Overall ExperienceWhat's This?

Something commonly heard from recent graduates is how much easier graduate programs were after the rigorous Allegheny courseload. Whether at grad school or at their first job out of college, Allegheny graduates have the skills to succeed in their fields. When considering their time at Allegheny, most students are very thankful for the education they received and all of the great people they got to know. There are so many different kinds of people and points of view that students are encouraged to do anything they truly want to do. Most people feel that they have really grown and changed as a result of the Allegheny experience—and in a good way.

There are students who have regrets or who feel they were in some way disappointed with their Allegheny education or experience. For one thing, Meadville does not provide the kinds of opportunities or the nightlife that a big-city university would. Succeeding at Allegheny is a lot of work and students looking for a party school will not find it here. It takes a lot of time and effort, and for some, it might not be worth it. But all that time and effort is meant to pay off, and for hard-working students, it does.

Health & Safety: Walking back from the library at night is a little creepy, but that's just because I'm paranoid and always think someone is walking behind me or something. Also, the lights along certain pathways aren't always lit, so that freaks me out a little bit too if I'm walking by myself. Other than that, though, I honestly haven't been in a situation where I didn't feel safe on campus.

Campus Dining: There are only two places to eat on campus, so the food can get pretty repetitive. However, I can't complain because the quality of the food isn't too bad.

College Junior

Nightlife: I've never been to a bar in town, so I have no response!

Facilities: The campus is small, but I honestly love it. I'm a nerd, so I spend a bunch of time in the library doing my reading assignments and writing papers. I think it's a great space to study and get work done. The top and bottom floors are strictly quiet floors, so if you really need to concentrate, you have no need to worry about noisy chatterboxes!

Off-Campus Dining: Besides the typical fast-food restaurants, there really isn't much to choose from. The small bars and diners in town are cheap and convenient though, so it's not too bad. Unfortunately, if you don't have a car to drive ten minutes off campus, you still don't have many options.
