Nightlife: I'm not a nightlife person, so I don't have much information on the cover charges, level of fun, or drink prices. There is a club located behind the school. There is also a club located about 15 minutes away from the school, that I attended once, but didn't feel safe because there was glass being thrown everywhere. There are a lot of house parties and greek parties.

Campus Strictness: The thing that the school itself is known to be strict about is parking. They are big on writing students tickets and towing, if you fail to purchase a parking decal or follow the parking rules and regulations that are in place. Nursing school: policies and procedures are followed to the T. There is no bending of the rules.

Facilities: I like them, but they could use improvement.

Computers: I think the computer networks are great, but u might need a laptop.

3 College Sophomore

Transportation: I just don't see it around as much.

Campus Strictness: It's not that bad, it's just some things we can't do.

3 College Sophomore

Greek Life: I wouldn't know about it.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: I like the school but it could be increasingly better.

3 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: It's in the middle of the country and there aren't many things to do.

4 College Sophomore

Scholarships: I received a scholarship to run track.

Nightlife: Every place there is to go for nightlife is far because ASU is in the middle of nowhere. The clubs are subpar and the people typically get sloppy drunk and smoke inside. Underage nightlife is the same as of age nightlife, there are no limits.

1 College Freshman

Scholarships: I got accepted to ASU on a full academic scholarship, but I was still made to pay out of state fees. The people at financial aid are slow and incompetent. Students on campus call the process the "Alcorn Runaround". No matter how many times you call the office or how many transfers to higher level people you get, it is almost impossible to get your financial aid on time. I did not even get my scholarship funds on time. The financial aid process really needs improving at ASU.

Diversity: The diversity at Alcorn State is very much emphasized. I personally am a part of the Diversity Champions group so I come in contact with many diverse people. However; it is very easy for diversity to be hidden under all of the homogenous people. I do not know much about the political beliefs of people, politics are not discussed much unfortunately. There are not many people on campus who do not have Christian beliefs, but there are multiple denominations of Christianity, and there is a chapel on campus where I volunteer every Sunday. There are people of different sexual orientations and for the most part they float along in the crowd unscathed.

Drug Safety: Anybody who wants to smoke marijuana has the ability. Anybody who wants to drink alcohol has the ability as well. It is too easy for drugs and alcohol to be used and abused. People sit outside on the benches or in the parking lot and drink and smoke as they please. It is very frustrating to me, as a person who neither does drugs or drinks alcohol. The police officers do nothing to really enforce the rules, they only occasionally decide to show off their limited power and detain those who use alcohol and drugs. Peer pressure is inevitable at every school, but at Alcorn it is almost expected for one to participate in the drug scene. It is utterly ridiculous.

Off-Campus Dining: There are many options off campus to eat. For example, we have sonics, subway, best wok, and 5 star, where they serve chicken, chicken strips and fries.

Academics: There are great professors here that will help you in anyway possible. The registration process is simple and easy. A good place to study is our famous library and sometimes your own dorm.

Academics: My major is agricultural businesse and you can basically become a manager of your own company. It deals with plants, animal living, and soils. It is a great major to be in. You get to do hands on work and see the difference in working with soil and other things.

5 College Senior

Campus Dining: We have different dining options. For example, one of our best places to eat is called "CJ's", where they serve chicken wings and hamburgers. We have a pizza hut and subway. These places serve very good food. Now if you have flex dollars, you can use your Flex dollars at subway and Pizza Hut. The meal plan can only be used in the cafeteria.

4 College Senior

Local Atmosphere: There are a lot of trees. Basically, our is located in the country. We have a great workout gym and recreation center where we can play basketball and other stuff. The attitude here are extremely average.

3 College Sophomore

Majors: The English program is not difficult to get into, but it can be difficult to stay in. The load can be overwhelming with all of the reading and writing, but it takes a lot of dedication and time management skills. The program does require all students to take an Exit Exam, so that is the difficult part. There are two parts to the exam: a written exam and an oral presentation. If you do not pass both parts, you will not receive your degree.

3 College Sophomore

Majors: I have not had an internship yet, but I do plan to get one. My concern about it is that there are not many companies looking for English majors. There are a few options that come through the school and professors, but mainly you have to find one on your own.

5 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: The best thing about my experience here is that I feel at home. The campus is big enough to where it is not boring, but it is small enough to where I feel like a person and not a number. It really takes finding your niche (as it does at any school). What makes this school unique is the diversity and the celebration of diversity. I would definitely choose this school again.

4 College Sophomore

Weather: The weather is pretty pleasant on most days. When it rains, it normally does a little bit of flooding. When it gets hot; it gets really hot. Since we are in the deep south, the weather doesn't get blizzard cold, but it can get cold though. The worst thing is that it gets really humid here.

3 College Sophomore

Transportation: The transportation on campus is iffy. Some days it runs; some days it doesn't. On the days that it does run, it never follows the schedule. Most students just walk. The nearest airport is 2 hours away, and there is no campus nor public transportation to carry students off campus to the store or anything. You have to have a friend with a car for that.

College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: I really don't know much about the off- campus housing. There are a lot of commuters who live close-by though.
