4 College Student

Scholarships: The process was alright but I am in need of more financial aid.

3 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: Small town atmosphere but near Erie and Pittsburgh if you need to get to a city.

5 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: Not very strict, unless you do something crazy. Okay to have members of opposite sex in your room at any time.

3 College Freshman

Health & Safety: Average for a small school.

2 College Freshman

Transportation: hopefully, you know someone with a car.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: housing is average for Freshmen, and upperclassmen have access to nice apartment style buildings.

3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: it is like any school.

4 College Freshman

Greek Life: Great way to make lifelong friends.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: Obviously, i would like to have received more financial aid, but i am fortunate to have received the scholarships and grants i did.

4 College Freshman

Diversity: i enjoy meeting our students from other countries.

4 College Freshman

Academics: So far, my major is challenging but rewarding.

3 College Freshman

Weather: It can be snowy and cold in the Winter, but then it warms up nicely in the Spring.

3 College Freshman

Nightlife: Nightlife is okay for a small school.

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Pretty decent housing. Basically just depends on your luck.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: Dining off-campus is okay here at Allegheny. For most of the students here without a car, they would have to walk to a different dining place and that could take about 20 minutes. However, if students have a car like I do then that makes all the difference with time and convenience. There is a great variety of dining options at reasonable prices and most of the local spots give Allegheny students discounts.

4 College Freshman

Academics: it is the best thing about the college

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: It is ok as long as you do not live in Ravine.

2 College Freshman

Overall Experience: I do not love my school I attend; it just was not the right choice for me, but that may not be the case for you. My advise is to choose your school wisely, and do not let anyone else make your choice. Do what is best for you!

Overall ExperienceWhat's This?

Something commonly heard from recent graduates is how much easier graduate programs were after the rigorous Allegheny courseload. Whether at grad school or at their first job out of college, Allegheny graduates have the skills to succeed in their fields. When considering their time at Allegheny, most students are very thankful for the education they received and all of the great people they got to know. There are so many different kinds of people and points of view that students are encouraged to do anything they truly want to do. Most people feel that they have really grown and changed as a result of the Allegheny experience—and in a good way.

There are students who have regrets or who feel they were in some way disappointed with their Allegheny education or experience. For one thing, Meadville does not provide the kinds of opportunities or the nightlife that a big-city university would. Succeeding at Allegheny is a lot of work and students looking for a party school will not find it here. It takes a lot of time and effort, and for some, it might not be worth it. But all that time and effort is meant to pay off, and for hard-working students, it does.
