4 College Senior

Facilities: The new dorms are quite good, although there is very little public transportation to and from campus.

5 College Senior

Scholarships: They have good scholarships available for meritorious students from all spheres. I think there are oppportunities available for everyone.

2 College Senior

Scholarships: I believe it the personnel that handles financial aid worked diligently on issues of financial aid rather than other things alot of the hassle and dissatisfaction would be at a minimum.

5 College Senior

Campus Dining: Campus dining is quite good. They usually have good meal choices available for everyone.

3 College Senior

Campus Strictness: The police force can be pretty strict about parking, even though there are not many parking slots available. First-time offenders get a hold on their account sometimes. I think if they add more parking spots, that would be better for everyone.

3 College Senior

Nightlife: Nightlife is for students who are 21 or older. There are a few 18-and-older clubs, but I say skip the clubs. Your best bet is a school party here at Patton's which is a local restaurant.

3 College Senior

Weather: Weather is on the extreme ends over here. Sometimes it can be either too cold during winters,it might randomly start raining (inclement) and sometimes extraordinarily hot during summers. However, classes hardly ever get cancelled.

3 College Junior

Local Atmosphere: Alcorn has tourist attractions like Windsor Ruins and the small town of Rodney which has a chuch with a cannon ball in the side of the church. This town also sits directly on the MS River. It floods every time there is a hurricane anywhere close by.

3 College Junior

Campus Dining: Everybody loves Chicken Wednesdays and Fish Fridays!!

3 College Junior

Transportation: Transportation is ok. You can get to class by shuttle bus or by hitching a ride with other students on campus with a car. The campus is walker friendly and you get your daily exercise by walking to class.

Campus Housing: Honors Dorms Are the Best – The new dorms aren't as spacious, quiet, and sanitized as the new dorms. Living in the Honor's Dorms are much better than any of the other dorms on campus because they are much more convienient and closer to the classes.

Majors: Many to choose from and it depends on your "major"

3 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: Not Fun for Boring People – Coming from the big city is a big transition coming to Lorman, MS. There isn't much around here to do as far as attractions and sights, but for those of us who get crazy high on life, it is a paradise. You are all but forced to study and make friends unless you drive miles from campus. Suggestion for anyone who can't make fun times happen, you are going to have a hard time making the transition.

3 College Junior

Campus Dining: The food is very pleasant and the meals are average for a campus. You do get surprised every once in a while with a decent meal. The options are open and usually include pizza, hamburgers, fries, entree and other desserts. Not a bad deal at all but compared to a home cooked meal it's average. There is always Pizza Hut, Sub Connection or Starbucks

3 College Junior

Greek Life: Greeks Are Normal Students Too – Greeks do throw parties and have other social events throughout the school year but they accommodate all other students. It does not matter if you're in a frat or sorority because there isn't any discrimination. Definitely not like the television shows depict!

2 College Junior

Diversity: Not That Diverse – There are not many diverse students expect for those that play sports. The majority is black but everyone is very welcoming and do not hesitate to assist others, whether its academic or not. There are hardly any challenges to overcome and acceptance is very easy. I haven't met any racial persons. Very religious and its a 60/40 boy to girl

Local Atmosphere: Nothing to Do – Lorman, Mississippi, is a small town but the atmosphere is very family oriented. Lorman, however, does not have much area attractions, activities, events and shopping malls. The weekends are spent mainly on campus unless you have a car to go home or go out to the nearest recreation areas. The bonus is that you won't spend a lot of money!

3 College Junior

Health & Safety: Pretty Safe – I feel safe at Alcorn. Security has a somewhat high presence and always available if you need them. You do the crime, you gotta do the time. So don't park in no parking zones!!

3 College Junior

Parking: Parking is ok. Parking at the cafeteria can be montrous if you get there late. Parking at the dormitory is pretty descent if you get there before 8:00 p.m.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: the school is very safe the police are always around and the staff are always willing to help and make sure you are safe

4 College Freshman

Athletics: The team is good people love to watch them play we believe in our team

3 College Junior

Majors: Its Amazing – This program is excellent it challenges you to be all that you can be. There is always a special presentation that keeps you interest and the teachers are great also.

3 College Junior

Majors: Its a Task – Basic majors are very easy to get into. Nursing is not so easy, guess because it is teaching you to care for someones life.

2 College Junior

Campus Dining: Not to Many! Theres not to many options provided on this campus. If your not eating in the Cafeteria then theres only 2 more options...so once you are kind of tired of it you really have to get creative on your own.

4 College Junior

Majors: Behind the Scenes Policing – As a criminal justice major, I will have an opportunity to shadow a police officer in my home town. This intership is unpaid but I will recieve college credit and on the job training if I decide to become a police officer. My responsilibities are to observe the Police Officer and at the end develop a portfolio to tell about my experience.
