College Freshman

Majors: I have never had an internship. However, fieldwork courses are available and our career development office lends a helping hand to students in search of internships.

Majors: The faculty is amazing. They have experience in the field and teach each class with passion with love and experience. They really know what they are talking about and really help point students in the right direction.

College Freshman

Greek Life: We do not have Greek Life on campus.

Facilities: As a student, I always feel welcomed on campus. Everyone will smile or say hi to you when passing, and that is a little gesture that goes a long way. Students can attend sports events for free which is nice. Everyone attends and supports the school and it's a fun time. There are always events that are going on on campus, you can never be bored!

Facilities: The scenery at my school is beautiful. I'm not just saying this because it's my school, but because it is true. I love everything about my school. The welcoming atmosphere, and the scenery just makes me feel like I'm at home even when I am two hours away from it.

Local Atmosphere: I love my campus and the atmosphere that it holds. I feel so welcomed, always and I look forward to being there for the next two years.

College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: Parking for commuters is impossible unless you have the first class of the day. All of the residence halls on campus are brand new and worth living in.

College Freshman

Nightlife: I can honestly say I have only drank in my room on two occasions and I have never gone to a college party on or near campus. I also have no interest in attending any.

3 College Freshman

Computers: The WiFI goes in and out, and the library may have a lot of computers, but when everyone is trying to study and print notes, it can be a little difficult to find a free computer.

4 College Freshman

Drug Safety: If you hang around with the right people, you won't be pressured to drink, and if you try to fit in with the wrong people, then they will pressure you to do things that you do not want to do.

Campus Dining: There are 2 differnet food places on campus besides the cafeteria. There is the courtside cafe in the physical education center. which has really good food and it also has snacks and other things as well. There is also kestrel cafe which serves breakfast food until 11 and it also serves lunch. This cafe is located in Bernadine Hall in the commuter lounge. It is really handy when you want to grab something to eat between classes. I suggest these rather than the cafeteria if you get a chance, the cafeteria food is not bad but the food at the crusader cafe and kestrel cafe are a lot better and you have more options.

Facilities: The campus life is really great, although a lot of people go home on the weekends so it does get quiet. Bernadine hall has a really nice lounge, the commuter lounge. The lounge is not just for commuters, but a lot of commuters stay in there between classes. There are 2 differnet food places on campus besides the cafeteria. It is really handy when you want to grab something to eat between classes. The atmosphere is great, the people are really nice and are willing to help you if you need help. The basketball games are always really energetic especially when we play against Albright, our rival. There are always a lot of events going on to keep the students busy . There are comedians, singers, movies on the quad, bingo is a big event on campus. Don't think eww bingo is for old people, they have themed bingo nights where they give away really awesome prizes related to the theme.

Campus Strictness: Alvernia policies are very lenient, but public safety is pretty strict about parking violations.

4 College Junior

Health & Safety: I take all of my classes at the Philadelphia Police Academy, no safety issues at all.

Scholarships: Alvernia only has about three or four scholarships on their website available to students. The first scholarship which most freshman receive is if you are coming from a Catholic school; however, you only receive that the first year you attend Alvernia and do not receive it the rest of the years.

Off-Campus Housing: The houses near by are okay; however, there are new apartments down the street that are just for Alvernia or Penn State students and they are really nice

Computers: There are plenty of areas to access computers of different sources and places in which you can use your own. They are very up to date.

College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: I just transferred to the school and my first semester is in the fall.

5 College Student

Facilities: They have great programs to kick start your future. All of their activities are done to create a community feel, as if we are all almost family. It is a amazing place to feel at home and educate yourself.

5 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Almost every five feet on campus you will find a security box. These boxes have a button in them that any student can press if they are in some sort of danger. A security guard will either come to the location of the box or talk through a speaker to the student to help them. I feel very safe walking around campus at any time of day or night.

Local Atmosphere: Alvernia is located pretty much in between the city and a small community. The city is always busy and there can be some rough patches. The community, on the other hand, is very scenic and enjoyable to be in. Either way, there are always places to go and new things to see all around the campus.
