College Senior

Campus Strictness: Im Not on Campus That Much to Know – I am a 32 year old student at Alvernia who lives off campus and is only on campus for class! I am not to sure how strict my school is with policies affecting students academic and social lives. What I do know is that Alvernia is strict on academic dishonesty and they do have a program that brings awareness to underage drinking on campus. My school is quiet and peaceful, at least in my eyes it is. We have great security is always patroling and are very friendly.

Nightlife: No Clubs Needed – There are definitely destination party houses that most students flock to rather than a club to save money.

4 College Senior

Diversity: You can find a interesting mixture of ethnicities at Alvernia including people from all over the country.

Parking: It's Rough Sometimes – Parking is definitely an issue. There are certain times when it is not so bad, but when you try to get a spot at a certain time it is terrible. Then people park in spots they shouldn't just so they have a spot, which is an issue if Public Safety gives you a ticket.

Facilities: Construction Issues – I know it is because of the construction, but it has been very difficult finding places to hang with friends late at night. I am excited for the new student union like building that will provide late-night options for students!

Campus Strictness: Academics Expectations Are Strict – The teachers expect you to be prepared and come to class with the materials read/ topics covered. there is little hand holding but they will provide support if they see a student who is struggling. they know who is working hard and who is skating along. they do not mice words about it.

5 College Junior

Academics: Education Department – The teachers are current in the trends in the teaching world as well as provide many opportunities for real class room experience. they foster a love of learning in their own students , who them will go out to foster upcoming students.

Academics: Alvernia University is great for students returning to school after a career change or a second start in life. The college is always available to help with questions, financial aid, and scheduling your classes so that is works best with your adult life schedule. It is positive place , a small campus where all the sisters, who live on campus, get to know the students and add a comforting feel to the school.

Majors: The Hub to All Venues – My university is central to all sporting venues in my area. This has offered me a vast variety within my program for hands on training. I totally enjoy my major and am thankful for the instruction I've received to date. All my clinicals have been under the direction of the school and have been beneficial.

5 College Sophomore

Majors: I have experienced clinical training for the last 4 semesters. It is not a paid position and the school places you. I have been in different sites experiencing everything from high school athletic injuries to triple AAA athletic injuries. My continued clinicals will place me in a local high school for my last two semesters and hopefully I can secure a position with all the hands on work I've accomplished.

5 College Sophomore

Majors: Hard Work Pays Off – Relatively easy, there was no special application or process to be accepted. The one criteria was you had to maintain a certain GPA. All in all the process was simple and my work in high school paved the way. My tips are to just push yourself at the secondary level and most majors at the college level will fall into place with your demonstration of good grades supporting you.

Majors: I'm Ecstatic About My Major – Changed my major from the medical field to be active and do what I love. My parents were not thrilled with my decision but it is the best I've ever made. I am an active college senior who has played sports my entire life, this choice of career was a no-brainer and I have had a blast up to this point with all my clinical work interacting with AT supervisors and all athletes I have come in contact with. My career goal is too possibly go to grad school but the end result is too be on the sidelines of an organized sports team and help athletes to stay healthy!!! I truly have no concerns about finding a job in my field because there is a need and the opportunities are vast.

Diversity: Odd Ball Out – At Alvernia University we have a fairly white percentage of students. You will see one or two people of another ethnicity or race, but primarily we only have white students. You could blame it on a small campus, but many students here are white.

5 College Sophomore

Transportation: Carpooling with other students is the best option at Alvernia University. Many students have cars on campus, but also many don't have cars on campus. It's fun to get a group together to go places. Also, many students cars are parked far away so its best to take one car.

5 College Junior

Guys & Girls: We have beauty, brains, and guts. The handsome guys are great too.

4 College Junior

Drug Safety: We recently took a survey for the school on drugs and alcohol; and I do not remember the numbers, but a lot less students use drugs and alcohol and we think.

College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: There are no close off-campus housing options available.

1 College Freshman

Health & Safety: Health & Safety – "Public Safety" is a group of rent-a-cops that only patrol when they are called to. It is difficult to get any officer's help by calling the office and even more difficult to find one around campus. The only building security is key card opened doors, which are pretty much useless because people hold the doors open for everyone. Anyone can drive onto campus, there is no security gate anywhere. The school is also a good distance away from the city, so calling for help from the city police in any situation would leave you waiting for some time.

3 College Freshman

Transportation: Shuttle transportation is available that runs to the parking lots off-campus and to the Upland Center, however, they do run late and tend to be unreliable.

4 College Junior

Nightlife: Clubs Are for Residents – The vast majority of club meetings are in the evenings, better for resident students than commuters. Commuters taking the bus won't be able to attend club meetings.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: Active Social Life – Alvernia has a great student body. Very friendly, very accepting. And there are plenty of events and fun things to do. Keep an eye on the walls in the commuter lounge and the table tents in the cafeteria and you'll never be without something to do.

4 College Junior

Transportation: Shuttle and City Bus – There's public and student transportation options at Alvernia. There's a shuttle that loops around the main campus and includes the Upland Center. The city bus also stops right in front of campus, so you can get to Reading easily.

3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: My Experience – Alvernia is a great school because professors and staff care about your success and want each student to do well. They challenge students to work to their fullest potential. The campus is not to big or not to small. People are friendly and kind. Downside is the food, not many good options.

4 College Freshman

Weather: Weather is usually good enough to go for walks and play outdoor sports most weeks of every season. I can be windy, but that doesn't stop some of us!

2 College Freshman

Athletics: Fan support and school spirit very poor but team performance good
