Athletics: There are some people here who care about sports, but for the most part? Sports aren't all that important here.

Greek Life: Greek life is huge at Alma College, but it doesn't require absolutely everything out of a student. There are frats and sisterhoods that have to do with mostly parties, but nothing is done without a good reason. Parties are huge, yes, but you need to keep a good GPA, normally be involved in other things to be considered in the greek life sector, and the connection between everything is pretty strong.

Majors: I love the Education program. If I had to do it again I would. As far as my career goals, I want to become a teacher that not only helps students achieve good grades by mastering the concepts, but also help them grow as a individual. The only concern I have about finding a job is the rocky economy .

4 College Sophomore

Majors: I was a transfer student so my process of applying to the Education program was a little different. I still had to fill out an application, ask 2 professors to send in a recommendation, and achieve good grades. The most important criteria for admission is your GPA. A tip; make sure you know when you need to fill out your application and get it in on time!

Majors: The Education department is wonderful! The professors throughout the Education department are always there to help you. The work load is tough but it's manageable.

3 College Senior

Transportation: Everything is in walking distance. However, if you need a ride the transportation is easily found.

5 College Senior

Local Atmosphere: Alma is an amazing community. Everyone supports each other at events.

4 College Freshman

Nightlife: It is really fun if you know where to go. There just isn't many options to go and hang out at so a lot of times you wander the campus.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: I feel very safe on campus. I don't feel like there is much danger. I could leave my car unlocked the entire year and nothing has gone missing.

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: There is not air conditioning, and really that is all that sucked to me!

4 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: They do a good job balancing safety and just allowing the students to be the young people they are.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: It is all mainly fast food that is near the actual campus. But if you have a car you can drive the 10 minutes to Mount Pleasant, but who has money for gas? We are poor college students!

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: Campus security is always walking around and making sure things are getting to crazy.

5 College Freshman

Greek Life: Everyone at Alma College is pretty indifferent about Greek life. If you don't do it no one will hate you for it, but no one hates you for joining either.

Parking: Some of the parking lots are far away from the dorm rooms for having such a small campus.

2 College Senior

Diversity: The school is mostly dominated by caucasian students, it is a small school and there is some diversity but not much. However, all diverse groups are accepted. It's more a judge of character then a judgement of what they look like or lifestyle choices.

1 College Senior

Off-Campus Dining: Most of the off campus dining options are fast food or chains, there are very few healthy options. Also almost all of the dining options close before midnight.

4 College Sophomore

Facilities: Alma has a great CSO (Center for Student Opportunity) that is great with helping you plan semester abroad experiences, setting up a good resume, and other things. It also gives a quiet place for students to study. The library and mac lab are fairly good places to study as well. For the social scene, there is not a lot to do in the town of Alma, but you can always count on something going on, on campus to get you out of your dorm room. There are tons of groups and clubs to join for just about every interest you may have.

4 College Sophomore

Parking: The parking on campus is pretty nice. Most of it is very close to the dorms, or not more than a 5-10 (if you are parked at the church) minute walk. The ones that are closer to the dorms are more money, the most you will pay as of right now is $200 for the entire year. Finding a spot on the weekend is usually fairly easy unless there is a big event going on, on campus where many people from outside the school come to visit. They will give you a ticket during the week though if you are parked somewhere you are not supposed to be (on weekends you can park wherever you want though).

3 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: The dorms are nice in general. Depending on what you prefer, some of them have more storage space, while some of the rooms themselves are bigger (they have a variety). The housing process is fairly simple as well, and pretty much all of them are within close proximity to classes. The ovens and washers and dryers are not great though. The ovens tend to burn the food you put in them, and the dryers don't always fully dry your clothes. However, I know they are looking into getting new ones for next year.

4 College Freshman

Majors: I am an education major; however, I am still a freshmen so I have not yet had an internship. I plan to have one because I think that it is very good opportunity and experience. I also have to student teach which in a way os like an internship.

5 College Freshman

Health & Safety: The campus is very safe. There are always security around and the campus is so small that there is always someone near. I always feel safe on campus.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: There are a few decent restaurants; however, for the most part if you want to go out for a nice dinner and not fast food, you have to take the drive to Mt. Pleasant.

4 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: You will find a lot of athletes and liberal arts students. Alma has really only three types of people on campus: athletes, artsy people, and those who are just simply students.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: Alma College does a very good job in the content areas and in opportunities for study and future jobs. On-campus visits from many professional groups are held frequently and are very informative. Internships and summer opportunities for study are also available for students.
