuals. I don't believe non-greeks judge greek students. At Alverno, each student on campus is treated equal, no discrimination

Campus Housing: It could be better but it is a roof over your head. There are great people that live there including myself.

5 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: Just a couple of blocks from the school and you are by lots of food places including walmart and a movie theatre.

3 College Sophomore

Athletics: They are a pretty good team. They are very dedicated and motivated.

4 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: Milwaukee has things to do you just have to research them.

Drug Safety: Alverno is not a party school in the least. The college receives a monthly grant because they are declared a no smoking school; so even cigarette smoking is not allowed on campus perimeter. The on-campus housing is more full of coffee house activities and study groups, never dorm parties. Any drinking usually takes place between peers outside of campus, once the legal drinking age is reached. Usage of alcohol and drugs is not often discussed because of the high educational atmosphere and standards that Alverno upholds.

Transportation: Alverno is known as a commuter school in general, so there is a multitude of options for getting to school. Many girls become friends, which introduces the idea of car pooling. The Milwaukee buses run all over the Milwaukee area, and encompassing areas. For students who prefer saving a few dollars, there are park and rides where ladies can catch a bus to school, and leave their car at a half point. All above are fairly cost effective options to getting around.

Off-Campus Housing: The area surrounding Alverno College is very quiet, and not as frightening as other areas of Milwaukee. Some students may see a con in the fact that the party scene is on the East Side of Milwaukee, but I fully prefer the safe environment of Alverno and West Milwaukee. I live five minutes from the school in a nice neighborhood off Miller Park Way. I have the option of walking, driving, or taking the bus to school if I wanted to. I feel safe doing any of the three. There are an abundance of bus stops and routes located around the Alverno grounds and surrounding areas. Parking is never hard to come by, whether on campus, or in the surrounding neighborhoods.

Off-Campus Housing: There is a number of off campus housing options for every budget near Alverno.

Athletics: There is a sport for every athlete at Alverno. From basketball to volleyball, from cheerleading to dance, you can find a sport that interests you.

5 College Junior

Facilities: Alverno is always working to improve the campus buildings and keep them running up to par. The students can take full advantage of all of the buildings and what they have to offer. There are all sorts of programs and activities the students can participate in and Alverno even gives students the option to start their own activity if none of the others suit them.

Weather: The weather goes along with the season change. It's hot in the Summer and cold in the Winter. Alverno accommodates the students needs as the weather changes each season.

4 College Junior

Academics: This school is very strict in its academics. When first transferring there I wasn't sure I would get used to such strict academics, but over time has realized it's only helping mold better women for the future.

2 College Junior

Scholarships: Alverno doesn't have a big selection of scholarships for students. It would be nice if they could provide students with more from the school, but the workers in the financial aid office will help you find scholarships on other admirable websites.

5 College Junior

Computers: There are a number of computers on campus. Alverno even has computers you can check out for up to 72 hours. The internet connection is great and there are rarely any system problems.

5 College Junior

Nightlife: Not really a nightlife at the school itself, but outside the school there are a number of options for nightlife for all ages.

5 College Junior

Majors: Open to students who change their major over time.

4 College Junior

Local Atmosphere: I had my doubts about Alverno, but after being there for almost two years I can honestly say I do not regret my decision to go. Good school with good people.

4 College Junior

Drug Safety: The drug scene is not even noticed at Alverno college. The girls believe is having fun the safe way and not involving themselves with dangerous substances. I feel very comfortable not being pressured into it.

2 College Junior

Campus Housing: The dorms at Alverno College are very boring, you have to really decorate it to have any personality in the room. Although they are very close to the school and the girls are quiet very friendly.

5 College Junior

Campus Dining: I love the food options in the cafeteria. They have all kinds of foods for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It is always something different whether it is Asian food or Italian food. They also have healthy snacks for between classes.

4 College Senior

Local Atmosphere: It's all women. I like it and I feel comfortable. I haven't encountered much drama

Most students who have made it through the majority of their years at Alverno say that they cannot imagine being anywhere else. In fact, many students who leave Alverno to go to other schools because of finances or because they didn't think Alverno was a good fit, often come back. Alverno is not just a school—it's a place that teaches women to think outside of the box and to understand themselves. It becomes a home for many people. Alverno graduates go on to become important women in their workplaces, communities, churches, and homes. The College offers students a unique opportunity to take a really good look at themselves and say, "Who am I?" and "Is this who I really want to be?"

Most people say that going to college is an investment in your future, but coming to Alverno is an investment in not only your future, but also your community's future. Almost all students who graduate from Alverno get a job within six months of graduation. Its graduates are competent, well-rounded, and have made a name both locally and internationally. At Alverno, students are pushed to analyze documents, literature, and one another. They are also encouraged to continuously self-assess and focus on their success.
