Athletics: Throughout the day, you would see different types of athletics roaming the campus. Either they are going to practice or they are coming from practice. Sometimes they are hanging out, doing what they do best which is perfecting their sport in every way possible. Football players would get together after practice and simply play a game of football. Basketball, Softball, Baseball, and Volleyball players do the same also. Often you would see the band members practicing and Track and Field are on the track getting ready for track season.

Guys & Girls: Everybody is laid back, you half half the campus dressing up all the time, another half that dress down in sweats and t shirts. Everyone is their own individual.

Health & Safety: It's a good school, the teachers are ALL from my experimce really helpful and willing to go that extra mile for students. The campus can get extremely boring on weekends if no sports are being played, but doing the week its really fun. The down side is some of employees can be rude, unwilling to help, and defensive. They will send you all over the world just to get one question answered. It's hard to get financial aid on the phone, cashier's office is hard to contact. The students and classes are good.

Academics: The classes are great, not a heavy workload. Professors answers questions to work that you don't understand. Also, classes are small.

Scholarships: There aren't many scholarships a student can apply for. Scholarships are mostly available to athletes and band members.

Local Atmosphere: My school is as safe as will get you. The location is off in the woods where you are surrounded by your peers everyday. The only down part about my school is that you have to travel a good ways if you wanted a dinner, go shopping or even a good gas station.

Diversity: The diversity at Alcorn is wonderful. The Center for Diversity and Inclusion often holds programs that brings together many of the foreign students, teachers, and faculty. In these programs we have many discussions about making positive changes in our lives and becoming the best individual we can be.

Scholarships: The financial aid process at Alcorn State University is not an experience to look forward to especially for incoming freshmen and transfer students. When waiting to be helped the average wait time can be anywhere from 2-3 hours. At times it may seem if the counselors are giving the students the run around. A tip of advice to those dealing with this process for the first time; stay steadfast and make them do their job.

Off-Campus Dining: Alcorn State has four off-campus restaurants in a 5-mile radius. They are as follows: Patton’s, The College Grill, CJ’s, and The Old Country Store. All four have great prices for a college student’s budget with great food.

Campus Dining: The dining hall seems to serve nice meals but the hours are not very considerate of the students. Also as of now there are not many other eating franchise located near the campus. A snack between class is difficult because of the open hours.

Computers: The computer labs at Alcorn State University are more than adequate in size. The biggest problem we have is the printers not always working.

Athletics: Athletic involvement at Alcorn State are high. Students especially young men are into all sports. Basketball is one of the biggest sports on campus. We have two gyms and at all times of the day they are full. They even created inter-moral teams for young men that did not get a chance to play on the official team. The team performance involving girls and boys they are cocky, but good when they want to be. The boys team wins more games than the girls. Our baseball team is the best sport threw out the school and all sports are very diverse. On campus all student go out and support our sports. We love wearing our school colors. And we also have our own cheers.
