Campus Dining: The places around campus are good. I suggest not buying a huge meal plan. Flex dollars are better because you can use them at the places around campus which is far better than the cafeteria. the cafeteria food isn't bad but it could be better and you probably prefer pizza hut over cafeteria food anyway.

Off-Campus Dining: The closest off-campus dining is in the next city which is about 20 minutes away. Since this is a small place, there aren't many places to choose from. Most people go to the Sonic in Port Gibson. The service is a tad bit slow but the food is great and is always fresh. I guess that takes up for the slow service.

Academics: All the professors I've had have been interested in the students' passing of the class. Some of them don't just want you to pass the class, they want you to learn something that you can take with you for a lifetime.

Academics: I believe alot of our classes can be taught differently so that we could learn instead of memorizing for the test and for getting after the class is completed. I also think the registration process can be less hected if they were more organized with their work. I should not have to turn it the same paper work several times before I can be registered. I also thing to many people are handling the fincail aid papers. Every year I have had i different person handle my aid. I think the school can do better if they realy look at the people they are hiring and asking the proper questions in the interveiw porsion.

Scholarships: Apply as early as possible. Try to meet all deadlines because if you wait until the last minute it will be a hassle standing in line. Stay in touch with your advisor to make sure you have turned in all forms.

4 College Junior

Parking: The parking space could be a little better, but it is not horrible.

Computers: The computer labs at Alcorn State are usually not croweded at all. The only time they maybe when we have midterms and finals. Most people have their own computer and use the school Wifi.

5 College Sophomore

Scholarships: the ammount in scholorships they give out at this school is unbeliveable. over 90% students at the school are offered som type of money. everyone gets scholorship money but it may not be enough

1 College Sophomore

Computers: the computers work verywell in the computer labs. We have access to wifi in our dorms but the connection is n ot so great unless we go in the study room.

3 College Sophomore

Greek Life: our greek life is really great at helping out the comunity. they also love to keep us entertained with step shows and events.

3 College Sophomore

Facilities: i think something great about my school is that the teachers are willing to do anything to get us to do well. they are very understanding and helpful teachers. also this school offes many types of scholoships to help students pay for their education.

5 College Sophomore

Greek Life: Greek life is apart of the campus. They have seminars and voter's regerstration. They have parties but they do constructive things on campus as well.

2 College Senior

Scholarships: I received enough financial aid, but it was not easy speaking with staff. Registration was almost over before I was awarded funds.

2 College Senior

Facilities: They are slowly improving dorms and other facilities on-campus. There is still room for improvement.

4 College Senior

Facilities: It has a great Agriculture department and well-known for it's nursing department.

1 College Senior

Diversity: The diversity is minimum. Most students are African American.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: The financial aid process was very hectic. There were a lot of people trying to do the same thing as me so the lines were very long. Sometimes it took hours before you were even able to talk to someone to see if you were in the right place. There is a lot of different scholarships to choose from though. Payment for school is not a problem and the councelors do all they can to help when they get around to you.

3 College Freshman

Facilities: Alcorn State University is like no other university. It has friendly people wherever you go and they are very helpful. The student union is open to the public and has everything you may need right there. There is a lot of school spirit on campus that keeps you motivated. The clubs and organizations always are trying to have something going on for the students so they will never be bored. They also keep the students updated on whats happening in the world and try to keep the students informed. There is always someone to talk to or study with on the yard and all of the alcornites keep the school fun and interesting.

2 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: Off-campus housing is nothing to die for. There aren't any student apartments provided by the school. The only sources of living outside of the dorms are beat up trailors that are majority owned by people who work for the institution.

1 College Junior

Local Atmosphere: We are a college off in the middle of the woods at the end of a highway.

2 College Junior

Nightlife: The club is only ever open when fraternities or sororities are throwing parties or the football team wins a game. The house parties are nice though and they are free as well.

1 College Junior

Campus Strictness: The campus officials are extremely serious about their jobs. Professors conduct class by the book. The absentee percentage is in full effect; no student who does not attend class will pass. The campus police are strict as well. They actually tow cars parked in inappropriate areas.

2 College Freshman

Nightlife: Alcorn stay having parties throughout the week. Only thing bad about it is they play the same music everytime you go.

1 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: The city is so country. There is really no attractions or etc here. If you want to go to the mall or something then you have to drive to vicksburg, jackson and Natchez.

3 College Freshman

Weather: The weather here can be very bi-polar. One day it wants to be hot and then the next it wants to be cold.
