Campus Housing: It's okay during the week, but the weekend there is no activity because the in-state students go home.

Campus Dining: You can use your flex dollars all over campus and some stores in the nearby towns. The Caf serves dinner, lunch, and breakfast Monday thru Friday. Saturday and Sunday serve Brunch and dinner.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: There are new restaurants right outside the campus gate, which are opened until early in the morning. There also is a Sonic in the nearest town to campus.

5 College Sophomore

Academics: I love the people in my department(s). I am an animal science/pre-vet major and have a council in the agriculture department and the honors/ pre-professional department. My advisers work together to make sure I am meeting the requestments and that my classes work around Track practice.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: Professors may given a lot of work on occasion but they also give enough time to complete the work. They are more than happy to farther explain notes or the work assigned.

3 College Sophomore

Diversity: As an HBCU, the majority of the staff and the student body are black or African-American, but those who aren't are expected and welcomed with welcomed arms.

3 College Sophomore

Athletics: Like at any school, sports takes a lead over school. Athletes are given extra time to complete school work for some professors. Others don't care if your the star player, you still have to turn work in on time. During football season professors usually cancel classes on Fridays to go see the team play.

Greek Life: I start school in August and from with everyone tell me Greek life is really great.

4 College Junior

Guys & Girls: We have a lot of diversity at Alcorn State University. From Africa to Russia, Aulstralia, South America, and back to the states. The ones that are from places within 20 miles of the school tend to be the country type. Dressing in boots, levi's and t shirts. They are so friendly. The girls at my school are okay, a lot of them don't really present themselves wisely or well when it comes to clothing attire. Says a lot about you when you go to class with a half shirt on. I say cover up your body, you are not a party or out at night, have a little respect for your peers, teachers and yourself. When juxaposed with the social life, it is totally different. Everybody knows everybody at Alcorn State University. Yes you have cliques, but those cliques don't mind splitting up every now and then. We are all a family. Don't let it be a football game, alumni or the apposing team can not shut us up. Between the fans and the band we are unstoppable. As far as relationships go, I have numerous relationships around campus, including with the teachers. Our teachers make it a point to make themselves available to us.
