Facilities: The campus is beautiful with its architecture, but many of the buildings are old and you can tell when you're in them. The science buildings are definitely newer and the campus center is a great place to hang out. The library is also a great place to go, although if you actually want to study there it's best to get a cubicle in the basement or 2nd floor, as the 1st floor isn't always quiet.

Diversity: There isn't a whole lot of diversity as most people are from the surrounding PA area, which is primarily Caucasian. There are a decent amount of international students and students with various religious beliefs though.

Greek Life: The Greek Life is pretty good. Fraternities have their own houses, but Sororities don't. There are a ton of different people with their own interests in all of Greek Life on campus, so it's pretty easy to find a place where you fit in. Overall, I didn't really think I would go Greek, but after I did, I am glad to be a part of so many people's lives.

Guys & Girls: Everyone is different, so no matter what you will be able to find somewhere you fit. It does seem that many people are in the higher class here, but it doesn't really bother me much.

College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: All Allegheny students are required to live on campus.

3 College Sophomore

Weather: It rains a lot, but I am from Western PA so the weather here is pretty similar (maybe a little colder and wetter).

4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: I am a small, female and have never really felt unsafe on campus at night. If you ever need anything, all you have to do is call security and they will help you.

College Sophomore

Majors: You don't have to apply to be in any specific program at Allegheny.

College Sophomore

Majors: I have never had an internship although I am open to finding one dealing in medicine to get the experience.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: Lots of people are Biology majors here, but the department is great although it is tough. The faculty are always willing to help even with the workload.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: The academic courses are often rigorous with a heavy course load, but most professors are more than willing to assist you with problems (just go to their office hours).

3 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: The locals like students, but there isn't much to do within walking distance of campus. If you have a car, then you can drive to the Grove City Outlets and other attractions.

4 College Sophomore

Computers: There are a decent amount of labs on campus. The network is often good, although it can be slow at times. The only printers on campus that print in color are on the 1st floor of the library.

3 College Student

Academics: The workload is certainly large but its college! Allegheny definitely prepares you for life after college!

4 College Student

Academics: I love the political science department! Most people come in as a science major and a lot of focus is put there but the humanities and social sciences are equally as good!

4 College Student

Overall Experience: This place definitely changes lives.

Campus Dining: We are extremely lucky to have Parkhurst! They are a great company that tries very hard to use quality food! There are two dinning halls, Brooks and McKinley's. Brooks is cafeteria style and Mckins is a customized style

3 College Student

Campus Strictness: Really depends on what you do! The school is small but they recognize its college and people are going to mess up

4 College Student

Nightlife: All depends on where you go!

3 College Student

Health & Safety: I always feel safe on campus and Safety and Security are always there to help!

4 College Student

Majors: Most science majors have a plethora of research opportunities to pick from and other departments have them too! With and office called ACCEL internships, research opportunities, resume help, job searches and everything are all covered and its a great tool to use!

5 College Student

Majors: I love the political science department here! All the professors are super helpful! they always are willing to help me and are interested in everything i'm doing!

3 College Student

Scholarships: Everyone typically gets some form of aid from the school. The office of financial aid at the school is pretty good at listening to student needs and helping out!

3 College Student

Transportation: The school has a contract with the CATA, we call it the Loop and it shuttles people around for free on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday on a specific loop and then its available other days of the week for a different schedule

3 College Student

Drug Safety: Its college, you're going to be able to find what you need if you look hard enough. Drinking is a more popular activity though.

Overall ExperienceWhat's This?

Something commonly heard from recent graduates is how much easier graduate programs were after the rigorous Allegheny courseload. Whether at grad school or at their first job out of college, Allegheny graduates have the skills to succeed in their fields. When considering their time at Allegheny, most students are very thankful for the education they received and all of the great people they got to know. There are so many different kinds of people and points of view that students are encouraged to do anything they truly want to do. Most people feel that they have really grown and changed as a result of the Allegheny experience—and in a good way.

There are students who have regrets or who feel they were in some way disappointed with their Allegheny education or experience. For one thing, Meadville does not provide the kinds of opportunities or the nightlife that a big-city university would. Succeeding at Allegheny is a lot of work and students looking for a party school will not find it here. It takes a lot of time and effort, and for some, it might not be worth it. But all that time and effort is meant to pay off, and for hard-working students, it does.
