4 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: They are pretty much strict about all the things you think they would be about; drugs, alcohol, noise, cleanliness, parking, and curfew. You can't be in certain academic building after a period of time or you will get in trouble. They are a little to strict with noise, but I understand why. Everything else is pretty average and well enforced. Cleanliness is there, for fire safety reasons, and communal cleaning of the bathrooms and kitchen. You don't have to clean it yourself there is a janitor, but have respect and not being completely disrespectful is expected of you.

4 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: Public safety does well in keeping everything in order.

3 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: Having visitors in dorms is super easy and not strict at all especially if they are over 18

5 College Senior

Campus Strictness: So long as you're not obnoxious about it and force them to take action, the authorities are really chill. You just have to be discrete and respectful. After a while, you learn all the ins and outs: when you can park in certain restricted places without getting in trouble, what time of day you can have alcohol in the buildings without anyone noticing, etc.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: There are rules and there is punishment if they are broken if you get caught. Most people on campus know the simple little things to do to avoid getting caught. Whether the college likes to admit to it or not, underage drinking is pretty prevalent on campus. Its not such a big deal because most students try to be responsible.

For campus safety officials and RAs, Alfred University is a cakewalk. All they really ever have to do is shut students up after quiet hours and sweep their rooms for paraphernalia. Despite their best efforts, students are generally very well behaved on campus.

Regulations concerning substance abuse, theft, or assault are strictly enforced, while every other rule is bendable and easily lobbied in your favor. Got a parking ticket? Appeal it, or better yet, pay a visit to your friend, the parking clerk. The great thing about having a campus that is so student-run is that you know plenty of people in beneficial places. Also, Alfred students just don’t go out of their way to break rules. There’s a nice ebb and flow of socially acceptable activity, and everyone on campus seems to be in the groove. After all, who can afford to be fined for throwing snowballs (it’s true!) when the price of school continues to skyrocket?
