3 College Freshman

Facilities: The campus life is really great, although a lot of people go home on the weekends so it does get quiet. Bernadine hall has a really nice lounge, the commuter lounge. The lounge is not just for commuters, but a lot of commuters stay in there between classes. There are 2 differnet food places on campus besides the cafeteria. There is the courtside cafe in the physical education center. which has really good food and it also has snacks and other things as well. There is also kestrel cafe which serves breakfast food until 11 and it also serves lunch. This cafe is located in Bernadine Hall in the commuter lounge. It is really handy when you want to grab something to eat between classes. The atmosphere is great, the people are really nice and are willing to help you if you need help. The basketball games are always really energetic especially when we play against Albright, our rival. There are always a lot of events going on to keep the students busy . There are comedians, singers, movies on the quad, bingo is a big event on campus. Don't think eww bingo is for old people, they have themed bingo nights where they give away really awesome prizes related to the theme.

Transportation: There is campus transportation provided, there are also buses that stop to pick people up. Overall, convenient.

Campus Dining: The food in the main cafeteria is decent enough, but the food at Courtside Cafe good.

Campus Strictness: Alvernia policies are very lenient, but public safety is pretty strict about parking violations.

4 College Junior

Health & Safety: I take all of my classes at the Philadelphia Police Academy, no safety issues at all.

Scholarships: Alvernia only has about three or four scholarships on their website available to students. The first scholarship which most freshman receive is if you are coming from a Catholic school; however, you only receive that the first year you attend Alvernia and do not receive it the rest of the years.

Off-Campus Housing: The houses near by are okay; however, there are new apartments down the street that are just for Alvernia or Penn State students and they are really nice

Computers: There are plenty of areas to access computers of different sources and places in which you can use your own. They are very up to date.

Campus Strictness: I just transferred to the school and my first semester is in the fall.

Facilities: They have great programs to kick start your future. All of their activities are done to create a community feel, as if we are all almost family. It is a amazing place to feel at home and educate yourself.

Health & Safety: Almost every five feet on campus you will find a security box. These boxes have a button in them that any student can press if they are in some sort of danger. A security guard will either come to the location of the box or talk through a speaker to the student to help them. I feel very safe walking around campus at any time of day or night.

Local Atmosphere: Alvernia is located pretty much in between the city and a small community. The city is always busy and there can be some rough patches. The community, on the other hand, is very scenic and enjoyable to be in. Either way, there are always places to go and new things to see all around the campus.

Parking: Parking on my campus is usually pretty painless. As long as the student arrives about twenty minutes before class they will find a decent parking spot. Each parking lot is labelled according to class, which makes it easier to find available spots.

Academics: The registration process at Alvernia is so quick and easy! A student's advisor helps out immensely with choosing the proper classes. Once the classes are chosen, they give you a set date and time at which your class can register. Once that time comes the student can log on, choose their classes, and save! Quick and easy, tons of stress taken off everyone's backs in a matter of seconds.

Facilities: Alvernia is such a beautiful campus! The owners are slowly rebuilding a lot of the older buildings. Also, to accommodate the high rate of students coming in each year, Alvernia has added multiple apartment housing and dorm rooms. Just walking through this campus is like walking through a story book, everything is well kept and amazing to look at. There's history seen in every inch of the campus! There are also quite a few apartments for rent around the campus as well as recreational parks, restaurants, and even a mall down the road.

Guys & Girls: The guys are girls at my university are very friendly. Since the campus is somewhat small, the students are very close knit and accepting of new comers. It's very easy to spark up a conversation with other students and act as if you've known them for years. This atmosphere was really helpful my freshman year!

3 College Sophomore

Academics: My major is Health Care Sciences. This major was only brought to the school last year so there are still some kinks here and there but it is definitely a great program to be a part of. The Health Care Sciences major is progressing quickly and creating clubs and lectures that students can attend to learn more about the major. I enjoy being a Health Care Sciences major because it's new and exciting!

4 College Sophomore

Facilities: My school is very well known for it's extra curricular activities. There are activities such as clubs, fairs, races, and sports going on almost every day or night. Since the campus is small compared to other universities, these activities give students a wide variety of things to do outside of the classroom. The activities are always fun and entertaining. Joining these activities are also great ways to make new friends and learn more about the people and campus!

4 College Junior

Campus Housing: All the housing is pretty up to date and spacious. I would say that its a lot nicer compared to many other schools. Alvernia is constantly under construction building more housing or renovating which is nice. I will not move off campus while I am attending and I don't know too many students who do live off campus.

2 College Junior

Transportation: The campus itself is very small which is nice because travel isn't a huge deal. However the school does not provide much help when travel is needed. Cars are allowed to be kept at school no matter what year you are for free so that is helpful to those of us who own cars. Altogether though they do not offer much aid in this area.

3 College Junior

Local Atmosphere: I don't know if you have ever been to Reading Pennsylvania but it is not really a beautiful place. It can be dangerous in certain areas which is always a downside but there are up sides to it. There are some neat sites to see and some pretty scenery around campus. However knowing you are so close to an unfortunate area is a downside.

3 College Junior

Facilities: Student life is good. You have to make yourself get involved. People aren't just running around forcing you to do things which I think is good. You're in college so you need to learn how to get involved on your own. But if you want to be there are definitely plenty of options and fun things to do!

3 College Junior

Facilities: Alvernia has wonderful athletics. Although it is a D3 school all the teams do pretty well and are such interactive groups. They get along so well and do good things all around campus, such as community service activities and the sporting events themselves add to this as well. Its exciting to know that your school succeeds.
