Off-Campus Housing: Fair Prices! The prices are very reasonable and the people are very fair.

3 College Senior

Transportation: Own Car or Friend With Cars – everything is at least 15 to 30 mins away such as wal mart or any other store of food place that's not on campus. its best you have your own car or have a friend with a car

5 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: Campus Living – it's very expensive and it will rip your mouth out!

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: The Middle of No Were – we don't have any nearby off campus dining area's everything is so far apart because of our school location...

College Sophomore

Drug Safety: Alcorn State University doesn't really have such a big drug scene on campus pretty much everyone you meet is pretty laid back. It might be time when people have had to much and it gets out of hand...

5 College Senior

Academics: The professors go above and beyond to make sure no one is left behind. If you try your best and give it your all then you're bound to succeed.

3 College Senior

Off-Campus Dining: There aren't many options too close by but the prices are pretty decent. There's not alot of variety so you may get tired of eating the same thing over and over unless you're up to a 45 minute drive

3 College Senior

Computers: They may be a little slow sometimes but they're good enough for what you need to do. If one lab is crowded or printer is broken then there are many more to choose from

2 College Senior

Local Atmosphere: Nothing Is Close to Campus – There's nothing close to campus to do. You have to drive at least an hr for entertainment

3 College Senior

Greek Life: Life of a Greek – Greek Life is very fun and very supportive to a school setting. Becoming a greek take s a lot of discipline from yourself and it also gives each person abetter since of brotherhood and sisterhood

Off-Campus Dining: CJ's Restaurant – The closest and most convenient places to eat near ASU which offers a variety of food is CJ's. The food there is affordable and very tasty.

3 College Senior

Computers: Computer Labs – There are computer labs on campus, which is a huge plus during midterms and finals.

3 College Senior

Campus Dining: Dining Hall – The food in the dining hall for lunch is okay but for dinner you are lucky you have other places around campus to eat.

4 College Senior

Campus Housing: Girls Dorms – The dorms for female college students are okay. Building A & B and the honor dorms are the best to stay. However, Buildings A & B are the farthest from everything on campus.

Academics: My overall experience with the professors at Alcorn State University has been a good one. Some of them were excellent always making themselves available to help and encourage you along the way.

4 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: Little to Do – the atmosphere is pretty, but there is hardly anything to do for fin besides planned activities

3 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: No One Cares – The police ride around inspecting, but they don't actually inspect.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: Alcorn= Awesome – I love Alcorn very much! The environment is so peaceful and relaxing. There is a balance of social life and academic life. It's only boring if you don't make it exciting. The faculty and staff are some of the best I have ever experienced.

4 College Junior

Computers: There are labs opening on campus in every department now. Computers are free to use and printing is free as well. There is a limit per day, but it is still enough for one student. There is no limit on how long a student can use a computer in the labs. A lab director is sometimes available.

Local Atmosphere: Secluded Area – Alcorn is definitely a transition. If a student is used to a big city with lots to do then they will have a lot of adapting to do when attending Alcorn. It is at least 15 minutes from the small local cities and at least 45 minutes away from bigger cities. Fun things still happen on campus though.

Drug Safety: Drugs Are Not a Worry – On Alcorn's campus, drugs aren't really a big issue. Drinking alcohol and smoking cigarettes are pretty much dominant. I haven't heard any report of a drug search having positive results of finding illegal substances.

3 College Sophomore

Scholarships: Why Not Choose Alcorn. Alcorn's Financial Aid process is somewhat fair. My schooling is fully paid for, and I haven't really had any major issues with the process. Except they take a lot of money

Overall Experience: Why Not Choose Alcorn. When I first started attending Alcorn State Univeristy I had multiple issues. I had issue concerning my paper work, crosscountry and track, and the coaching. I came to Alcorn State University, because I was offered a scholarship. But, during the process at Alcorn State Univeristy, I learned that it was not a the school for me. I did not like the way the coaches handled things, or the type of treat ment I got there. I felt out of place at Alcorn and that there was something so much better for me at another school. If I could choose a school all over again, it definantly would not be Alcorn State University. I would have taken a different path, when going about getting my education.

Health & Safety: Safety on Campus – The safety on the campus is very poor because we do not have enough police officers on the campus, and most of them are not around when you need them. They do have rules for the campus, but the officers do not enforce them well enough. There are speed bumps on the campus, and most people try to dodge them to keep from going through them, and i reported it to the assistant to the president to deliver to him because i almost got hit several times. i made a request for traffic lights, but it would cost the school so much money. Saftey has been one the main issues on our campus

4 College Senior

Academics: Acedemics Offered at School – The school has a great acedemic program, but i wish they would provide more graduate programs, created a doctorate programs, and start an online degree. Most of the professors come to class and do their jobs, but some just lay back at home.
