3 College Junior

Facilities: Alvernia has wonderful athletics. Although it is a D3 school all the teams do pretty well and are such interactive groups. They get along so well and do good things all around campus, such as community service activities and the sporting events themselves add to this as well. Its exciting to know that your school succeeds.

3 College Junior

Computers: They have wonderful resources but wifi can be a pain to use in the dorms which makes a trip to the library necessary. But at least the resources are there!

Local Atmosphere: At Alvernia University they have a great scenery. Which isn't that far from our rivalry school Albright University. Reading could be a huge or a small town. i don't know didn't spend a lot of time there.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Freshman dorms are great and some what spacious but very expensive. When you walk into the Freshman dorms, there is somewhat of a smell to the room.

4 College Freshman

Parking: There is a lot of parking on campus. Different parking lots for different buildings. As a freshman, you are allowed to bring a car on campus, which is more convenient for students who commute. Which provides more parking for others depending on how long their days are.

5 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: The RA and Campus Police keep tight restrictions on alcohol use for underage drinking. They allow you to drink in certain dorms, I believe if you are of drinking age. But, don't start advertising because if you start advertising to minors you will removed and probably kicked out of school.

Weather: It snows a lot up there, classes rarely get cancelled, which is really dangerous. Most of my classes far away from my dorm. so it's a little risky to be walking around on icy sidewalks. When the weather is nice everyone hangs outside, plays games, socialize. Classes will sometimes move outside if its real nice. It depends on the class though.

3 College Junior

Weather: It rains a lot, and because the campus is on a mountain the water turns into a river and runs across campus.

3 College Junior

Diversity: Since it was a Catholic all girls college the diversity is now starting to grow on campus.

4 College Junior

Majors: Alvernia University has a variety of opportunities and options available to their students. They work very hard to make connections with each and every student, and it makes all the difference. The experience from the faculty make the programs offered that much better. Also, the school understands the value of hands-on work and first-hand experience in the community as well as in the classroom.

4 College Junior

Academics: The professor' s challenge your thoughts, and have you think outside the box. Work load is far because I work full time and have 2 kids and I can get the work done.

4 College Junior

Athletics: I feel athletics are very important. They take part in community events. The facilities are state of the art.

4 College Junior

Health & Safety: I see security during night classes. They are also very helpful finding where you need to be

Campus Housing: All year students are able to choose between regular dorms or having a big suite. Lots of the housing is new, since most of the campus is being rebuilt. There are a few buildings who need the air conditioning fixed, but other than that the dorms have lots of room and are all close to the main campus area. Upper-class men are able to get apartments, as well as the town houses, which are on campus. They can get them with a bunch of their friends, which gives them more freedom. It's pretty expensive to live on campus but that is expected for a private school.

Guys & Girls: I feel like most of the students at Alvernia are pretty normal. There are definitely a variety of boys and girls from preppy to goth and everything in between. The students are from all over but everyone is nice. There are definitely some good-looking boys and girls once you get into the campus and start socializing.

Scholarships: The financial aid department, at Alvernia University, provides fantastic assistance. They are in touch every step of the way, sending out reminders to apply, providing help with any issues, and always there to let you know if you need anything. I only qualified for a couple state grants, which I received from applying for financial aid, as well as a few loans. Staying in touch with the financial aid department, and asking about any concerns is the best way to be sure your financial aid is on the right track.

3 College Junior

Local Atmosphere: There are many activities in and around the campus. Some activities in the city are not attended by students who are scared to venture into the city.

2 College Junior

Weather: There is severe winter weather and classes are rarely cancelled. This is somewhat annoying because I live about 1/2 hour away and have trouble getting to school in bad weather.

3 College Junior

Facilities: There are many opportunities at Alvernia. It is small but offers a lot for its size.

3 College Junior

Facilities: There are lots of student activities! The athletic center is awesome! The library is diverse in studies and the staff is very helpful.

4 College Senior

Scholarships: The financial aid I received were good, but I wished I could get more help instead of using more loans. The people I go to get information and ask questions were great helpers. They don't really stress you to look for more scholarships or grants to pay your tuition, but they do tell you where to look for them. If you want to speak to someone in the financial aid office, I suggest you ask if anyone is available and make an appointment because the wait can be very long.

3 College Senior

Nightlife: The Nightlife for the students at Alvernia are good. Sometimes they have movie nights and game nights which are fun to go to. They do their best to keep the students more involve in different activities. But it's harder for commuter students to do these activities because of the parking and the night walk to the building where the activities are held.

3 College Freshman

Transportation: Transportation at Alvernia is decent. There are shuttle buses as well as Public Safety officers to drive you around. For being such a small campus, though, you often have to wait a bit too long.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: A little unorthodox for a Catholic University, there are a few wet residence halls. Public safety tends to keep the parties under control while safety is a priority on campus. Here and there a drunken college dude may stumble into your path but it's never an issue. Events are fun and controlled here.

3 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: There are great people at Alvernia, guys and girls, but if you're looking for specific groups of people you won't find them here. There are enough people that there are different kinds but not enough that your group is found easily. For the most part, you'll get to know just about everyone and, as a result, many people are pretty genuine.
